The innocent never waver from doing what’s right, even if it means drowning the world in fire.

Does power always corrupt? Is the road of good intentions really a deadend street? A second sun had appeared ages before, but why? Was it a sign from a higher power, a sign of the apocalypse that came? The Second sun is worshipped, but is it deserved? One girl and her best friend are non-believers, Violina is ostracized, bullied

I received a copy of this for a fair and honest review. The authors of this book asked me to read this and I looked into it before I decided to pick it up and read it myself. The two women in this book are very different from each other and they go on this crazy fast epic adventure through time. There were times I was not sure if I knew what was going on. I am still trying to piece it all together in my head. I am more than ready for a book 2. I know I am not doing a good job of explaining this ...more

The world itself may have been dead and dying, but life for the inhabitants could still be bliss. She would create a utopia.

Now, that little snippet you just read should tell you straight away how ambitious and trending towards the high-achiever camp ‘she’ named Violina is…

I will say this straight away- YES! This book has ‘rapid-fire action/adventure with a host of twists that will make your mind explode‘ and that is always a good thing. Unfortunately, the action and twists alone weren’t enough

This is my first book by this husband-wife writing team and I am supremely impressed. Not only do they write in one voice but they’ve created a fantastic futuristic world filled with vibrant characters and non-stop action.

While steampunk is not my favorite genre, McAllister gives it a new twist. The more I read Inevitable Ascension, the more I was immersed in Violina’s universe. Who knew blending steampunk and time-travel would be a roller-coaster ride?

Beyond the obvious story arc, there’s an

'Inevitable Ascension,' is a Sci-Fi Dystopian / Steam punk novel, by husband and wife duo Andrew & Sasha McAllister. Together, they work to bring a unique experience for readers everywhere.
The story follows young Violina and Lux; best friends and Hunters, who reside in the land of Eden.

The running theme is of the true nature of man, focusing on his corruption and demise in general. The best friends have just pulled off a museum heist, when they meet an eccentric lady with violet eyes, Vexia.

“Derangement builds its home in the minds of the ambitious”

This book started off really strong for me. There was a lot of action and both of the main characters were really interesting. Lux and Violina were both strong heroines who managed to win me immediately with their humor and their sass. I love it when a book is light and entertaining in the first chapters because this always makes me excited for what comes next, when we dig deeper into the world and the characters and we learn that

Today I’m reviewing the YA Fantasy/Time Travel novel Inevitable Ascension by V.K. McAllister. This book follows Violina and Lux, two young ladies who have a very Robin-hood style approach to life: hunting down extinct critters and selling them to a museum, they get involved in a heist from that same museum when they get stiffed for their fee. A chance encounter with a mysterious and addled woman involves them in adventures that lead them back and forth through time to save their world. Or ...more

I’ve found Indie Authors fall into two categories; the premise of their book is interesting, but it is so poorly edited that I don’t want to recommend it, or it is such a good story (and edited well) that I want everyone to read it.
Thankfully, Inevitable Ascension falls into the second category.

I am over the post-apocalyptic genre, unless it’s Mad Max (which is/was awesome), so when I received the review request I was not super excited. I put it on my calendar, and forgot about it. I was

This book is video game fast, with video game deaths and outlandish main actors’ superpowers. For me, there is far too much action and far too little story. However, I am not an intended reader; of that I’m certain. This is millennial generation writing with the modern addiction for frenetic virtual reality action. Of its sort, the writing is very good.
Some reviewers have made a lot of its religious content. Sorry, but I’d didn’t really get that at all. I read purely traditional dystopia with a

Very Exciting! Full of Action! Time Travel With Suspense! Mystery!
What more could you ask for? This book will keep you on the edge of your seat! Violina reminded me of Xena, The Warrior Princess and Lux reminded me of Wonder Women. Both strong women roles and Violina being stronger of the two.

FANTABULISTIC! I was really surprised how well written this book is in all its splendid evil goodness. LOL Reading this book was a delight as in murderous, adventurous, keep me on the edge of my seat with plot twists. That Violina is something else I tell ya. Lux is a playful and mischievous guy who takes your breath away. The world they live in I do not wish on my own worst enemy. Will this have an effect on the world to come? The way Violina deals with all of the evil that is thrown at her ...more

A Spectacular Manic Ride

This is a high action, mind boggling, dystopian, steampunk style roller-coaster ride of a book. The characters are two dimensional and almost cartoon like but this just adds to this unique story-line.

Violina is one tough woman and slowly comes to realise that she is the only one that can save the world from impending doom but power is a strange entity and can be easily abused. Lux her sidekick, has a heart and does not let anything get her down. Both have a thirst for

If you're like me, and love nonstop action sci-fi adventure, then you will love this book. From the very beginning this book hooks you and doesn't let go. In moments I was no longer reading the pages word by word, but instead transported into the world of Violina and Lux as though I had stepped through a rift in time and space.

While embarking on this adventure I couldn't help thinking how amazing this would be as a movie or at the very least an anime mini-series. I truly hope to get the chance

I absolutely loved this book from the very first page. It has such an original concept, and the main characters are wonderful with their own quirks and individual personalities. It's definitely a page-turner that keeps your interest piqued from start to finish. I'm so happy I was able to read and review this book, and I can't wait for more from this author!!

This was a super fun YA dystopian/steampunk read! Fast paced action, tongue in cheek humor, and good writing. No swearing or sexual content. Lot's of violence and fighting. Main characters are teen girls with lots of attitude. I give "Inevitable Ascension" four stars, I really liked it. Will be looking for more from this author.

Pseudonyms are no rare thing in the world of literature, but seldom do they represent more than one person. VK McAllister, a husband-wife writing duo, break that trend and plenty more in Inevitable Ascension.

The couple wrote the book together. Each creating their sections in secrecy, leading to their partner having unexpected twists and unforeseen story developments to try to include in their next section. It’s a writing activity that many have tried, but unlike most attempts that end in

So, I havent read the whole thing yet. Someone suggested the book to me and I read the few chapters the authors (husband and wife, their whole writing process seems amazing) made available on their website. I reached out to them to ask for a free copy since i couldnt pay for it and didnt want to get it using illegal ways. They were super nice about it, and actually sent it to me. So, i guess what im trying to say is: If this book is half as fun as the few chapters available and have just 10% of ...more

This book startedoff with a more fantasy like intro, but it progressed to be more dystoniawith occasionalfantasy factors as we progressed into the story.

So basically, in the world of Eden, things are falling apart. Our protagonists, Lux and Violina, are criminals of justice. But according to them, the leaders are just useless and fair slugs, and theyare the true saints. We begin withthe girls made their brief escape from the museumafter a mission, they

Violina and Lux come alive through the pages of Inevitable Ascension. The world McAllister has created feels mostly original and the characters certainly step off of the stage (some in all their odd-glory). Her world is one-part steampunk-Judge Dread and one part Mad Max with just a note of Dan Brown as the girls encounter the Kza conspiracy. There is much to like in the story (it arguably gets better as you read—the first couple chapters felt as if it embraced a few too many tropes, but the ...more

The first page I was laughing and it made me giddy. I was so intrigued and knew I was going to enjoy the book. I had heard of the plot of the book from a few other readers, so I knew it was mysterious, had the possibility to question your morals and ethics. Action packed and suspenseful. Which is fine but I have found it can be exhausting. But I was so relieved to find the humor in it! Even when there were intense moments in the book there were some great puns, and one liners, to give it some ...more

Two girls cause mayhem while trying to save their world in this fast and funny time-travel adventure.

This is one of those complicated, clever, time-travel stories, which is not a genre I’m especially keen on. But in this case, a clever and well-constructed plot is complemented by a lot of quirky humour as the main characters gleefully murder and destroy in their efforts to save humanity, and the result is a lot of fun.

The writing is on the wordy side and there are a few editing errors, but once

I’ve left a gap between reading Inevitable Ascension and posting a review because there’s one thing I didn’t think was ideal but then again I enjoyed reading this adventure and didn’t want to say that small thing and then have everyone believing that it compromised the rest of the story. Suspending disbelief is the best way around things like that, so here’s the parental advisory: fiction is ...more

I actually rated this 4.5 stars on my blog.

Two friends, scorned by society more times than they can count team up to make a living hunting exotic animals and selling them on the blackmarket. Violina is our heroic protagonist, and Lux is the quirky and humorous sidekick–though I’m sure she’d claim equality. After one of their business deals goes awry, Violina liberates an ancient artifact and carries it around with her… Then, after everything seems to settle into place, finally, for the girls,

In Inevitable Ascension, plot twists and non-stop action make for an amazingly fast and enjoyable read. The main characters, Violina and Lux, begin as 'hunters', mainly poaching for live animals for a post-apocalyptic advanced society in a sprawling mega-city called Eden.

Their last job, however, didn't go as planned, as they were stiffed their fee to retrieve cloned 'Reichoden', a fluffy form of dinosaur long extinct, with soft down and razor sharp teeth. Cloning is illegal, and the Enforcers

Characters - 5/5

Violina and Lux are the REAL definition of strong female leads. Katniss and the girl from Divergent (whatever her name is) can go hang out with Bella in twilight after reading this. It may be mix that others find odd, but I rather like how well they can pull off being so lovable and yet so... down to business (violently speaking that is). Bonus points for making me literally laugh out loud on more than one occasion. If I could nit pick one thing though, its that I wish there was
