I really enjoyed Fixin To Die the first book in the Kenni Lowry Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes. This book is full of small town southern charm. Tonya keeps you guessing with just enough red-herrings and plot twist. Kenni is a female Sheriff in a small town were crime has been next to nothing for the two years she has been sheriff. All of a sudden she has a murder and a jewelry store robbery to solve simultaneously and without a deputy. She enlist her jailer-Wyatt and the States Reserve Office-Fi ...more

Fixin To Die is the first book in a new series written by Tonya Kappes. If you want to know what living in a small town is like come to Cottonwood filled with gossips and busy bodies.
Kendrick Lowry has been the Sheriff of Cottonwood for the last two years. Her first murder and jewelry store robbery occur all in the same day.
The characters are quirky and well developed in this fun paranormal ghost mystery. Suspects, clues and twists and turns to keep you guessing as you read.

Fixin' to Die by Tonya Kappes is the first Kerri Lowry Mystery book. Kenni Lowry is sheriff of Cottonwood, having taken over from her grandfather, the previous sheriff. She finds out that his ghost has been helping her to reduce the crime rate in the town. When the town doctor is murdered the same day as a jewellery robbery, Kenni enlists her grandfathers help. An interesting mystery which started out a bit slow although picked up at the end. It took a bit of time for Kenni to accept her grandfa ...more

Tonya what an awesome book!!! I couldn't put this book down. Tonya knows how to write amazing southern mysteries. I was in love with the characters and the plot. Kenni and Finn work perfect together. Loved the chemistry and could not help but crush on Finn just like all the other ladies in the book. I was also happy that a ghost was able to join in the fun. It made the book very funny with her grandad. As I read I kept on trying to figure out who the real killer was. This made the book so much m ...more

In Fixin' to Die by Tonya Kappes, Kendrick Lowry has been sheriff of Cottonwood, Kentucky for the two years since her Poppa passed away and vacated that position after many years serving as sheriff. The crime rate has been practically zero until one morning when Kenni gets a call that the locally beloved Doc Walton has been murdered. Arriving, Kenni learns that Doc has been stabbed numerous times, but beads of mercury from the old style thermometer that Doc has always used are embedded in his mu ...more

Besides delighting me with her depiction of this small Kentucky town, Tonya Kappes kept me fully entertained with the mystery and the humor and the characters. And, of course, the hint of romance.

Sheriff Kenni Lowry is very dimensional – stronger than she feels she is, a little bit awkward, completely engaging and relatable. Finn is her hunky sidekick and I had a "big ole" grin on my face during one of the last scenes of the book. I am looking forward to seeing how the chemistry between them pla

Fixin' To Die by Tonay Kappes is a fun and sassy cozy mystery with a touch of paranormal that kept me turning the pages.

All of the characters are fully developed with quirks, strengths and sass that are often found in many small southern towns. Kenni is smart, spunky and independent in spite of being a disappointment to her mother (which is a no-no in southern towns). I liked her and found her to be very relatable throughout the story. I also found Finn to be an intriguing character since he is

I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review. Tonya Kappes is not an author I am familiar with but i though why not. I wish I could give half stars. this is better then a four but not a five. I enjoyed this book start to finish. it was easy to read, easy to follow, and easy to lose myself in. This sherriff was a great character. I am normally not much of a ghost person but this all worked. I will definately reccomend this book to others.

Fun cosy read, the first in a new series and it was just the right blend of character development, small town charm, mystery and a pinch of supernatural goodness.

Will be reading more in this series as soon as more are released.

FIXIN’ TO DIE is the laugh out loud first mystery featuring Sheriff Kenni Lowry. What a great start to a series!

Kenni was elected sheriff two years ago when her beloved Poppa, the town’s long standing sheriff, passed away. She is a department of one since her only deputy retired, which has been fine seeing as the Cottonwood, Kentucky’s, crime rate has been zero. Zero until Kenni gets the call that Doc Watson has been murdered. Not everyone thinks that she is up to the task, but she has local jai
Hmm. Can't quite decide about this book. Not sure why. The characters are reasonably well-drawn, and the small-town setting has potential. However, I just wasn't convinced that no-one would have realised the small-town doctor's dark secret, when he was so well known.

This story remind me a bit of J.J. Cook’s Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade Mysteries and Sharon Pape’s Portrait of Crime Mysteries. Sheriff Kenni Lowry has been sheriff in Cottonwood, Kentucky since she was elected to fill her grandfather’s seat after he passed away. She learned that since she took over his ghost has been scaring criminals away so there was virtually no crime in the town at all. When the doctor that has taken care of the town forever is murdered, the ghost makes hims
Fixin to Die is the first book in the Kenni Lowry Mystery series by USA Today bestselling author Tonya Kappes. I would love to live in Cottonwood, Kentucky. Sheriff Kenni Lowry's day goes from bad to worse when she has her first murder in two years on the job followed by a jewelry store robbery right afterward. Kenni has had a fairly calm job until now and she goes to her Poppa's grave to talk over her fears about her ability to solve the murder. Her talk apparently does something because shortly after, her grandfather makes an appearance. He lets her know he has been watching out for her and now he's here to help.

I received an advanced copy for my honest review, that said, I have also pre-ordered this book...This is a great read! Now, I will not give you any spoilers for this book, with that, Sheriff Kenni Lowry has not had any major crime to deal with since she took her position in the small town of Cottonwood, where gossip runs freely and everyone wants to put their two-cents worth in, until she received a call that Dr. Walton was found dead. There are people who would love to see her fail, however, sh ...more

I have read Tonya Kappes’ other series and she has not disappointment me as reader of the mystery and paranormal stories.

Fixin to Die is a great start to Tonya Kappes’ new series about Sheriff Kenni Lowry of Cottonwood, KY. Tonya’s writing jumps you right in to the mystery and follow the plot twists to solve the first murder since Kenni has been elected Sheriff. I loved this fun quirky, paranormal, totally southern mystery. Kenni Lowry is the sheriff of Cottonwood, Ky. and after two years with no crime she finds herself with a murder and a robbery all in the same day. I like Kappes' strong, independent women characters in her books and the way that she makes them so relatable. The townspeople are all quirky and some quite annoying just like a real southern town. I have always said that Tonya always keeps me guessing until the very end. This book was no different. Kenni Lowry is the sheriff in Cottonwood, KY, for 2 years there's been no crimes, now there's a murder and robbery. Who did it, are they connected? Is there a vampire in Cottonwood?

Kenni gets some special help to solve these crimes, I don't want to spoil it for you... But I could only wish that this could happen for me.

Sheriff Kendrick (Kenni) Lowry, grandaughter of the late sheriff Elmer Sims, was elected sherriff two years earlier. Now that her deputy has retired she works alone. This is not usually a problem as there has been almost no crime in her two years in office until now. There is a murder and a break-in in just one day. The town must call in someone to help. Finn Vincent arrives from the Kentucky State Reserve. Kenni also asks Wyatt, the jailer, to also be part of the investigation. The stress seems ...more

The thing I like about reading a new Tonya Kappe book, is the fact that no matter what the book is about or which direction she goes, it is going to be a fun read. Her characters are real people-people you want to know-people you can pick out from your own life. This realism extends to the point that you almost accept what the main characters say/do/think without much resistance.

Tonya Kappes gets high marks for another great series!
