This book is like driving by a train wreck, you shouldn't look, but you can't stop yourself and the dark curiosity in the back of your head.
After reading this one I have come to the realization that both of these people are psychopaths, Laney probably doesn't realize it, but the Stranger is probably aware. You get the feeling that at times Stranger does things just to see if he can get Laney to dance to his tune. It will be interesting to see where things go from here for this crazy couple.

Làaaaaaaaaàaaaaaaaaa I can't I can't till November to see what happens next ! Hide picks up exactly where Crash left us , and good god if these characters aren't crazy ! The stranger is still a mystery , Laney is a walking contradiction - more so like she knows which parts to play best and when ! Both of them are straight up cuckoo , and I have no clue how all this will end ! Next up is Expose , from the Strangers POV! Fucking finally !!!

Honestly, I am more confused after reading Hide that it is frustrating. I expected to know more about the backstory of the two main characters with this book and didn’t get it.
Hide picks up immediately after Crash ends. Laney’s history is explained more through inner dialog and some conversations with the stranger, however, I’m not sure what is revealed is the truth or partial truths. What is discovered helps me see what her life is like in Seattle from a young age and what type of person she is as an adult. It also shows a little about the reason she hides. There are moments that her back story made me feel pity, but not enough to make me care about either character yet. If it makes sense, I do care about the story and “the victims” or past mistakes of these two, but it is like watching a Criminal Minds show without the procedural. I’m trying to get into the psyche of craziness.
Laney is a good manipulator especially when it comes to men. She uses them for temporary “feel good” moments. She doesn’t have any qualms about hurting the women in their lives to get the men she wants. She has excuses that aren’t always valid or believable. What we do know is still glimpses of her life that may or may not be complete.
Regarding “Cody” a.k.a. the stranger, his backstory is still a mystery. There are hints about who and what he is but he is still unknown, not only to the reader but also to Laney. All she knows is that she likes his dominant nature and control and how he brings out something she needs. She does feel like a prisoner occasionally, but for the most part, they are partners.
Drew Jordon’s writing is excellent and holds the reader’s attention. Personally, I tend to classify this series more plot driven than character driven even though there are very few characters outside of the primary characters. The reason I say this is because I am more interested to find out what they do next than I care about Laney and the stranger.
It is tough to become invested in the characters because there are so many lies and mysteries regarding the community, their family, and friends, between each other and for the reader. I don’t think I ever read a more frustrating book. It is a strange comment to make because the whole time I’m reading and frustrated I want more. I need to know what happens next.
The box set is a good option now that it is available.

And the crazy tale of Laney and the Stranger continues. After the intensity and engrossing way the story began in Crash, the first book in this trilogy, I felt that the plot dragged a bit. I didn’t like Laney as much in this book as I was no longer able to relate to her much. She didn’t annoy me, I guess just seeing how truly messed up she is made me perceive her somewhat differently. The Stranger was still intriguing and a big mystery. I read this book cover to cover and immediately moved on to the last book in the trilogy. This book was definitely darker than the first one.

Hide is the second book in the Crash trilogy by Drew Jordan and if you aren’t a fan of dark, kinky, psychological romance, stop right here. Otherwise, commence on. I’ve gone through the reviews on Amazon and such and realized one thing, this type of book isn’t for everyone. Unfortunately, some people review based on how characters behave and on their sexual proclivities. To them I say, Just put the book down, move on to a book you DO like, and don’t bother leaving a review. Or, as my mother always said, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. My dad’s version was the same but the last part was ...then just keep your f*ing trap shut! : )
On to the book review! We pick up where we left off, and this is after Laney has killed Michael. So we learn without a shadow of a doubt that she really is a little crazy, but hey, she fits right in with our stranger perfectly. Then after he disposes of the body with a snow machine, he spanks her, they have some wild and nasty sex, and he proceeds to tie her spread eagle to the bed with a jug of water and a straw in reach and he plans to take off and leave her there as punishment. (here’s where I add that of all the crazy, mixed up stuff that he does, this really bothers me. Until the end of the next book anyway ; ) )
We find out some more of her secrets here and they assume different names. Laney also takes a trip back home to tie up loose ends, but gets called back earlier than expected. You’ll have to read to see what happened with that, it’s just another example of how very twisted our ‘hero’ is. They are just both two very twisted people who fit together like two puzzle pieces. As crazy as some of this gets, it’s enjoyable to read, and the third book is just going to be a culmination of all this crazy and shock everyone. So exciting!

This 3 part series is really good and gets a clear recommendation "Do you have to read" from me.
Of course only if you want to give the genre "Dark Romance" a chance and if you can be open for the borderline and if you can put your own values back a bit.
The introduction to the story is fast and direct, unfiltered like almost everything in this series. There is no clear yes or no, black or white and finally no "oh so necessary" explanation why the Bad Boy is the way he is, namely bad.
But he's not just bad either. I can say, no matter how I act and evaluate his character, he's always straight ahead, direct, without filters or disguises.
She sometimes drives me into madness (probably him too as well) with her uncontrollability, impatience and childish stubbornness, but it's wonderful to read how this thrill is also allowed to go away and processed.
No matter what happens, human interaction of the couple in the daily routine, between the sheets or to friends, family and strangers it always exciting, surprising and with never too obvious background, but with reason.
Everything always depends a little bit on the point of view, the point of view and the readiness of the reader to get involved in uneven, uncomfortable terrain. If you as a reader dare to approach the story in an open and unbiased way and just let it pass, it is so interesting and captivating, a real "page turner", an interesting adventure, far away from home.
Everything is always a bit "in between" and that's the fascinating thing about this story. And despite or just because almost all borders, laws and moral concepts are crossed and there is clear injustice, we have at least one HEA (also for "dark" romantic characters).
This thought makes me smile and gives me a good feeling, no matter where or how, love is possible and has its own way.

Just wow. Laney has done the unthinkable and now her captor has become her protector.
The sequel to Crash is fraught with mounting tension. The onion peel layers of their secrets are revealed and inside Laney's mind is a jumble of thoughts but one clearly stands out -- the stranger is hers as much as she is his.
I'm torn between calling it a love story or a steamy dark thriller. But just like the stranger intones, maybe there are no labels for a book where the anti-hero and heroine are so out of control.
It hits all the deep places inside us where we secretly long to destroy those who have been the source of rejection, abandonment, and disingenuous feelings. It's so twisted and snarky all at once, at times Laney is absolutely nuts and then amazingly brilliant.
So yeah, wow, because there's no other way to describe it.

I think for the first time since I started to read this tips of books, that I don’t know what to think. I’m at an impasse.
The book continues where the first book ended. Like I said, the “LOVE” make things interesting. We discover more secrets about them both. The sex is great between them.
The woodsman is more human and we see a sensitive part of him. He is very possessive of Lainey, very jealous and very manipulative. I think they’re both fucked up in the head.
We still don’t have his name, though. I didn’t like his lie. I got really mad. That is not love, that is a sickness.
But can’t wait to read the next book, where I hope I will understand all this mindfuck.

Wow! Just wow! This series so far is one of those series that when you finish reading the book, you barely know which way is up or down, let alone what just happened lol. Hide starts right where Crash stopped, Laney has killed a man to keep him from taking her from her stranger and her stranger has helped dispose of the body. Not too long after that Laney is discovered to be alive and she goes back to Seattle to see her friends and family and to pack up her stuff so she can move in with her stranger permanently. This is one of those books that I couldn't really decide if I loved it or hated it, it had me so on edge lol. Laney and her strangers relationship is so messed up and filled with secrets that it makes me compare them to the Joker and Harley Quinn a little. They are two unbalanced, not quite right people, in love with each other and in a relationship that most people wouldn't be comfortable with and yet it the most perfect relationship for them and makes them whole. I can't wait to finally be able to read the strangers story and to see them get their final, settled HEA. This series has taken some interesting twists and turns and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I'm hooked. I loved #1 ‘Crash’, but found this one even better. Want to give it 10**********
I could not put it down; well actually I made myself walk away a few times to 'breathe'. The characters are all flesh on bone real; the descriptions of places and events, made me feel like I was right there in the action. This book is bang to rights with the type of story I prefer; it is a scary dark and delicious psychological trip. Layer, upon layer, upon layer, being peeled slowly away, until I'm a wreck, with my hands over my eyes - too scared to see what's coming next. It’s like a ghost story, without the ghost. Or maybe the ‘stranger’, ‘Him’ is the ‘ghost’. I do know, it would make one hell of a movie or even better, a 3 part TV serial. It’s that good.
Laney is more human in this book than in book one and I really warmed to her predicament, although why she did what she did (you'll have to read the book) is beyond me, and seemed rather a desperate act on her part; it will all unravel in an awful way. I am now VERY scared for her; she is a total innocent in spite of some of her actions. Karma is a 'b*tch'; what comes around, goes around. I enjoyed discovering more about her childhood traumas; about her mum and stepdad; about her daughter/sister. She is such an ordinary young woman, who through no fault of her own, has found herself in an extraordinary situation/relationship with HIM; the STRANGER. He is both her saviour and her ‘monster’.
‘He’ still has no name; not one he is willing to give up anyway. He is so dark and mysterious, so very scary and yet so damn sexy (in a terrifying way), that he will be giving me nightmares for ages to come, no doubt. He’s a man of very few words, which is why, when he does deign to speak, I find myself hanging on his every word. The whole premise of this story is brilliant and beaucoup kudos to the author; really inspired and it works. ‘He’ is the most manipulative 'Alpha' I've ever come across; he is too intense for this to have a good outcome. I just can't see this ending in a HEA, and I'm fine with that, so for me, it can go either way. I don't believe his protestations of love for Laney for one nanosecond; he is going to 'screw' her big time, I feel.
The pace of this book was way too fast, as I didn't want it to end, ever, but it's a roller coaster of lies and deceit, which does not let up until the last sentence.
“Who is Cody?” And more important, who was he? “Why does it matter?” I swallowed, finding it hard to breathe with him so close to me. His fingers continued to caress my body, his shoulders blocking the light behind me. “It doesn’t matter.” He leaned over and retrieved the zip ties. “Then let’s make this look real and convincing.” I wasn’t even sure I knew what was real anymore. Maybe I never had. “Raise your arms up.” But I obeyed without hesitation. He smiled. “Good girl.” Because the greatest love stories start with blood and end with death. But in the middle they’re filled with love. And lies.”

The writing was even better, and 'tighter' than in book 1, with the author really getting into her stride here. Miss Jordan knows how to tell a story well; how to titillate and frighten her audience; how to make us THINK; how to grab us, and make us want more. I thank her for that, as so few writers have this skill. When she writes as any of the males in these 2 books, you have no doubt that it's a male voice you’re hearing; again many other authors struggle to do this. I can't believe these are her first published works, and wonder if she is writing as 'somebody' else, as a lot of authors like to do? Interesting. I would read anything by this author, at the drop of a hat, and hope she continues to share her wonderful imagination and talent, with us.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW
I reviewed the series as a whole with spoilers HERE.
I had to take a few days to let this outré tale of Laney & The Stranger percolate. The more I thought about it the more I loved how Drew Jordan peels back all the layers of these characters. Nothing happens prematurely. Questions are answered at just the right moment, then new ones arise.
Laney in Book 1 was a woman I related to and wanted to root for. As we come to know her more in Hide, shocking secrets are unveiled and you see her in a whole different light. Stuff that occurred in Book 1, things that Laney did, definitely takes on new meaning. Stuff that she does here in this book makes perfect sense given the woman she is revealed to be. But I still wanted to root for her.
By seeing her in a different light I don't mean in a love or hate kind of why ... but more in terms of that spark of realization and understanding you get when you give up your initial impression of a person and start to really see the real them and you think 'Oh, so that's the kind of person you are'.
Her and the Stranger's relationship is as combustible - in a perversely good way - as ever and things come to a head when they begin to work in tandem to achieve a common goal.
Jordan keeps the mystery tight, which keeps those pages turning. We delve deeper into the depths of Laney's mind, a place that's equally stunning as it is fascinating, but there are still questions. Questions about just how far she'll go...
I'm being deliberately vague in this review because as I said in my review of Book 1, the unraveling mystery is what make this series unputdownable. To spoil yourself would be to spoil the whole experience.
Overall, I absolutely love the psychological aspect of this mystery thriller. It's terrifying in its accuracy of the subject matter it portrays. This is not a dark tale that deals in outright trauma, violence and gore; it eloquently toys with your mind, leaving you in a state of unease and dread. The Stranger is by far one of the most chilling characters I've ever come across. Laney is in over her head and she has NO clue ... or does she?
I'm equally turned on as I am terrified of him! That's the gem in Jordan's writing, ... it's so immersive. You're not just reading about the heroine of this story, you become her and you experience every disturbing, puzzling interaction she has with the Stranger viscerally. I love it! This series is definitely heading toward a 5 star rating for me. A rare feat!

1.5 stars? i didn’t really understand the ending but you best believe i’m reading the third one.

there’s something about how these INSANE secrets just keep coming out and showing that laney could’ve been the crazier one the whole time and i lowkey kinda love how she’ll just admit this shit casually.
obviously i don’t condone anything like this irl but in the back of the first book jordan was like “i was challenged to write without rules” and that’s what i love about fiction and this series so far is it’s just so WILD but it’s okay and i support it because it’s not real lmao
but some things just didn’t really make sense like the “r*pe kit” at the end? if they didn’t find the body then was he just buying that shit for fun? anyways
both these people have such complex lives living in the wilderness where there’s absolutely nothing and it’s so crazy the contrast of it and i really enjoy that too.

Wow. When I started this second book of the trilogy I was not expecting Crazy Laney. I mean I was certain she was broken in more ways than one, especially after the ending of the first book, but I was not expecting shattered and blown to the wind like confetti. Surely these two are a perfect match. Different kind of crazy, but definitely the same amount.
I am taking one star just because it felt like the author took her a bit too far from Laney the doll. I would think that this much crazy would have been more visible from the start. Her story is just a bit too messed up.
However, the storyline and the characters are for sure worth another book and I can't wait to look at things from the stranger's perspective. I just hope he doesn't just retell the story, but continues it. And I hope his 'voice' is as badass as his character.

A twisty tale
This book picks up right where the first one ended on a cliffhanger.
Laney & the Stranger’s relationship has been progressing from where she started out as a rescued victim of a plane crash to a woman kept as prisoner. She may seem to have some Stockholm, or maybe she is truly falling in live. I believe it’s a some of both.
Their lives keep moving, but questions arise when the law finds out Laney really is the survivor, who they feared was dead that they’ve been searching for. And that in itself has implications of things that Laney must do because of the news surrounding her.
While there are uncomfortable things & things they flat out don’t want to do, Laney & the Stranger now have a role to play, beyond the lifestyle they’ve been living.

Laney and the stranger are still together, but everyone is looking for her. Law enforcement is coming around, trying to figure out what happened to her and if she's being held against her will. Will her love for the stranger be strong enough to go against everyone?
This book was a little better than the first one, and has a better plot line. Laney definitely has Stockholm Syndrome and given her past with men it's not surprising how she is with the stranger.
The story has gotten intriguing since we still don't know who the stranger is, and are left with more mystery than answers about him. The author did a much better job creating an intricate plot in this book than in the previous one.

Similar review to the one I left about Crash... wow! I was a little nervous that now it would fall a bit flat since it seemed to stroll into a typical romance but this writer definitely knows what they are doing and gives us an original view.
I'm still super in and diving into Expose today. I am thrilled the third one will be told in the stranger's voice and I can't wait for everything to be revealed.
I almost don't want to read it as I know this will bring me to the end... So good!

Who is he?
This is a great read! Who the hell is this man? We’re learning everything about Laney and she’s definitely got some major issues but seems to be resolving them. This guy tho? I’m not sure but this is just about to be revealed piece by piece. If you love romantic dark mysteries read this book after Crash and before Expose. Read in order and don’t miss this great series!

I need more stars
So this book unlike anything I've read, the character tell their tale of their past so you have to pay attention to the names used as it is reveling to the reader their reasons for who they are.
This series has kept me on edge and I am excited to begin it's conclusion up next.

This sequel to Crash is a seamless continuation of Laney and The Stranger's story. My main issue is that it's only 122 pages. That's right. One hundred and twenty two pages for $3.99. It ends with a tentative HEA, but leaves the door open for the conclusion for those that need it. All in all its a great erotic psychological thriller with so many layers, that you'll be relishing every page.

Again, wow. This series is worth every penny. After I saw the rec in a Facebook group I thought it sounded like something I would like but I had never read anything by this author before and I just wasn’t sure. I wish I had snatched it up and read it immediately. I can’t recommend this enough. I’ve never read anything quite like it before but I love it.
