When you fall in love with the most unexpected person, at the most unexpected time……

Ryan “Renegade” Kepler

I’m the type of man who knows what I want. I make up my mind and stay in my lane, never veering off the course I set for myself.

Going into the military? Did it. Youngest member of the Moonshine Task Force? That’s me. Get my best friend’s older sister in bed? It was my pleasure.

Age means nothing to me. I’ve seen and done things men twice my age never will. What I want more than anything is someone to share my life with and that person is my best friend's older sister, Whitney.

Whitney Trumbolt

Ryan is ten years my junior, but damn, being a cougar never felt as good as it did the night we spent together. Now I’m struggling with wanting things to either go back to the way they were or spend every night in his arms.

Make my wedding planning company the best in the south? Did it. Ignore the way my body trembles when I see Ryan? Epic fail. Freak out when I see a positive pregnancy test staring back at me? Complete with mascara running down my face and clutching my pearls.

Looks like things won’t go back to the way they were. There’s a man in my life that doesn’t take no for an answer. He’s the one who makes my blood run hot, cheeks turn red, and heart beat wildly within my chest. His name is Renegade.

Renegade is the first in Laramie Briscoe's brand new Moonshine Task Force series and introduces us to Ryan Kepler, aka Renegade. He's been in lust with his best friends older sister since he can remember so when he gets the chance to finally show her they could be amazing together he takes it. And blows her mind for that one amazing night. But Whitney Trumbolt has already been hurt in life and she isn't willing to put herself out there again, and especially not for someone who's ten years younger than her. But fate has other plans for them and throws one big shock at them in the form of a positive pregnancy test. Ryan is ready to prove that age is all but a number and that he'll be the best guy for Whitney.
"I can cook, fuck, and arrest bad guys."

This book started the series off with one big bang and I'm already bouncing in my seat, waiting for more to come from these men. I loved that some of their police work was actually involved in the story and that it wasn't just mentioned. Laramie really brought you into Ryan's world and it was exhilarating to feel like I was on their adventured along with them.

Whitney and Ryan definitely had a lot to work at with their relationship but I thought it was wonderful that they had a slow build up. They didn't really jump right into everything so we got to explore their characters while they explored each other. I very much enjoyed seeing them together and trying to make their situation work. Plus there were loads of smexy times that had my gripping the edges of my kindle.

Overall, I can already tell that this whole series is going to be a favorite of mine so I really hope we'll get the next book soon. Ryan and Whitney were amazing characters and I would definitely recommend their story for pretty much anyone.

Ryan "Renegade" Kepler was a good cop, a dedicated agent, a loyal friend, and a man who knew exactly what (and who) he wanted. And for years he's wanted Whitney Trumbolt. So when she drunkenly demanded that he give her a night of pleasure, he couldn't refuse. Unfortunately, in the light of day, the passion cooled and Whitney treated their intimacy as a one-night stand. A night that resulted in a much desired pregnancy. Now Ryan is about to get everything he's ever wanted if he can just convince Whitney to get out of their way.

This story had the makings of a great book: a hot Alpha hero; a heroine desperately holding on to her newfound independence; the 10-year age difference; and the chemistry. It just didn't meet the mark for me. Whitney drove me nuts and as much as I sympathized with what she went through in her past relationship, I felt that it was used as a crutch to explain her abhorrent behavior towards the exemplary character that was Ryan. I also didn't like the fact that Ryan had to placate her and jump through hoops for a chance to be a part of his child's life. They did make their child together, right? And this is one of the many reasons why family courts exist, although I was surprised that that was never brought up as an option.

Overall, this story had a lot of great things going for it and I enjoyed it.

In this first book within this series Renegade (Moonshine Task Force #1) we’re introduced to Whitney Trumbolt a thirty five year old recently divorced wedding planner and twenty-five year old Ryan ‘Renegade’ Kepler, a police officer whose best friends with Trevor, Whitney’s younger brother.

I go by nickname 'Renegade' and I'm a member of a specialized task force, along with my regular job as a cop.

The opening chapter we’re introduced to a very drunk intoxicated Whitney as she’s staring in a glass of wine trying to figure out how many she’s had. Ryan Kepler is mildly surprised when he enters their local for a beer and sees Whitney sitting at the bar nursing a glass of wine, he’s harboured a distant crush on Whitney for as far back as he can recall.

Add in the fact that she’s intoxicated to boot makes for a funny first chapter. Because drunk Whitney has no filter, and I mean none whatsoever!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic “ Ryan, I’m tellin’ you, I need my hair pulled, a red handprint across my ass, someone licking my nipples, a dick in my treasure cove. I need it all.”

PEW!! PEW!! PEW!! Sorry couldn't help myself just had to get it out lol!!

To propositioning Ryan to give her what she needs/wants/craves and he delivers just that, a one night stand filled of passion.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic All the material from my teenage spank bank Whitney Trumbolt was the star of every fantasy I’d ever had when I’d been young.

That one night stand with Ryan led to Whitney getting pregnant which is hard for her to comprehend due to the fact during her marriage it was made out to be her fault that she was unable to conceive.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

But surprise surprise what was supposed to be a one time hookup slowly progresses into something that turns into so much more.

No matter how much she tried to keep Ryan at arms length due to the gap in their ages he wouldn't have a bar of it, that fact there just made him more determined to show her age is just a number and he strived to show her how a woman should be treated.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic You either want me to be your secret, or you want me to be the father of your child. I can't and won't be both.

This was such an awesome way to spend a lazy Sunday with my nose stuck in this book, I rooted hard for this couple to go from friends to lovers to so much more and this author delivered just that, I can’t not wait for the next within this series. There may have been a ten year gap in age between these two characters but that’s what the appeal was in this book for me, he stepped up to the plate, knew exactly what to say, loved his character.

Ryan (Renegade) Kepler is a dedicated agent, a loyal friend, and a man who knows exactly what and who he wants – for years his wanted his best friend’s older sister - Whitney Trumbolt. And on a night where she has had a fair bit to drink, and her inhibitions are lowered, but Whitney’s uncertainties mean he is going to have to really persuade her that they’re more than a one night wonder, more than sizzling chemistry.

This was an ok-ish read, but for some reason I didn’t find myself potently or even lightly engrossed in the tale, in particular the heroine was just meh. The hero on the other hand I really liked, he is focused, loyal and passionate – not afraid to go after what he wants. I usually love the older woman, younger man trope but the tale and the heroine here meant that this is one read I won’t be going back to, I can barely remember what happened.

I started the series out of order, but I'm reading in the right order now and loving every moment.
The author has created wonderful heroes and we are really involved in history wanting it not to end.
Our heroine was depressed and with low self-esteem and drowned in alcohol problems and was willing to have a one-night stand with someone who caught her eye.
Our hero always admired her from afar and took the opportunity to fulfill his dream.
The two together generated an explosion with unexpected result.
Another wonderful hero that enchants us from beginning to end of reading.
I recommend!

"3.5 pew pew stars!"

First, Thank you Alex for telling me what to expect about this book. :)

Whitney is a 35 year old event planning organizer but she's more into weddings.  She's divorced and had been emotionally and physically abused by her ex husband.  One night, she went to a bar and got drunk.  In her drunkenness, she told Ryan what she wants.

Ryan "Renegade" is a 25 year old ex military, a member of Moonshine Task Force and Trevor's (Whitney's brother) best friend.  Whitney was the star of his every fantasy when he was young.

I didn't even care about their age difference because Ryan is very mature for his age.  He is practically perfect in my eyes.  He is patient with her and treated her with respect.  His endgame is to be a part of her and the baby's life permanently.

As for Whitney, I understand the reservations considering her past.  She has fears and admitting to Ryan that he got under her skin is a vulnerability she doesn't want again.

My favorite character? Ryan "Renegade"

So, if you're looking for a sweet older woman/younger man romance, this book is for you. It's a happily ever after that started with too much wine and a drunken pewpew.

This is my first book by this author. I wanted a single parent book and I sort of got it. Renegade wasn’t bad but I just don’t think I was in the mood for this book.

I wouldn’t say it’s dramatic, or light or anything out there really.

Renegade is an easy book. The characters have mild tension and there isn’t any damaged history on either one.

The Heroine is ten years older than the Hero and I usually don’t care for that. It wasn’t as big as a deal as I thought it should be.

I think I would have related to the characters a bit more if we got more of the backstory. I kind of wanted the teenage years of the Hero crushing on the Heroine.

The first 25% of the book I found the most interesting because it was pretty fast pace and hot. After that the book kind of slowed and it got.. I hate to say it, kind of boring. I ended up skimming a lot.

The Heroine came from an abusive past, but it wasn’t a big deal of the story. Overall, everything was just mild. Like I said, it wasn’t bad, just wasn’t my cuppa.

I really really enjoyed this! I'm definitely more of a fan of older hero/younger h but if they are wrote right I do enjoy older/younger hero books too. This is one of them, well written with a mature younger hero. This one is completely safe no ow/om drama at all. The h is a divorced but no ex drama. The hero is the h's brothers best friend he always had a crush on the h but was not pinning away for her either. He was really sweet and sexy. The epilogue was good even though it was 10 days later lol. We also get the set up for the next book which will be the h's brother Tank and Blaze. Now the only thing that will stop me from reading it is if he had not been celibate after they have been together, it's mentioned a few times that he has a date or plans but not who with. Keeping my fingers cross on that one!

Slick's review:

I do so love a May/December romance and author Laramie Briscoe delivers BIG TIME in Renegade! Holy freakin’ hotness; a one night stand between a man and his best friend’s older sister (by ten years) leads to fantasies come to life, dreams realized, and so much more. I loved this story from its blistering hot first chapter to the sweet and satisfying epilogue.

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and Whitney Trumbolt could very well be the poster child for that statement. Following a nightmare of a marriage and a divorce that cost her plenty, Whitney finally feels like she has her life back; her wedding planning company is one of the best around and while she’s a bit lonely she has her family and friends. Running in to her brother’s best friend, Ryan “Renegade” Kepler on a night after she’s verbally sparred one more time with her ex leads to confessions she never would have made had she not had too much to drink, but it also leads to a night of unbridled passion with lasting consequences.

Ryan Kepler has wanted Whitney since before he understood why her presence made him feel funny. He might be ten years younger, but serving his country and now in law enforcement Ryan is decisive and mature beyond his years. Whitney may not know what she wants, but Ryan has known for years that Whitney was the woman for him, now he just has to show her he is a MAN of his word, not the boy she once knew.

I appreciated that Ryan knew he had to tread lightly with Whitney and he didn’t push her especially after he figured out just how bad her past relationship had been. He showed extreme patience and fortitude because he knew in the end it would be worth the wait. While 10 years younger, he knew what he wanted and was willing to do whatever it took to get Whitney on the same page and to make sure her family understood just how important she was to him because he respected them all so much.

I loved the emotional connection in this book and while there was no denying the physical connection, it was the reverence they had towards one another that made their relationship so special.

Ms. Briscoe continues to offer up spectacular romance and does it with characters you want to befriend, believable storylines, and without a lot of drama. I highly recommend Renegade and I can’t wait until book two drops!

Synopsis:

My Thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed this spin of the older woman/younger man with a touch of unrequited love story. Ryan “Renegade” Kepler is Whitney’s brothers best friend and he has been a part of their family for a long time, as his home life was terrible. Renegade has been in love with Whitney since the day he met her. The only person that knew of his unrequited love was his best friend Trevor “Tank” Trumbolt. Whitney was oblivious to his feelings.

Whitney was married to a monster and hid that fact for a long time from her family and friends. He abused her mentally and physically until she finally had enough. They divorced, but she is carrying the scars and hurt from that relationship.

Whitney is a southern belle complete with pearls. She runs a successful wedding planning business and works long hours. She wants some fun and passion in her life, so she sets out to tie one on and find a willing partner for the evening. Renegade finds her at the bar and chases off prospective suitors. The last thing he thought was that Whitney would proposition him and he was not about to turn her down.

Whitney was so funny when she propositioned Renegade and he was amazing with her. He made sure that even though she had been drinking that she was a willing participant in their night of passion. Renegade had hopes that this was a start of something between them, but Whitney was not having it. She was embarrassed. How could she be that cougar? She was so caught up in what other people would think, she didn’t consider her feelings or Renegades.

This book takes you on the journey of healing, finding that you can love again and let someone love you. I loved watching how Renegade carefully guided their relationship. He took it as slow as Whitney needed it, but he was not going to take no for an answer when it came to being a part of his child’s life or being a partner to Whitney. There is action, there are some funny moments and some very sexy times between Renegade and Whitney. There is also family drama when Tank finds out Renegade was with his sister!

The book held my attention from the start until the last page turned. This is a great start to a new series and I look forward to more in the Moonshine Task Force series.

This is the first book in The Moonshine Task Force Series and it started with a BANG! Laramie has outdone herself with this story. I loved every minute of it and could not get enough. When I got to the last page I was swiping my Kindle looking for more wanting more because this couple is so off the hook I needed more.

Renegade is your super Alpha male that knows what he wants and goes for it. He does not let anything or anyone get in his way. He is loving his job but wants more out of life. He is looking for a woman to settle down with and raise a family. He knows who that woman is and he goes after her and after one of pure bliss he knows he wants more he wants her every night no matter what. Only there is a slight problem she is his best friends sister and older than he is. So he is wondering if she will give him a chance.

Whitney is a strong woman who has been through a rough relationship and wants nothing more than to pick up the pieces and run her business to the best of her ability making it the top Wedding Planning business in the south. She is out one day when she runs into Renegade and they spend the night together and oh boy what a night it is. They both want each other but when Whitney is afraid to make the commitment. Then she finds out something that will change her life as well as Renegades.

This was so sweet and hot and a super easy read.
The story flew by, the pacing was great and the characters were fun. Whitney wasn't overly dramatic, she was in an abusive relationship and is understandably wary of getting into something serious. Ryan is an amazing man who has loved Whitney for a long time and would do anything for her. They made a great couple and I loved seeing him prove to her that she can lean on him and he wants to be a dad.
I am definitely looking forward to reading Tank's book, another awesome guy who I'm sure will treat his woman right :)

Renegade is the first book in Laramie Briscoe's new Moonshine Task Force series. I thought this was a good start to the series. It set the groundwork for why the task force was necessary and there are obviously going to be more problems with the Strather family in the future. Is there a love interest there?? Leighton seems like a sweet girl caught up in her families problems.

I enjoy the accidental pregnancy trope and this was a sweet romance as well. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough tension for me. I loved Ryan's relationship with Whitney's family. It was perfect and one of my favorite parts of the book. The relationship between Trevor and Blaze is teased throughout and I cannot wait.

I received an advance review copy of this book that I have chosen to review.

My introduction to Laramie Briscoe came through Menace, book five in the Moonshine Task Force series, and since then I have wanted more. Thus, I decided it was finally time to go back to the start of the series and work my way through it. After all, I adored Menace and was excited to find out more about the characters.

If I’m being completely honest, I was a wee bit unsure about Renegade at first. It was an interesting story, I was more than happy to power through it, but it wasn’t pulling the intended emotions out of me. I was curious, but I wasn’t wholly invested. Nevertheless, as I was enjoying it I continued.

Part way through my feelings changed.

The story went from being ‘okay’ to being ‘hot damn, I cannot turn the pages fast enough’. A switch was flicked, and I found myself obsessed. I fell in love with the characters and the events, and I could not get enough of the story. It may have been a slow starter, but once I was invested I found the story impossible to put down.

As much as I did come to enjoy the main characters, I think I was more interested in the side characters and the promise of what will come to pass in book two. With such a great cast of characters, it’s no surprise I found myself invested in everyone – yet I am super eager for book two.

Without a doubt, I’ll be diving into Tank soon!

4.5 stars. This was great low-angst read with likeable characters and decent development. The Hero, Renegade/Ryan, might have been a little too perfect but he was really sweet and loveable. The heroine, Whitney, is ten years older and his brother's best friend, and is still getting over a bad marriage and divorce. A one night stand with Renegade leads to an unexpected pregnancy when she had thought she couldn't get pregnant. The book follows Renegade and Whitney as they try to learn how to get along for the baby's sake and inevitably fall in love.

The book is pretty fast paced but does show decent development and backstory for its length, and secondary characters who were supportive and not pushy (I hate the meddling mom/friend/sibling trope). The intimate scenes were balanced and didn't take over the story to the detriment of the romance.

I definitely recommend this book for an easy, satisfying read with a hot, cuddly H.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoy Laramie's books as they are so easy to read and the H's are always great. I loved Ryan, his tenacity in getting Whitney to take him seriously and realise he was in for the long haul. It was also nice to see a h not put too many barriers up so there is not a lot of back and forwards which can be irritating! All in all an enjoyable read and I really want Tank's book!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

I enjoyed this book so much. I felt so sorry for Whitney and what she went through and then when she and Ryan got together, I thought that it would be their happily ever after.

But it took a while for Whitney to come to terms with the fact that she deserves to be happy and for someone who plans other people's weddings maybe it was time for her to have her happily ever after.

Ryan was awesome, even though he was younger than Whitney he knew what he wanted and knew that he wanted her. He has been in love with her since they were young and never thought it would happen but this was his chance. Now all he needed to do was prove to her that he was the one for her.

Awesome story and I can't wait to read the next one in this series

This is probably one of favorite books by Laramie. It worked on so many levels for me, it's not a drama fueled book. All the issues were mostly in Whitneys head.

Ryan has always had a crush on his best friends sister but, has never pursued anything until he spots Whitney drunk in a bar and she confesses her desires to him. That one night gives Whitney much more than she anticipated.

Ryan was incredible!! He was so tender, caring, alpha, loving the list goes on and on! He understood that Whitney had dealt with so much with her ex husband and was determined to show her how a real man loves a woman.

I can't wait for more from this series.

A mostly solid ONS + pregnancy = love story - 3*

Whitney is 35 and recently divorced from an abusive man. She gets drunks and takes home her 25 year old brother's best friend Ryan (AKA Renegade). He has been in love with her since his teens and pulls out all the stops to rock her world but then the next morning she wants to pretend it did not happen. Only one teensy tiny little problem. (Is it a plot-moppet if it is in utero? )

What I really did like about this book is that for the most part they act as adults. Whitney has a few less than stellar moments but no one is perfect. Given that her prior relationship was entirely toxic and she is living with pregnancy hormones I thought it was all believable. I did think they took too long to tell the brother who knows she is pregnant but just not who the dad is. However it in no way made me think less of the book. Ryan was exceptionally focused and responsible. He wants the baby and the woman. He knows Whitney is not ready to make that commitment but he steadfastly works on wooing her. I would let my daughter date him.

What I did not like was the whole concept that Whitney had the power to keep him from his child. I am not talking about her ability to be a horrible person who runs away with the child but just the idea that legally mothers get to decide if Dad can see his kid. That is not true and not a helpful idea to promote. I also found the backstory about Ryan and Whitney's parents entirely unbelievable and inconsistent. Both are fairly minor complaints and did not change my rating. I suspect i will read the next one but I am also not rushing to read it right now.

Wow. I just finished this and I have a stupid cheesy grin on my face because I absolutely loved it!

Ryan and Whitney were wonderful together. I want Ryan for myself lol

There was a perfect balance of romance and action. I love the task force that this is centered on. And Yahoo that it's in Alabama :)

This is my first read by this author. I was intrigued by the synopsis. This book is the first in a series about the Moonshine Task Force. Ryan “Renegade” Kepler has known Whitney most of his life. She is his best friend’s older sister. One drunken encounter with Whitney and he knows he needs to do everything in his power to convince her they will be great together. A positive pregnancy test just adds to the urgency of convincing her that age means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I liked Renegade in this story. Despite his rough upbringing, he seems to have his head on straight and his priorities in order. Whitney on the other hand, has also had a rough go with her ex-husband. She feels unworthy of the attention Ryan gives her. It takes quite a bit of time for her to get out of her head.

This book is for the most part, a drama free romance. Yes, there is a pregnancy, but Whitney’s family is supportive and once she lets her guard down, she and Ryan start to build something together. My only issue with the book is that I don’t think it does a great job of setting up the series. We see the task force take down a couple of stills, but I didn’t get the sense of brotherhood or even the urgency to know more about the rest of the team other than Whitney’s brother Tank.

I am interested in reading more. I hope as the story progresses there is more of a connection with the team and with their relationships with each other.

If you like super sweet romances, then this
one is for you. Ryan and Whitney have known
each other for years. Ryan is Whitney's 10
yr. younger brothers best friend.

He has always loved her, crushed on her since
he was a teen. Whitney was coming out of
an abusive marriage and always saw Ryan
as her baby brothers best friend.

One weak moment in a bar, a one night stand
later, and we get a really sweet story from
these two.

I liked the simplicity of this story, and I
will def. read more by this author.

Renegade is the first book in The Moonshine Task Force Series by Laramie Briscoe.
These Task Force are 5 men, friends and colleaques are members of a Special OPS .

Meet Whitney Trumbolt, a 35 year old divorcee and wedding planer; And Ryan Renegade Kepler, best friend of Whitney´s much younger brother Trevor, cop and spec. OPS member.
They live and work in Laurel Springs Alabama.

Whitney and Ryan have a ONS and she gets preggo.
And now the fun begins. Both have issues. She with his age and her self esteem, he with his lack of family and her issues.
They try to make it work. But can they overcome their differences?
Can they really build a life together?

I liked the characters, I liked how they interacted and I really liked to read this book.
5 Stars and I can´t wait till Trevors book. Thank you Laramie Briscoe.
