A photograph forgotten for a hundred years holds the key to finding the legendary lost civilization of Atlantis and an ancient artifact of mysterious power. When a letter with the photograph and a faded map of Egypt shows up in the mail, the Project is launched into a search that takes them from the depths of the Atlantic to the sands of Egypt and places unseen for thousands of years. Elizabeth Harker's Project team is caught up in a power struggle between two of Russia's vast intelligence services. As the trail to Atlantis emerges from the mists of the past, the team is stalked by agents of a man who will stop at nothing to gain another rung on the ladder of his ambition. Whoever succeeds will gain knowledge to benefit the world or destroy it. The stakes don't get any higher... Can the Project keep the secrets of Atlantis out of the wrong hands?
I like Barbados rum, old, fast motorcycles, playing guitar and books by authors like Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Alex Berenson, Craig Johnson and Lee Child. I write action/adventure thrillers. WHITE JADE is the first in a series featuring the PROJECT, a small, elite counter-terrorism unit. There are currently 23 books in the series. href="http://www.goodreads.com">ale...
Fast moving adventure story. A little bit too cat and mouse for me and not enough about the characters themselves which meant that I had trouble keeping up with who was who. Could have been better but interesting all the same.
When Selena gets a package with a map and some pictures of hieroglyphics she sets about to decipher them. This is her forté. Her discovery sends them into foreign lands to investigate. Unfortunately, The Russian team has been on the same cryptic mission of discovery and follow them. If she is successful, it won't just prove the legend of Atlantis but find an artifact of mysterious power that would answer a lot of questions passed through the eons.
Harker's Project Team answers to no one except the president. The team has long been under investigation by two highly classified Russian intelligence teams and they'll likely be caught in their power struggle as they clash with each other as well as The Project. Selena's Russian half-sister, Valentina, is fully engaged in the other side and almost as competent as Selena.
Atlantis has long been the subject of philosophical historical discussion. Did it exist or not? If so, what happened? These stories originate somehow, but like garden-variety gossip, perhaps facts get distorted. So many theories...so suspend your disbelief and just enjoy this possible premise.
These narratives are punctuated with a lot of fascinating theories and facts, non-stop action, good guys and bad guys, strong, beautiful, intelligent, and very proficient women. It's iconic, pure escapism adventure. There is little character development now except for occasional back reference and while you might enjoy as a standalone, it's always good to follow the origin and growth of characters by starting with Book 1. Alex packs his clean reads with strong characters and just a little romance.
Years ago, I read a ton of digital books from Bookbub and got started with The Project series by Alex Lukeman, this one by Audible. After a while, we didn't have to think about it, just said: "It's a Lukeman." A go-to-author and one I'm sure you'll enjoy as well.
Alex Lukeman's "The Atlantis Stone" is the 12th in his popular "Project" Series. I have read every book in the series, and I've enjoyed each and every one of them. I was surprised when some reviewers felt that the series has lost its "edge". On the other hand, I thought that "The Atlantis Stone" had a carefully crafted and complex plot, dealt with intriguing artifacts, and had well developed characters about whom you care. I have enjoyed the Project Books, and I have actually slowed up in my reading of them so I don't run out of the books. Sure as with many action type books, you simply have to suspend credibility a little, and just enjoy the story. If you are looking for a new series to try, I would certainly recommend Lukeman's series.
Here Selena gets a odd package through her agent with faded map of Egypt and some pictures of odd glyphs that she needs to decipher. The translation seems to reveal a key to finding the legendary lost civilization of Atlantis and an ancient artifact of mysterious power. Harker's Project team is caught up in a power struggle between two of Russia's vast intelligence services, and Selena once again crosses path with her Russian half sister, Valentina.
Thus, for many, the "Atlantis" story was a tad far-fetched; however, so are many of the action/ adventure books that give so many of us escape and enjoyment, like Fleming's iconic Bond, to Reacher, Bourne, and others. Also, I strongly suggest that you begin with the first book so you can appreciate the character development and continuity even more, such as Valentina. So why not just suspend reality for a while, relax, read, and enjoy the ride. That is far more enjoyable to do. I really enjoy this series and recommend it to you.
Best way to describe this book is like average pizza. No one is ever upset with eating decent pizza but it's not the best you've ever had.
I really enjoyed the concept and I thought the ending was satisfactory enough. It's historic enough that everything is believable but also enough fantasy that it's interesting. I liked how the author used real technology and general government agencies to move the plot and characters along. Two parts that "shocked" me (spoilers here) when the shark killed the one guy and the giant stone crushed the female Russian agent.
I wish I could go to Egypt and explore the pyramids one day but for now it seems books like this are the best way to get there.
Funny enough I found this book by random but some times the best books are the ones that find you not the ones you search for.

Not the first historical drama I've read about Atlantis and I'm sure it won't be the last; it is a fascinating subject, and the potential links to Egyption history and the questions raised about the Sphinx and pyramid timelines are as usual (in line with other similar adventures and all of Alex Lukeman's Project books) backed up with research, even the great unknowns and artistic liberties have some factual basis. The story not only follows a race through Egypt to Atlantis and back against the Russians but of inner termoil between Russian agencies, and again Selena crosses paths with her half sister. Some good pacing, some thrilling segments, well written and very enjoyable.
Read this book to know how Alex Lukeman unravels his story of Atlantis. He writes in an exciting, intriguing, suspenseful journey from place to place to the ocean depths. The project team is followed by the Russians at every step. I recommend this book to all who like action-packed, fast-paced adventure thrillers! I couldn't put this book down. Happy reading! 😊
A fast moving action adventure novel. Was my first novel in the series, surely, will check others in the series. Similar to Sigma Series I think: a covert team, plot based on ancient mysteries. Like the educational aspect of these novels, about ancient times and secrets.
Intriguing plot, Egypt, the legendary lost Atlantis civilization. Men who want power, the author has once again USA good plot, with the elite team. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Love it simple read, good character good story. Was a quick pick by my brother and turned out to be a joy of a time. Good scenes and fast-paced action. Would dive into more books by this author! Let's do it again soon!
I would describe this novel as Indiana Jones-lite. There were many interesting speculations as to the location of Atlantis with plenty of action throughout the book.
This was really good!Jack de Golia was a terrific narrator,as usual.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Since this was a series of 12 books I wanted to read all of them and then write my review. These books are all excellent and we'll worth the time spent reading them. You will begin to think of the characters in these books as friends and when they are hurt you will find yourself feeling compassion for them. The situations The Project get themselves in and out of will keep you entertained and turning pages to see what will happen next. Alex Lukeman is an excellent writer that doesn't require explicit sexual content or vulgarity to keep his readers' attention. While any of these books are equally entertaining as stand alone reads you will thoroughly enjoy reading them in order. Enjoy! I know I did!
You can always tell when an Author has lost heart for a particular series. It leaks through on every page, and it’s obvious to me that this Author would rather move on to greener pastures.
But after 11 books, The Project team seems to have lost its heart and its support. Tough times usually pulls a team together, but in this book, the characters seems to meander robotically through the action and the plot. It doesn’t feel fresh; it feels recycled with doom-and-gloom on the horizon. You can’t cover up lack of heart and soul with BOOM and BANG or even POW.
Yes, lots has happened, and none of it is easy to recover from. It takes time. But this book just sucked the life out of the series. I don’t have much hope for its resuscitation. I think it’s time to pull the plug on The Project.
The only ray of hope is a possible spin-off with a peripheral character. But I’m not even sure about that.
The team is back although some members are more fit than others, when Selena gets a odd package through her agent with a map and some pictures of odd glyphs that she needs to decipher. But what Selena finds sends the team to foreign lands to investigate further. What they don't know is the Russians are following them, and the Russian are having a inter-agency war and it all involves the Project Team.
This is another wonderful suspense filled, action packed, hundred mile a hour charge ahead book by Alex Lukeman. I don't know where he gets his book energy from, but may it never end as well as the Project Team. I love these books, they are great and mix a bit of history in as well. If you are a audiobook fan like me than this is a treat, because Jack de Golia is one of the best and he has done all of the Project series so far, so he IS the voice of the team members.
While I haven't read every book in the Project series, I've read most of them. And I've enjoyed them, especially the research and detail that have gone into them. This book, though a great read, didn't capture my enthusiasm to the extent of the previous books, however. It begins with Selena receiving a package from a Russian who is discovered tortured and dead a few days later. The package contains information that sets the Project team on a quest to locate a lost secret of Atlantis, a potential energy source. But the Russians, once they learn about the prize, want it for themselves. And they will go to any means to recover it
Another thrill ride from Alex Lukeman. Most of the story is on the rather unbelievable side, as the Project team actually easily finds Atlantis after only a few days, goes deep inside to a sealed off room inside a Pyramid and lives to tell about it. I couldn't help but think of Ben Carson and his claim that aliens built the pyramids, most of the story was so fantastic. Somehow Lukeman makes it all seem possible. The Russian spies with their infighting spice things up, although I wish the names weren't so similar for Volkov and Vysotsky...hard to keep them straight.

Another high energy, extraordinary , believable action thriller of the highest pedigree!!! Evidence of Atlantis is discovered. The covert team of POTUS is activated. The Russians counterpart is also tasked to discover, undermine and if necessary eliminate the American agents. An extremely creditable story , non stop action....I highly recommend this book!!!
Once again Mr. Lukeman has written an action packed story that I read all in one sitting. His books are always well written as he brings the characters of The Project to life.
This was a particularly INTERESTING story, having read many books on Atlantis and Egypt, a good exciting story with all the elements of suspense, friendship, and spies. Looking forward to the next adventure of the group.
The thing that is so enjoyable about a long series is the opportunity to get to know the characters in depth. This being the 12th book, it is like greeting old friends (and a few enemies). And Alex Lukeman keeps coming up with thrilling adventures for them.
Another excellent read by Alex Lukeman. Nick, Selena and the gang from the project is one another adventure. They are following a lead to find Atlantis. Hot on their heals are the Russians. Selena once again crosses path with her a Russian half sister, Valentina.
Not my favorite, although all the familiar characters were there. The premise was too far fetched. Alex Lukeman though remains on my list of must read and recommended authors.
This book is very similiar to my own writings. Complex plot, intriguing artifacts, a team of strong investigators, lots of bad guys and the safety of the world at risk. What more could you ask for?
Is it real? Is there a major cover-up of a disaster that was man made? Do we really want to know who is responsible or do we take the stories as gospel?
