Re-read in anticipation of book #3
_________________________________________________________

True Colours is the second book in the You Don't Know Me series and what a follow up it was! I usually wait until a series is complete because I lack patience, but I couldn't pass these books up. Now, waiting for the final book is going to be torture!

Maya and Dan continue their antics... they bicker, they make up, they have crazy hot sex and repeat. The repeat is partly due to Dan's refusal to come completely clean about his past. As jealous characters around them (ex's) try to tear them apart, more information about his past trickles out. Maya is not completely innocent either.... she does something behind Dan's back trying to mend past issues with his siblings and it doesn't turn out as she hoped.

Overall, this was a great second book. There was no filler as sometimes happens in the second book of a trilogy. It kept my attention throughout... especially with the suspense factor of Maya's ex. My only complaint with the book would have to be how it ended. There is another cliffhanger and it's a doozie! What bugged me was Dan's decision at the very end did not seem to fit with how his character was portrayed throughout the first and second books. Regardless, I anticipate reading the final book! I just hope it won't be too long of a wait!!

Bloody fantastic follow up from the first book ! Mr mean hot and moody Daniel foster is at it again and leaves you wanting to probe deeper into all aspects of his life to find out what's going on and maya is her feisty foul mouthed funny self . Can't believe I need to wait for the 3rd book but I will enjoy reading both books again just before it comes out to get lost in Daniel and Maya all over again . Thank you Mandy Lee X

I enjoyed reading this book a lot. But I have to say that there were some bits and pieces I was not really happy about. Even though the story and writing had a good flow, it sometimes felt a bit repetitive, as if in need of some page-fillers it got dragged out too much for my liking.
This sounds worse than it was actually because I really liked the book whatsoever. I just think some things could have dealt with sooner for shortening the story a bit.
It's like every few pages Maya discovered a new secret of Dan and confronted him. And before she had the chance to ran away, he grabbed her and grudgingly spread some breadcrumbs for her, just enough to made her stay. This went on for a few times and like I mentioned before, this could have been lessened. Other than that there were some nice twists and turns of the story.

We didn’t get to see Lucy a lot in this second installment; it's mainly just Maya and Dan. I loved Beefy, and Clive still let my heart beat faster =)

The ending wasn’t as much a shocker as I would’ve loved it to be. I kind of saw it coming. Anyway this book took me on an emotional roller-coaster but the emotions changed every few pages and that’s not something I really like that much. I enjoy being heavy in an emotion for a while, even if it's painful and sad. I don't like to be pulled in all kind of directions in just one chapter, and definitely not going on like this in a whole book.

Enough of bad words. I liked the good and the bad parts and I really want to know how the story continues. (Even though I have an inkling on how it will end). I WANT THE NEXT BOOK!! NOW!!!... sorry.. Pretty please =P

The Story:
After discovering some dark secrets at the end of the first book, Maya learns that Dan doesn’t give up on her that easily. Maya and Dan have to sort through a lot of things because they both had a hard past and every ugly little detail is coming to its surface. They both have to decide how to deal with it and if their love can survive it.

Things I liked and disliked:
Maya annoyed me in the first half of this book a lot. She behaved like a child at some parts and I wanted to smack her. But it was fine after a while. Or I got used to it. Anyway, I related to her fear of heights, storms and flying. I am the same when it comes to flying. I don't dare to move because I strangely believe that if I don't move, the plane will not start shaking. Stupid, I now, but still. And when it still does shake, I press my eyes shut and imagine it’s just a car-ride on a bumpy road and when it's a lot of shaking, I pray. Even though Maya's just a fictional character, I feel like I am not alone. That hopefully will help me in the summer when my bf is dragging me onto a plane again.

I loved her passion for painting. I enjoyed reading about it a lot. I would love to see her paintings in real, especially the triptych.

Dan really is a creep but he does everything within his power to keep Maya safe. I kind of love him for being protective but also hate him for not being honest with Maya. And even with his best intentions I honestly would have been furious with him after discovering that he lied that often. I would definitely have broken up with him a few times already during this book.

While reading “You Don’t Know Me”, I became hooked on Maya and Dan’s story and the insane chemistry between them. “True Colours”, however, reeled me in and sucked me under and there was no doing anything else or wriggling free until the last page was turned.

This second installment of the trilogy was definitely like peeling back another layer or three of the onion. The real question is whether this layer finally exposes the core of either Dan or Maya or whether we still have more layers to go to see their true colours. I’m betting on more – how about you?

It felt like I wanted to strangle just about every character in this story as it progressed with Maya and Dan topping the list (of course). For Maya, it was her ostrich tendencies (running away and trying to stick her head in the sand) and stubbornness that made me want to throttle her. For Dan, it was his trickery, his lack of communication, and his over-protectiveness that made me want to get my hands around his neck (it had nothing to do with wanting to touch his male perfection with my own two hands – nope, not at all).

I loved how much more mystery/suspense was involved in this book. That air of intrigue and feeling of danger kept me on the edge of my seat. Even more, I loved the humor. Maya’s little shopping excursion with her best friend Lucy and her very own personal shopper was epic – hugely funny – and my stomach hurt after laughing so hard! Oh Maya, I’m torn between wanting to be you and adoring you as my idol. Decisions, decisions!!

As I was getting close to the end of this second book, I felt like I was underwater, holding my breath, and shaking my head no, no, no – don’t you dare! I saw where the ending was headed and was prepared to do a little author strangling if that’s where this book would have left off because that would have been just plain mean! But then the miracle of miracles happened and Miss Mandy Lee let me surface for a much needed gulp of air and extra clarity on what was really going on (thanks to my girl Maya’s stubbornness). I think this might be just enough to sustain me so that I’m able to hold my breath long enough to make it to book three. And seriously, I’m not into physical violence, so you were never in harm’s way dear author! I may have had to contemplate throwing myself off the proverbial cliff, however, if you had ended on the cliffhanger that I thought was coming (have I properly thanked you for that?). 

All in, I loved this book even more than the first which doesn’t usually happen. I’m rooting for Maya and Dan and their HEA. It’s going to be a tortuous wait for the conclusion to their story. Highly recommended!!!

OMG I just finished reading this gem and I am floored. Author Mandy Lee really pulled all the stops on this one. Just when I thought Dan & Maya's can't get any better it is goes above and beyond. There was lots of man handling, sexing, twist, bombs, and the mother of all cliffhangers. Left me saying WTF! It picks up right where book one left off. The flow of the story was fast but I did not feel anyway rushed I guess that because that's how Dan rolls ;). Most of all I was most excited of how Dan and Maya grow as individuals and together as well. Even though It feels like their is still more to the story that has not been told. Now I just have to wonder the next plot while I wait just please don't make me wait long lol.

I want to say a huge thank you to the author for gifting me a ARC it was a surprise to say the least.

TRUE COLOURS is the second book in the YOU DON'T KNOW ME trilogy by MANDY LEE. Mandy Lee is a new author for me and I find her writing very refreshing. This trilogy has colorful characters and an intriguing story line. When I finished the first book I immediately started on the second. Maya and Dan hold a VERY special place in my heart and I have to know how their story ends. The secondary characters in this story are just as fascinating and very important to the story. I am totally hooked on this series. Mandy Lee has written a phenomenal story with characters that will become part of your world. Be ready to lose some sleep when you start this series. You won't be able to read "just one more chapter".

What an emotional read! I feel like I have been on a never ending roller coaster. Maya and Dan's story is humorous, full of hot sex, extremely romantic, dangerous, and the most amazing love story! Although they seem to be total opposites, they have an extraordinary chemistry that is off the charts. They are bound and determined to work out their problems so they can get on with their lives together. However, there are a few things that threaten to destroy their relationship. Trust is one of those issues and they both struggle daily in their own way to deal with it.

Maya runs away and hides at any sign of trouble and avoids the issues. She has made many promises to Dan to stop running and stay and work out the problems with him.
As she discovers the factors that make up Dan's complex life, she quickly discovers the real Dan. He is caring, considerate, loving, honest, successful, committed and faithful. He will go to any length to keep her safe and make her happy.
As Dan and Maya work out their issues, there is one enormous obstacle still standing in their way of happiness. A relationship from Maya's past has resurfaced. Her ex was cruel and abusive to her, and when the relationship ended, Maya left town to escape the dangers he posed. Unfortunately, he was able to locate Maya and threatens to destroy her future with Dan.
This story has left me wanting much more. I can't imagine what the next and last book in the trilogy will bring, but I am pulling for a happily ever after for Dan and May. They definitely have a relationship worth fighting for. Come on Mandy Lee. I can't stand this suspense.

Arc received in exchange for an honest review.

True Colours is book 2 in the You Don't Know Me series. after the end of book 1 I was left a bit ho hum... I wasn't sure what I didn't enjoy but pushed forward to True Colours and I'm so glad I did.

This is the continuation of Dan Foster and Maya Scotton love story. After finding out Dan 's true history she runs and now wants nothing to do with the lying man she fell in love with.

With help of best friend's Clive and Lucy they host am intervention - that borderlines funny and obsessive but Dan needs to get Maya to what happened and the reason he is the way he is now. so it seems locking her in his penthouse apartment is the answer.

Knowing she cannot ignore Dan 's charm it is not long until she gives into him again. And soon after they begin an intense relationship, but with secrets and lows constantly plaguing them ( Maya in particular ) they walk head in into Maya 's ex boyfriend, who is hellbent on taking Maya back and crucifying Dan in the process.

Now on to of dealing with Dan ' s past, his secrets and now the evil ex Maya uses all of her strength to pull her love to Dan through the toughest part of their relationship.

But will it all be for nothing? when someone with so much hate comes into your life and will remove everyone you love in the process can they survive the crazy man or will Boyd win the ultimate battle to remove Dan from Maya 's life permanently.

Leaving me on a cliffhanger I'm now hanging for book 3 and the final installment.

I read the first book in the You Don’t Know Me series, quite a while ago and loved this 5 Star read. So much so, that before I started to read True Colours, I decided to reread it. I’m so glad I did it because one, the first book finished on a cliff hanger and two, because it was worth reading again.
To say I thoroughly enjoyed True Colours is an understatement; I couldn’t put it down. Who doesn’t like a book without secrets, secrets which you want to unravel? There were plenty of those in True Colours. Add in the suspense of not knowing what is going to happen next and I found it hard not to pick up this book at every spare moment. Sleep really is over-rated.
I loved the characters–I loved Maya and I fell in love with Dan. I wanted to know their secrets from their pasts. Lucy was the best friend everyone wants and even though I didn’t like Clive at first, he grew on me as I got to know him better. But I’ll warn you, there are characters you are going to hate, and for a very good reasons.
I haven’t mentioned the hot sex yet, but the word “sizzled” comes to mind.
I loved True Colours from the beginning almost to the end. I say “almost” because I was left with another cliff hanger. Please hurry and finish the next book in this series, Mandy Lee!
I gave True Colours 5 sizzling stars.

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion

True Colours begins where You Don't Know Me ends. Miserable after learning about Dan's true identity, Maya is suffering from their split. The breakup feels real, although it didn't last long, going through her emotions makes it feel like it lasted a lifetime...as breakups tend to feel.

This book contained everything I loved about the previous installment plus a serious case of crazy ex! Throw in Dan's secrets and we've got all the perfect pieces of an amazing story. Every time Dan reveals another part of himself, I feel like I've been knocked off balance and it's not even my life! I was blown away at how Boyd's existence comes to the front of the story. His super crazy personality and refusal to see that he has issues was very troublesome. I can't imagine how book 3 will go. Often times, I feel that part 2 of a trilogy is a filler book that could have been skipped but it made the series even better! I'm so stoked to read the conclusion of this story and saddened that once again I didn't read it slower. I look forward to reading more work by Mandy Lee and am impatiently waiting for the next installment!

Wow! Way to follow up book one! I am still sitting here stunned by the conclusion of this book and wondering how long I have to agonize waiting for book three! This book really had everything for me, full development, plenty of plot twists and surprises galore. Dan had an awful childhood, yes, but as time goes on more of it is revealed to us in unexpected ways almost as if a confession to Maya will destroy not only their relationship but him as well. Maya has secrets of her own that she refuses to face but together they realize they can overcome them. Trust is something they are finally finding along with the "I love you's". Throw in a crazy ex bound to reclaim Maya and hurt Dan and anyone that stands in his way makes for intense dialogue. A seriously great read for me and I can't wait for book three!

Had to download this book the minute I finished You Don't Know Me as I wasn't able to put either of the books down. This was just as good as read. Glad it started from where first book finished and no timeline jump! All 4 main characters Lucy Clive Maya and Dan was funny from the start ie intervention, especially the Harrods scene had me in stitches (so much so my 22yr old son was quizzing me what what so funny) few sad bits with almost kidnapping and motorbike accident (!!!!) and yet another separation for poor Dan and Maya. Looking forward to reading 3rd book when it's published end of year fingers crossed for Dan and Maya that everything works out - finally she says yes to engagement and get married and have kids will be keeping my fingers crossed for this couple and I must admit Clive and Lucy as a couple too

Wow and what a way to leave book 2! This is turning into a great trilogy Mandy. I'm loving the intrigue, the drama and the hot relationship mounting between Dan and Maya. Your writing is something that any reader can relate to. It's a joy to read just don't leave it too long for the next book. This book really hinges around trust something that doesn't come naturally to either Dan or Maya. I nearly had heart failure near to the end but crisis averted. So looking forward to book 3. Well done!

wow just as answers come fro what you had in the first book, you only have a few more added as small bits begin to fall into place. Maya has faced a lot in this book only to face more. Dan has also faced some of his fears only to be faced with the biggest one yet.

what happens next I don't know but I'm rooting for a book three HEA but I feel there will be more shocks before that happens

cant wait mandy to see what you have coming next for us!

I'm sorry, I hate not finishing a book, especially when it's part of a trilogy but I really can't stand the heroine any longer!

In the first book it took me a while to warm to her but I did eventually and I actually found that i enjoyed it. I thought it might be the same with this book but good god she's pissing me right off. I'm all for a strong heroine but she's ungrateful, ignorant and just plain fucking rude. And If I have to read about how much she's overcome with lust when they're trying to have a serious conversation I'm going to throw my kindle out the fucking window.

I got to about 50% and really wanted to try and finish this but then I came to... "Morning sweet pea" she realises she needs a pet name for him and she comes up with "Morning shit head" for the guy she's in love with!! I understand this was meant to me funny but it just pissed me off and was basically the last straw.

Not for me.....

Worst heroine ever.
Right, I usually quite enjoy these kind of books. We all know them, the suffering and brooding hero meets his amazing heroine. However, in this trilogy I truly despised the heroin. She's self absorbed, selfish, rude, childish and downright ignorant. Things doesn't go her way, she throws a tantrum worthy of a 5 year old, that's just been denied sweets! She's even rude and demeaning towards a poor sales woman, just because she doesn't like to shop. She endangers friends and family, because she refuses to take an obvious thread serious, and what's more, she time and times again goes against the very people who tries to keep her safe. Needless to say, this heroine is the worst I've ever come across! I couldn't feel anything with or for her except annoyance.

This book had so many feelings added to the storyline. Spice scenes were much more intense than in book 1 🌶️ x5 throughout the whole book. The twists that happened I did not see coming 😮! The exposed secrets were not what I was expecting. The chemistry between the FMC and MMC grew so much from book 1 to book 2. Something about beautifully broken men finally opening up 🫠 💕. The ending of this book broke me beyond belief 💔 😭 😠 😧 ! Book 3 better bring me back up!

Fifty Shades

Only difference Maya is no Ana. Other than painting and making toast there is nothing she seems able to do. All the men cater to her. Serve and wash up after her as she looks on. Certainly not independent. I'm surprised she is able to get up by herself every morning. I do like Dan and all secondary characters. But still so much fifty shades.

Steamy and dreamy

This book is where it gets good. Maya and Can are starting to become one but the end breaks my heart. I'm a little frustrated that Ian keeps getting his way but I know the third book is going to put a stop to that.

Too emtionally heavy

All the lies and deception and it's only 4stars because of that one scene. But still I enjoy their love story. Rocky like most relationships but still the truest form of love.

This is the second book of three as Maya and Dan continue to deal with their demons and move forwards with theirs relationship. The past is coming back to haunt them, in more ways than one.

This is not a stand alone book - it is a series that needs to be read in order.

Enjoyable read but unfortunately was so like the Fifth Shades Trilogy including using the same name as one of the characters, that the overall read was a little flat.

I didn't finish this book but returned it to KU. Too much of the same thing as book one with a female character that drove me nuts. H definitely has his baggage but she is just too immature and childish for me.
