This book took me by surprise as it wasn't at all what I expected. I figured I would learn some fun tidbits about border collies and go on about my day but at the heart of this story is the truth that animals have the power to save us. They force us into a routine—daily walks, snacks, and cuddles—a purpose so that we must continue even on days when we'd rather not participate with the outside world. Hubert experienced significant personal loss and it was Stella who brought him back to life.
The emotional support dogs can provide us during some of our darkest moments is why family pets are so beloved and so dearly missed when they pass on. I did not know that border collies were so intelligent and Hubert warns potential border collie owners of the commitment and tasks that must be done to keep your dog happy and healthy. As a dog lover, I fully agree that pets become interwoven into your family's fabric. This book is a quick read—perfect for a rainy day cuddle on the couch with your favorite doggie. Enjoy!
