I grew up in the Midlands, but when I moved to Wales, over twenty years ago, I found a place to finally put down roots. I married into a farming family and embarked on a massive learning curve which also saw me learning Welsh when my two children were small.
Writing is something I have always wanted to do and I can still remember the thrill of one of my short stories being held up as an example to the class when I was about nine. It wasn’t until my own children were in school that I seriously started to pursue my dream. I joined a local writing group which met every Monday afternoon and being with like-minded people was the boost I needed.

Reading romance had always been my first love, and just about every short story I wrote was romance, so I decided to write my first book. During that process I also attended my first weekend writing course with Kate Walker and joined the RNA’s fabulous New Writers’ Scheme. A short time later I joined Romance Writers of Australia and learnt a lot from entering their competitions. I sought out courses and you can imagine my joy when I discovered Sharon Kendrick’s course in beautiful Tuscany.

Behind the Scandalous Façade, my So You Think You Can Write entry, is my thirteenth book and although only eight have those magic words ‘the end’ written on them the others are definitely part of the learning process I have enjoyed over the last six years.

I love escaping to distant shores with my characters, entering their glamorous world and feeling all the emotions they experience as they discover their love for one another. A love so strong it will overcome all obstacles eventually, leading to that promised happy ever after.

According to me a Prologue or the 1st Chapter of a book is THE reflection - SO it must capture my attention from page 1 I will continue a few more chapters to give the Book a fair chance to change my mind!
SO Herewith my review!

Harlequin books are just such fun reads, I think they scrutinize the authors work so many time - as Harlequin does have a certain standard to obtain

I haven't read these types of books in ages - and I must admit I LIKED! - I received quite a few on Netgalley so I have quite a few quick reads :D

The author writing was excellent - but the book was just not what I expected so alas the 3 stars

The book reminded me of this song ;-) -
Me and my songs I think I irritate quite a few people sorry but do not listen to it if you do not like my adds

3.75 Rating.

Liev is a Russian Billionaire that came from a tragic childhood, but made something of himself. His goal is to be accepted into New York's elite society and seek revenge for a wrong done to his family. His key to achieve both is Bianca Di Sione. He uses the presence that he would like to hire her to promote his company, but Bianca has turned him down several times because she is too busy with the launch of something big for her brothers company. And that is Liev's target of revenge, Bianca's brother and his company.

Liev overhears Bianca talking to her sister about a bracelet that she needs to find for their grandfather who is dying. Liev obtains the bracelet and uses it to blackmail Bianca. He asks her to be his fake fiancee for a few months so that it will help him to move up the social ladder. Bianca's family name is well known and part of the elite social circle. She agrees to the plan because she must obtain that bracelet for her grandfather at all cost. In reality he wants to obtain information through her to destroy her brothers company.

Bianca and Liev find they are very attracted to each other and fight it at first. Bianca and Liev have trust issues from a past incident each endured. They play the part of a couple and they begin to develop strong feelings for one another. The two navigate through their past and begin to open up and give in to their mutual attraction. Secrets become revealed and they work through it to their HEA.

I found this series to have a flaw in that we seem to begin each book with a feeling that we are missing a part of the story or being thrown in a quarter way into the story with the beginning part missing. But I have to say this one has been the best so far and the first two being a real disappointment. I guess the saying third times a charm applies to this book.

My sloth win last night so I didn't write the review then. Now my German guy is not letting me remember all I'd planned to write 😓

So I'll just list some issues:
- The company ICE (forgive me if the company has another name, I've obviously forgotten by now) and its underhanded tactics ruined his father's company and practically killed both mom and dad. Why isn't he trying to ruin the people managing ICE back then instead of trying to ruin the current CEO (the h's bro)??
*** I haven't read the other Di Sione books so maybe I'm missing a point. Maybe the h's parents or grandparents were the ones managing ICE. But then I never read the H say anything negative to the h's relatives. Whatever...
- What would have happened if the h's bro hadn't investigated and try to make amends for the previous ICE management?? I would have preferred that so the H would have to choose: revenge or love.
- I never knew what did the evil ex that broke the H's heart and made him stop believing in love, I don't know if she cheated, changed him for a more profitable man or what. At least I knew what the h's evil ex did.
- H took h's virginity and afterwards he was such a jerk and she felt so hurt. That hurt lasted for 5 seconds because her following behavior was of someone who received flowers and praise after the event instead of the insults she did get.
- The h thought that confessing to the H that she was in love with him would make him colder. So to warm him up and make him confess his undying love to her, she told the H that she gave him her virginity because she wanted the bracelet for grandpa, so logical 😒

Fabulous story and another instalment in the Billionaire's Legacy series which I am loving, this is Bianca Di Sione's story and when she is charged with the job of returning one of her dying grandfather's lost mistresses she meets her match in the form of Russian Live Dragunov who intends to exact revenge from the Di Sione family and Bianca is his ticket to that but the sparks fly when they meet in more ways than one.

Bianca will do anything for her beloved grandfather but she is very much the cool Di Sione no boyfriends no affairs and there is a reason for this she just works hard for the family PR company but when she is outbid on the diamond bracelet that she wants so badly by Russian billionaire Liev Dragunov the man who has been pressuring her to work for him she must now comply to get what she wants but boy the electricity between them could light up Europe.

Live Dragunov has had a very hard life growing up but he is now a self made billionaire and has done this with strength and the anticipation of getting revenge on the family that he blames for everything that happened to him and if he must blackmail the gorgeous and ice cool Bianca then so be it. Oh but she is strong but also so innocent in so many ways and he is not really prepared for the way she makes his life change.

This is a fabulous story so very sensual and the angst between them will fire up the pages I thoroughly enjoyed this one from page one and didn't want to put it down you will be yelling at them and cheering them both on, I became that involved with the characters really MS Thomas knows how to bring them all to life and I highly recommend this one thank you MS Thomas for another winner.

While I usually enjoy fake fiancee books, I didn't care for this one. I just didn't like Liev, and I didn't buy his backstory. Instead of making him sympathetic, I thought it made him seem weak. And going to jail for 5 years for stealing a stale loaf of bread and potatoes? Even if it was in Russia, that seemed an unbelievably harsh sentence for a 13 year old. You'd like that at least he would have been given 3 squares a day, but that was never mentioned - only that he burned for revenge as he labored hard in prison. His rage was also misdirected, because Bianca's brother wasn't the person who had "destroyed" his parents. I guess I did like that the grandfather was hardly in this installment of the series, pressuring his grandkids and making them do really stupid things to get back the jewels he sold off when he was younger. Though they all seem more than ready to do reckless and unwise things to get the "lost mistresses" back all on their own.

Underwhelming. Didn't feel a connection between heroine and hero. A lot of time was spent on the business....zzzzz...boring and didn't move the romance forward.

There was a mystery involving the hero and heroine's past. Should not have been a mystery revealed later. I needed a reason to be interested in the heroine and hero, less info about them made me less interested in them. By the time the mystery was revealed I didn't care about the hero and heroine.

Diciamo che manca di trama . Sarà anche difficile orchestrare questo collegamento tra una storia o l'altra seguendo un canovaccio , ma non riesce a portarsi la storia , non comunicano . Poi un po ripetitivo .

I didn't hate it but I wasn't a massive fan either.
The H is a Big Bad Russian wanting revenge technically on the h's brother who in fact had nothing to do with the reason why he wanted revenge at all.
I didn't really like how he went about getting what he wanted but I did like his refreshing attitude towards women and sex and the h.
He went to prison for 5 years as a teen for stealing bread.
h was aright nothing special.

In a Flutter: Good mix of tropes, but not that fun for me
Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: I didn’t really get much of a sense of a particular setting or social setup, though the story is set in New York high society(ish?). I didn’t get much of a sense of a particular world built, except the new-money versus older(er)-money kind of vibe that was mentioned.
Characters: I’m terribly sorry to say that Bianca and Liev felt pretty flat to me. They had great potential, they really did, but I just didn’t get the sense of them being for-real, you know what I mean? I didn’t feel they had any chemistry either, and their romance was pretty dull for me as a result.
Plot: While the combination of tropes had great potential – virgin, blackmail, billionaire – things just didn’t come together for me. The tempo felt terribly slow, events came of as not-exciting, and the stakes while good didn’t create for me the sense of tension in the read.
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, his/her POV. Probably a great part of my reaction to the characters and story was the writing style, which felt a bit too narrative and certainly without humor – no banter, no snark, no witticisms -. I for one tend to respond to either fun or dramatic stories, and I didn’t get a sense To Blackmail a Di Sione was either.
Curb Appeal Nice cover, hooking blurb – impulsive buy material for my contemporary reading moods.

While many of the right ingredients were there, To Blackmail a Di Sione just didn’t end up tickling me pink much. But if you’re into sans-snark/banter contemporary romance and have a passion for the billionaire/blackmail/virgin mix with a foreign billionaire to boot, I think To Blackmail a Di Sione is worth a shot. It just wasn’t my cuppa.

Snuggled up in a warm library so I had no distractions at home I was totally captured by Liev and his mission to singlehandedly bring down Bianca's brother in the business industry and destroy him.

The best thing is that there was no pussy-footing around - Liev truly was after one thing and knowing Bianca was the only way to get to his goal he pursued her and when wine-ing and dining didn't work he went in for the kill so to speak and went after the one thing that mattered to Bianca.

With no choice Bianca starts a fake engagement with Liev, naively thinking that was the only thing he was after. Of course feelings grow and get in the way and it's an interesting ride to watch Liev's emotions as he grows in the book and while most people probably wont like it when he turns into the "he-did-not-just-do-that" man, I LOVED it. It plays hugely on your emotions and gets you 100% invested in the story because you can not imagine how everyone gets their happy ever after!

An interesting and roller-coaster of a read which had me wanting to complete it as soon as possible, just to see how it all turns out. My emotions were played with and I was loving reading a hero who was blindly putting everything on the line mistakenly thinking this would make him feel better about his past. I liked his back story and I really liked that I wanted to kick him in the shins at time. I'm not encouraging violence, I just enjoyed getting caught up in the middle of it all.

This is the first story I've read in the Di Sione series and I'm very much looking forward to reading about Bianca's siblings.

Liev lost everything as a child, when his father died. While trying to survive on the mean streets in Russia. Liev makes a vow to stop at nothing to bring down the people responsible for his death.
He works hard and becomes a billionaire. Its still not enough, he is determined to be accepted by the old rich of New York.
Enter Bianca Di Sione, a beautiful woman who can help Liev achieve both his desires.
Liev sets up a meeting with Bianca, asking her to help him with his business. Something she wont do. As she is busy arranging her brother Dario's launch of the latest phone, for his company ICE.
Liev wont accept no for an answer. Realising Bianca will be at an auction to bid on a bracelet.
He arranges to be at the auction and out bid her. He has no qualms in using her desperation to get what he wants. Liev demands she becomes his fake fiancee, for three months. And he in return will give her the bracelet she is desperate for.
The Di Sione's are an elite family, purely by being engaged to her. Doors will open for him and he will be accepted. Plus he is hoping Bianca will spill some details on her brother.
Remember the saying. There's a fine line between love and hate? I found that very apt in this situation. Liev hates Bianca for what her family did to him. And the life she lives. Bianca hates Liev because he is blackmailing her. Yet at the same time. A underlying attraction is simmering between them.
I will stop here with my review as i dont want to give away the ending.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

TO BLACKMAIL A DI SIONE by author Rachael Thomas is a September 2016 release by Harlequin Presents series.

Live Dragunov planned to take revenge for his own family’s downfall and subsequent deaths. Yet when he met Bianca Di Sione and finally managed to trick and blackmail her into being his fake fiancée, he found he couldn’t take the last step. Why? Because with Bianca he found true happiness for once in his life. Dare he lose all for revenge?

Bianca found chemistry sparked between Dragunov and her when she was in his proximity. And passion flared culminating in a hot passionate night together. Could she walk away with her heart unscathed now?

TO BLACKMAIL A DI SIONE is a highly sensual romance filled with emotions and drama. Author Rachael Thomas brought this tale of a family breaking up and leaving a child orphan, how he survived on the streets and plotted revenge against the company which was responsible for his family’s downfall then ultimately redemption. This story would enthrall a reader and keep her hooked until the very last page. I finished this story in one sitting, as I was eager to discover what happened next.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

To Blackmail a Di Sione by Rachael Thomas is everything I love about Harlequin Presents novels: exotic settings, intense banter, a deeply flawed alpha hero, explosive chemistry, razor- sharp dialogues and a feisty and independent heroine!

All Russian billionaire Liev Dragunov wants is to make the people who caused his family’s ruin to pay for their actions and what better way to instigate his revenge plot than by using Bianca Di Sione, the sister of his enemy! Though Bianca snubs him at first, Liev knows exactly what she wants—a priceless bracelet and so using the bracelet as bait he blackmails her into doing his will. She becomes his fake fiancée for a few months but what they both hadn’t bargained on was falling hard for each other. And as one thing leads to another, it isn’t before long that their attraction explodes… putting their fake engagement on a whole new pedestal!

Overall, To Blackmail a Di Sione is steamy, fast-paced and I enjoyed it from cover to cover!

Highly Recommended

3 1/2 STARS!

Fairly slow to get into, but I did enjoy seeing them develop their relationship once they let their guard down some.

Billionaire Liev Dragunov has planned revenge on those responsible for ruining his father’s business for most of his life. He grew up in a harsh way because of how things went down, and he wants someone to pay for that!

Bianca Di Sione has caught Liev’s attention and is the perfect path to his revenge, but she keeps turning down his overtures. When he discovers a weakness in her facade, he swoops in and gets his hands on the thing she wants most … an old bracelet with special meaning to her grandfather. Blackmailed into pretending to be his fiance, Bianca is bitter that he has the power to use her like this, but she lives up to her end of the bargain.

As they spend time together pretending to be a couple, real feelings start to show through … will Liev be able to avenge his family without bringing down Bianca’s?

A bude dál, pane Dragunove?“ ?

s. 46 Liev tam stál ve své mužné slávě
To si nějak nedovedu představit.

s. 84 Bianca „víc než deset let“ sponzoruje azylový dům.
To musela začít tak v sedmnácti.

s. 90 Hrdinové přijedou na ostrov. „Do nedělního rána se tu nikdo neobjeví,“ řekl Liev (...) „Do nedělního rána? Je teprve pátek!“
Zaplavou si, pošpásují, jdou spát a následující ráno jsou tam fotografové (s. 103). Kam se poděla sobota?
Na soukromý ostrov přijeli jachtou, odlétali letadlem. Hm.

s. 120 „...aby jí pomohla vyjednávat s Lievem o náhrdelníku.“ Tedy o náramku.

s. 128 Přísahala si, že příště, až zase přijede, budou všechno jinak.

Mám jisté pochybnosti o používání čárek.

s. 65 Live [Lieve]

I did not like it, I found it really hard to understand the hero and actions he takes. He was set on revenge against a company when the current CEO had nothing to do with what happened to his father. I had a hard time understanding what he did to heroine and conclusions he came to (like she's so friendly and at ease here at her families home she must have so many dates he thinks after he had just taken her virginity the day before or when her grandfather asks about the bracelet hero automatically thinks she gave her virginity up for the bracelet forgetting that she didn't have to sleep with him to get bracelet). Also I was extremely irritated when he took heroines virginity and got out of bed and then treated her like crap for most of the rest of book. Np.

** Having read about Dario (CEO of ICE, heroines brother) I wish the hero had destroyed ICE and made Dario destitute because he is one of the worst main characters I've read about

Started off real good - and had potential to be awesome especially given the reason Liev wanted revenge on the Di Sione family. But everything was left to the end and just fell flat... even the moment when the Heroine finds out the truth behind the Hero's interest in her family kinda left me a bit bummed. And the making up was almost 2 pages later! Should have been at least a couple of chapters with plenty more angst ...

I am late discovering this wonderful 8 book Di Sione series and am just now getting them read in order! I read book 6 and 7 before buying all the books and starting at the beginning. I loved the plot of this story, just like I have all the others. I really enjoy Rachel Thomas's books and am happy that she is part of this series. I really liked both the hero and heroine as they were strong and smart and the dialogue was always engaging. The chemistry between the two was undeniable and the scenes sexy. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I felt Thomas repeated the background stories of the characters too many times.

This is the third installment in The Billionaire Legacy and this one left me speechless. I couldn’t believe what was going on in this story. This story was interesting and I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen between Bianca and Liev. I wanted to know how far he would go but also how far she would go in order to get the bracelet that her grandfather wanted. Liev’s story was interesting and I was saddened for him for what he went through. But no matter what he made something of himself and now he could buy anything he wanted. Now as far as Bianca her story was interesting. In the beginning I was trying to figure out what happened to her when she was in high school. When she finally said everything I couldn’t believe what had happened to her but unfortunately that is something that happens so much in high school. But back to the two main characters they were madly in love with each other but neither said anything.

To Black a Di Sione was an excellent read. I loved this book. The characters were perfect as was the storyline. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

To Blackmail a Di Sione by Rachael Thomas
This is book 3 of THE BILLIONAIRE’S LEGACY series.
Billionaire Liev Dragunov has spent many years trying to grow up without his parents and living on the streets, stealing food and getting put behind bars. But that partially made him the man he is today and also the motivation to get revenge against those that were responsible for his family’s ruin.
Finally, he finds a way, through Bianca Di Sione. Her brother now runs the computer programing company that took everything away from his family. Bianca’s brother had not been the one responsible but her felt that he now has the company name that did it.
Bianca also grew up without her parents but the difference was she had family to go to. Liev did not! So he looked at her as if she was a spoiled princess who wanted all the best life could offer her. She wanted a particular bracelet and it was not for her but Liev did not realize that and so he was in now a bidding war for this bracelet with Bianca! He thought it was just something to add to her trinkets.
Liev had also tried to get Bianca to represent him and his company but she rebuffs every request so he had thought of a new way. He outbid her for that bracelet and then turned around and offered it to her for being a fake fiancée and she must represent his company.
But the hidden attraction for each other was too great. Even though at the end of the time set for the fake fiancée and they tried to deny what their feelings were love prevailed. She had confessed to her brother what was going on about the computer company and that Liev had blackmailed her and also that she had fallen in love with her blackmailer.
Rachael Thomas wrote a beautiful story of love, how opposites can be attracted to each other and how sometimes someone is not what we think they are.

Wowee for a story of revenge, blackmail, fake engagements and long lost family secrets, this book turned out to be a real snoozefest.

The main guy, let's call him, Mr. Russia, was super duper serious. When he wasn't thinking seriously revengey thoughts he was leering at the heroine, lets call her Miss Business woman.

Miss Business Woman had given up on dating and men because of a bad prom date. I am really not making this up.

So she sauntered around in a sexy yet businesslike way and the only thing she really set her mind on was buying a bracelet that her grandpa wanted. So when Mr. Russia outbid her she agreed to be his pretend fiance to get the bracelet! It was beyond silly. Mr. Russia, not the most enlightened of dudes think she is just a jewel hungry whore and so now his grand vengeance plan is in place. I was seriously picturing him with a clipboard crossing off item two, get a fake fiance.

This is where the story got more and more tiresome. There was a boring dinner, a boring drive home. Boring dinner conversation and an after dinner kiss that was supposed to be electric but instead seemed as erotic as watching reruns of Growing Pains (remember that show?).

Anyways I gave up on the book at the 39% point. There just didn't seem anyway to redeem these deeply dull characters and I have a lot of other stuff to read.

Bianca Di Sione is the next one sent on a mission for her grandfather to find a missing bracelet part of "the lost mistresses". Rachel Thomas has written a wonderful book in this series but a stand alone about a family that deeply love their grandfather who is ill and has done everything for them in his lifetime. Bianca is confronted by Liev Dragunov who has revenge on his mind unknown to her. He tries to approach her to get info but fails so he finds out she is trying to obtain an expensive bracelet he out bids her for it at a auction and uses it to force her hand to help him. He of course lies saying its to gain his way into present society but she will do whatever she must to obtain the bracelet. Liev has a dark past and secrets and he is not above using anyone to get what he wants except sometimes the best laid plans change especially when his feeling change and his cold heart starts to melt. Bianco is not without a sad past also. Wonderful story and again Ms. Thomas delivers a fantastic book.
