Not really a standalone. I felt a little lost not having read the whole series from the beginning. Sadie was lying pretty much the whole way through the book so I would have preferred more action after her lies were revealed. Everything cleared up a little too fast and easy.

Zach, the Blackstone security expert, is surprised to find that Sadie Adams is back in town after 5 years without a word. He once had hopes of a relationship with her, but after their one week together and one night of passion, she disappeared without a trace leaving Zach just a little bit bitter. He's sure she's up to something and he's wary of getting his heart broken again, but just a little time with Sadie sends all of that into the background. He can't resist her and he's still in love with her. Sadie has always loved Zach, but she's got other loyalties first...5 years ago, she left because she was spying for her employer and now she's spying again. She knows she's lying to Zach but she has her reasons. But when their physical relationship has some unintended consequences, the game changes drastically.

There's good and bad to this one. I absolutely adore a hero who falls head-over-heels for the heroine and fully embraces it, so I adored Zach. I felt bad for him in the beginning since he was all heart-broken about Sadie and she's just playing games and trying to get close to him to to get the dirt she came to town to get. Admittedly, she had no idea his feelings were invested were they were and I absolutely appreciate that Sadie had moments where she'd sort get clocked by the little realizations of what she was doing (and had already done) to Zach. I also definitely appreciated that Sadie didn't feel she deserved forgiveness and never got mad at Zach for his reaction. She knew she was in the wrong and was completely willing to accept the consequences, no matter what. But I had trouble with the fact that Sadie was willing to agree to cheat an innocent guy out of his inheritance, especially one she had feelings for. I get that she had some damn good reasons and that maybe she figured she'd find some dirt on him, but she knew her employer expected her to make shit up if she didn't...but that's pretty damn shady...to the point where I had difficulty sympathizing with her at times. On top of that, I have to wonder why the villain hired Sadie for a quarter of the inheritance when it would be so much cheaper and more effective to just hire a private investigator. Hmm? But this aside, the story was pretty good and kept me reading right up to the end when it suddenly ended. There really wasn't enough in that final resolution part and those characters needed to do a whole lot more talking. But I think I saw that as a pattern in the last few stories by this author too. Not my favorite way to end.

I would give this book 3 1/2 stars. At the beginning of the book, I thought that the plot moved at a slow pace. I enjoyed the last third of the book best. Sadie Adams is keeping secrets from Zachary Gatlin because she will do anything to help support her mother and sister. But while Sadie is in Black Hills, South Carolina, sparks fly between her and Zachary. This is the third book I've read in the Mill Town Millionaires series, but it worked as a standalone.

This was not a book I cared much for and I am sorry but I cannot recommend it.

It wasn't my cuppa. Too slow, as well. I have not cared much for this series and won't be reading anymore.

What would you be willing to do for your family? What would you be willing to sacrifice for them? Your own happiness and the chance of true love?
This tender and heart-wrenching story paint such a gorgeous picture of the romance between Zach and Sadie. Their past history has set doubts in Zach's mind about Sadie's trustworthiness, but the attraction is strong and pull to each other unavoidable.
The scenes with Zach and Sadie are filled with passion and palpable searing emotions. They take it slow, time passes by, Zach knows she might have to leave at any time to be with her family, he knows there might not be a future for them, but he has no idea of the depth of her secrets and deceit.
I loved Zach and Sadie together. They both had such a deep, profound love for their families, and both of them have always been taking care of their loved ones. There were so many swoon worthy moments, just absolutely breathtakingly adorable and tender instances between them. Yet the deceit and lies were the constant in-between them, and Sadie's actions started to bother me about halfway through the tale. The deeper the emotions between Zach and Sadie came, the more her motivations and actions came to question in my mind.
Sadie is in a tough spot in her life, to save her family she has made some questionable choices, and for the second time.
I admired Zach through the tale, his character had such high standards, his manners, kindness, thoughtfulness, and protectiveness was admirable, and at the end his big heart and ability to forgive and forget convinced me of his amazing spirit.
A time-old tale told with a new and refreshing voice, about the choices we make in life and the consequences of them, about love, lies, and forgiveness, leaving me to wonder how far I would be willing to go to for the sake of my family

Awww...

This story pulled at my emotions and heartstrings.
It's not a new story, but the way it is written captured my attention enough that I read it in a few hours.
Another well written story by Ms. Wade.
I like the fact that Sadie, for the most part, is an honest, dedicated daughter who sacrifices so much to care for her family. A trait and experience many can relate to.
This story is a continuation of Mill Town Millionaires but reading the previous stories are not required, it will be helpful in understanding the story.

I loved this story. Two people that their family is everything to them, and they are always wanting to help and protect them come together in a very interesting way. This is such a well written story that pulls you right into it in a way that you can feel their emotions right along with them. Once I started it, I did not want to stop. It has some unexpected twists and turns that I loved. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review, and I loved it.
