The Chosen Knights
This was really fun to read again. I did it because its sequel is out and I wanted to remind myself of all the ins and outs of this story. I am really glad I did, it was a really fun book to revisit!
Again, another book with no faults.
perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare. Angels, demons and more supernatural beings in Hawaii!
I need the sequel... Mary, I love you!!
What I loved was the uniqueness of this novel. I have read many angels and demons books and The Chosen Knights is very different compared to the ones I’ve read, in a good way. I enjoyed the twists and turns. I believe fans of angels and demons will enjoy this novel!
‘The Chosen Knights’ is the first novel in the spinoff series 'The Angel Knights'. This is the second series which the author, Mary Ting, has written about the wonderful world of angels and demons set in Crossroads, a place where Nephilim children reside. If you're new to this author and/or series, you may want to start with the either the prequel, 'The Angel Knights', or go back to where it all began in the 'Crossr...more
When I pick up a book with so many 5 stars ratings and raving reviews I expect a certain level of writing and character development and such.
Sadly, many times great ratings don’t mean a great book. I have to say the idea for this story was very attractive and I really wanted to like it. The concept of angels protecting humans from demons, fighting alongside other demons and supernatural beings is very interesting and should be highly entertaining.
I believe the biggest issue I had with th ...more
There are a lot of characters in this story, which I thought would become confusing, but the author makes each one believable and a real, true part of the narrative so they fit in without any trouble and feel necessary in relationship to everyone else. All of the usual high school problems are complicated by the whirlwind paranormal aspect of their lives, much like in Michelle Madow's The E ...more
The Chosen Knights by Mary Ting is an urban fantasy lover’s dream! There are demons, vampires, angels, and fallen angels all set to the back drop of high school in Hawaii. What more could you ask for?! If you are new to Mary Ting, I highly recommend reading either The Angel Knights, the prequel which will give you a little background t ...more
A fascinating YA urban fantasy, The Chosen Knights captured my attention from the very first page and left me wanting more.
The first full-length book in The Angel Knights series features the children of characters from another Mary Ting series, Crossroads Saga. I have not yet read that series, but I was able to follow along just fine so readers shouldn’t worry if they haven’t read it. Although, rea ...more
I was given this book for my honest review.
This is a spinoff to the Crossroads Saga and can be read as a stand-alone
“I told you to keep it on at all times. What do I have to do to make you listen to me?” It was Eli’s voice. My heart galloped like Midnight racing for the finish line. Surely I was hallucinating, but how did my necklace move by itself? Was I delusional? As if he could read my mind, he spoke, It’s me, Lucia I’m here. I’m astral traveling, but I can’t hold on. I’m weak ...more
What an extraordinary read this was!! I enjoyed turning each magical page from beginning to end.
The characters were phenomenal! I felt as if I could connect with them and feel every emotion that flowed off of each page.
The story-line was mystical and magical. There was so much that went on. I was completely enchanted by this story. Everything I thought was going to happen turned out wrong. I love how the author spun this web and rele ...more
I was intrigued by the synopsis and the idea of the story. I liked that it was set in Hawaii. I thought the idea of the descendants of the Knights Templar being at risk and fighting for their lives.
In all honesty, I struggled with this book. I've looked at the 5-star reviews and am wondering what I missed. I enjoyed the descriptions and the set up. If you haven't read the first book in the series, Angel Knights, you could still read this book and understand what's happening. The mystery of the ...more
To do this Lucia and Zach must uproot leave their parents and world behind them and become high school students, mystery, love and action plays part to The Chosen Knights being a really good keep you hooked book.
Mary Ting is a new for me author and m so glad I have discovered her but now I'm left hanging until I can get my hands on book 2.
But other than my issues with the heroine, it's a pretty good and fast read. Lucia still has time to redeem herself.

The Chosen Knights is the first installment in author Mary Ting's The Angel Knights series. As you have read in my review of The Angel Knights above, this series features the Nephilim twins of Claudia Emerson and Michael who you may have read about in the author's Crossroads series. Things have changed. Lucia, Zachary, and Devin have moved to Hawaii to uncover why there seems to be such an imbalance of supe ...more
I really loved catching up on this series. I remember that I liked the romance, and that still stands true. While this is not necessarily instalove, I feel that the relationship formed a little too quickly. Though I think this is because this book is a fast-paced read. I did enjoy the characters for the most part. Sometimes the dialogue felt forced and cheesy, but there were some hidden gems sprinkled throughout as wel ...more
I was so excited for this book! Back in the lives of the Angels and the Crossroads world! Oh, how I have missed them. We get to see how Davin, Zack, and Lucia survive in the human world. As if being a teenager in high school isn't hard enough. Try being an angel who has never been aroun ...more

**** 4 Cranky Stars ****
The story of Lucia and Zach, twin Angel warriors and their supervisor and Uncle, Devan are sent to Hawaii on a mission to investigate the disappearance of several teens.
They have to blend with the humans at the local high school to try and discover the evil. They however get more than they bargained for with half the student body being supernatural beings.
The story is told from Lucia's POV and explores her growing relationship with their neighbor, the dorky Jack, who be ...more

The Angel Knights series follows the twin children, Zachary and Lucia, of Nephilim Michael and the not quite human Claudia, along with their loyal friend Davin from The Crossroads Saga. Zachary and Lucia along with their mentor “uncle” Davin are starting on an extended assignment on the island of Hawaii as Venators, demon hunters in response to the several teen disappearances and increased demon activity in that area.

The Chosen Knights is a wonderful story of sweet young love, tempting and forbidden, but also so much more.
It brings us back to an old beloved Crossroads Saga character - Davin, some characters we already got a glimpse of - Lucia and Zach, as well as some new exciting ones that we just couldn't have anticipated meeting, or falling in love with.
I loved how Ting managed to create an exciting twist of worlds/charact ...more
This book is the first one I've read in the series and from Mrs. Ting. The storyline looked promising and drew me in with its unique take on angels and demons. Unfortunately the sentience structure and the lack of grammar understanding took away any intrigue I may have had for this story. Sentences were constantly started with prepositional phrases, they were without verbs or were not positioned correctly to make the sentence make since. The descriptions of what they ...more
It wasn't to predictable, and I'm eager to read the next book after the cliff hanger ending that leaves one thirsty for more.
The characters were likably, it was fast flowing with a few intense moments and some action scenes.
A must read for lovers of YA paranormal fantasy.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
