When Harper got pregnant at fourteen, her family abandoned her to be a single mother with no support system. She survived the only way she knew how—hard work and determination. Now she is a nurse in her early thirties, and her son Jamie is ready to embark on high school. Harper can finally say they’ve made it. She can’t take all the credit, though.

The beauty in this book lies within the unique, warm, lovable family that Ms. Butler has created. As a person who comes from a non-traditional family and at one point was planning to create a non-traditional family, her concept of family rings very true to me. I loved it. I loved the love that everyone had for Jamie, and man, that Jamie kid is a scene stealer of epic proportions.

I would have liked to have had a little more depth to Dakota and Harper’s relationship. They were adorably sweet toge

Getting pregnant at any age can be a daunting and anxious time but getting pregnant as a teenager even more so. I know because I have been there myself. All your friends are finishing high school, going off to University, travelling the world and enjoying a party lifestyle. Meanwhile, you learn pretty quickly that this is baby you are carrying is going to be something that changes you for the rest of your life. I don’t mean in a negative way though. Having a child, no matter what age or relation ...more

Light-hearted, feel-good, good old fashioned romance novel!

Ms. Butler's debut novel gets an A+ from me :)

Where do I start? What a beautiful story. The story line was spectacular and wholesome. The characters felt like friends. Also if you are in the market for a book boyfriend, look no further because Dakota Daughtry is it. You will fall in love with his sense of humor, his witty one liners, and his sweet romantic side. Although I love Harper, she was a total sweetheart, I think the male charac

What an absolute gripping debut release from Keyanna Butler!
A Contemporary Romance that stands out in the genre for having such a realistic (and unique) relationship at its foundation. With a foundation as rock solid as the kind of love that's evident between Dakota, Jamie, and Harper... the story can go nowhere but up... and Maybe Forever does just that.
From the first few lines I was sucked in and quite positive my kindle was staying in my hands until I read the last word.

Well, before I dive into this review, I have a disclaimer. I know this author from Facebook and I adore her. With that being said, when she sent me an ARC, I was equally excited and horrified. Excited because I was about to read her debut novel and terrified that I was going to review it. I could never rave about a novel if I hadn’t really liked it.
So I started to read it. And something really wonderful happened. I forgot that I was reading a book written by someone I knew. I simply submerged i

This book is not a standalone, the story does not conclude at the end of it, there is at least one more to come. I liked the premise of this book and I have enjoyed reading it for the most part. I understand this is a debut novel and it hasn't been a bad one. The writing is a bit amateurish at times but I like the way the relationship has developed between Dakota, Harper and Jamie. My main complaint with this book is the lack of description, Dakota mentions about Harper's curly brown hair and an ...more

In this debut effort from Keyanna Butler, Dakota Daughtry is product of foster homes and becomes a big brother to Jamie. Having gotten pregnant with Jamie at a young age, and left to rear the child on her own, Dakota's presence is greatly appreciated and loved by both Jamie and his mom Harper. As Jamie starts high school, both Harper and Dakota realize that there is love between all of them, and not just a familial type of love. They decide to take a chance and see if their relationship

What a debut from this new author! I went in with an open mind and I was blown away. All the characters are well developed and immediately catch all of your attention. Dakota and Harper might be the stars of this show but the development of all the secondary characters is so fantastic that you will fall in love with each of them so deeply. Jamie might be my favorite person in the book, maybe of all time, actually. That kid just stole my heart completely. The alternating POV's is one of the many ...more

I love a book that you can sit and read in one setting. I'm really excited for Keyanna and really happy for her to put out a debut novel. So congrats! I genuinely enjoyed these characters and the storyline. I thought it was a sweet and genuine love between the main characters. There were definitely a couple laugh out loud moments and a couple teary eye moments which I loved about this book.

A really sweet story, much more than a romance. It was easy to fall completely in love with all of the wonderful characters in this book. A beautiful friendship than can build organically to something "Maybe Forever"
I loved the little bonus chapter...more like a bonus teaser!!
Couldn’t get into

The premise behind this book was good but it just wasn’t handled well. The actions of the adults was so juvenile and just made it hard to get into the story.

The whole premise to Maybe Forever written by Keyanna Butler was so different, so refreshing that I just had to read it. Being the product of a young mother’s pregnancy I instantly connected with what Butler was trying to give her readers- a different kind of story of love, trust and struggles everything a true family goes through.

One thing I can definitely say about Butler’s writing is that she delivers real, unique characters and relationships. They aren’t perfect. Their story isn’t

There is no way that you can tell me that this is a debut novel. The characters, the emotions, the realism flows off this page and you find yourself with a bird's eye view of the events as they unfold. This book connected with me and allowed me to see things from my husband's perspective when it comes to our children. Whereas Harper has one, I have three. Stepping in to fill the shoes that another man left vacant takes courage and even though Dakota was there for Jaime through a program, he rema ...more

This book definitely isn't your usual saccharine sweet debut romance novel.  This has depth and characters that are realistically portrayed, sometimes devastatingly so.  Though it was more bare bones and predominantly dialogue, there is a larger message of accepting hardships and letting them make you stronger rather than succumbing to the pressure to do what's easy.  I really appreciated the array of relationships portrayed, rather than having the book focus on only 2 people and their side of t ...more

A strong debut from author Keyanna Butler! Can't wait to read more from her.
This book was unique in the fact that it didn't have your typical hero/heroine portrayed in the pages. It was refreshing in that manner. And it wasn't the insta-love that many books lead into. This relationship, M/F, developed over time.
What tripped me up slightly as I got into the book was that it was nearly all dialogue. Even though the chapters were broken down into the three main characters, I never quite knew who wa

If you are looking for a quick, light, sweet read then this is the book for you. I did enjoy it but I do think if we might have gotten more information than the little we did on how Dakota came into their lives and maybe just more history in general I may have fallen in love with these characters more than I did. It did have its moments of funny, caring, and heartfelt moments made that made it an enjoyable read. Sometimes there were scenes in the book that I feel could have had more to them than ...more

Maybe Forever tells the story of Harper, a school girl mom all grown up, and Dakota, the young man who appeared in their lives as the babysitter but became so much more. Jamie is now 15-years-old and about to start High School. He wishes for a proper relationship with his father, but is unsure of how it will impact both his mom and Dakota, who he sees as a parent by proxy.

This debut novel is sweet, full of romance and minor angst. With no editing or grammatical errors to distract the eye, you a

As a reader and a blogger, I love to discover new, debut authors. Unfortunately, this debut book didn’t work for me. I don’t mind reading a bit inexperienced story, authors need to learn to write, and I’m in awe for those who give it an honest try (I know I wouldn’t).

Based upon the blurb I expected a story with sorrow and angst, but all goes very nice and friendly. My biggest issue is the number of POV’s. For me personally it was too much, I wanted to know more about Harper and her difficult pa

So many emotions for this book and they are happy lovey feelings. This story is truly heart warming.
If I could give this book a 6 star rating I would. This only book 1 and I can not wait for more.

Dakota and Harper, Jamie and Bianca, Aiden and Casey, Mason and Amelia. So many journeys to follow and I am more than thrilled to follow. Such a strong family unit made of only love and support. This is truly sweet. But man oh man I love the twist and turns on this journey!

This was a love story that was unique and unlike most I've read in the genre. This debut author does a great job in defining the relationship and roles between Jamie, Dakota and Harper. I loved the dialogue between them all - cute, funny and sweet and sometimes sarcastic, like this favorite line:
"Yes, pretty sure. I mean, I know it's not God's baby, so you're next on the list."
My only regret is that the ending is a cliffhanger that I didn't see coming!

Keyanna did such a good job creating a genuine love story. Harper and Dakota's love radiates off the page. I love the way they love each other. Harper's son Jamie might be my favorite fictional person. His witty sense of humor will definitely have you laughing. It seems like a sweet simple love story but the end will have you begging for the second book ASAP!

I'm at a loss for words. I haven't ever read a book with this sort of storyline before. There isn't a whole lot of drama and zero angst. But what I really need to know is... When will the next one come out because holy cliffhanger!!

This book moved quickly. I enjoyed all the characters and how they interacted. There are some twist and turns in this story that kept me interested. Now the ending, that has me like....WHAT??? Excited to see how the next book plays out. Fingers crossed for a HEA!!

Keyanna is a simple girl living in mostly fantasy worlds. She’s been writing since she was 13 years old, jotting down full length stories on construction paper and reading them to her childhood friends for entertainment. She’s a self-proclaimed dork extraordinaire and a library card carrying book nerd taking mental residence in the Wizarding World, coffee in an IV, collecting movie stubs like memo ...more
