It took me awhile to get into this book, too much background and philosophy, but then it hooked me. It probably helps that I live in NM and have lots of experience with native people, Hispanics and the difference between the cultures. The story ended up drawing me in and I wanted to know what was happening.

This is a book with lots of symbolism in it. It's a great read.

I love the interplay of cultures that the Thurlos portray--in this case Hispanic and Tewa in Taos County. I learn much about the history and spiritual forces that shape their characters.
