Jacinta Maree I would mark it closer to Young Adult than Adult. It does have some course language, but nothing too explicit. :D

Original Post: Time Weaver: Heart of Cogs at FLYLēF (www.flylef.com)

IN HER FIRST installment of the Time Collector series, Time Weaver: Heart of Cogs, Jacinta Maree introduces a fascinating, steampunk world with modern day genies who grant wishes in exchange for time. Yet, even while I was devouring each page of this addictively fast-paced and action-packed novel, I couldn’t help feeling some frustration by the lack of character development and world-building.

Elizabeth Wicker was born with a c

**Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for sending me an ARC of the book in return for an honest review.

3 stars!!!

When I first saw this book, I was drawn by the cover. I absolutely love the artwork. I couldn't wait to get stuck into a beautiful steampunk world that is filled with supernatural beings such as time collectors that grant wishes for the price of one's time. I thought the premise was captivating and unique. However, I must say I am a tad bit disappointed with the story. I will exp

The story grasped my attention from the beginning, even though my reviewing copy would have beneffited from a proof reading: lots of minuscules where majuscules should be, bad editing, sometimes you don't know who is talking because of how it is structured... I am assuming here that I got an uncorrected proof or something.
But when I was halfway of the book it began to be confusing. Besides the who-said-that conundrum due to bad dialogue markings, the writing flow got confusing with the voices an

The beginning of this book had so much potential. The main character is put into a rags to riches situation after the murder of her mother. The steampunk world that Maree created kept me entertained half way through the novel with elegant mansions and fancy parties. As I was reading I thought fans of A Series of Unfortunate Events might enjoy this book. However, halfway through, the plot becomes very disjointed and scattered. I did not enjoy the second half of this book at all. So many new chara ...more

I'll try not to give anything away. The story itself was so interesting that I couldn't stop until I finished.

The flow of the writing was what stunted my interest. There were some spelling errors, but that could just be from reading it off the freading app.

That aside, it was a very good read and I recommend it.

Before going to the review, first of all I would like to thank the publisher for providing me an ecopy of this book. I was waiting for this book to come out since I first found out about it. I loved Jacinta Maree’s Immortal Gene series and when I saw this book on Netgalley, I was pretty much excited and without waiting a sec I clicked on that request button. As

i found this lacking in character development and worldbuilding, which is what i say with practically every steampunk book i read (has gail carriger's awesomeness ruined the whole genre for me?).

i think my main criticism is the lack of worldbuilding, because there was a hint of steampunk in elizabeth's mechanical clock heart but there didn't seem to be any other elements anywhere else. also, i was a bit confused by the concept of the lower-class girls attending the school that trained them to be

I am blown away by the amount of planning and hidden secrets inside Time Weaver, it really is a fantastic read. There is just so much happening beneath the surface, every piece of dialogue was dripping with subtext and foreshadowing. You can just tell how much planning went into writing this novel, and I for one, really loved it.

I love the shift of Elizabeth's world, how it's never going to be just an easy life of wealth, especially when we are slowly introduced to the monsters and wars happeni

Even when my schedule is full, I can find time for a book by Jacinta Maree; she really does weave a great story. Having said that, this wasn’t my favorite of her books. That trophy is held by the Immortal Gene series.

The problem I had was that I couldn’t conjure up a vision of the world. At times it was steam-punkish, and my imagination would get started, but then some of the technology would throw me off, and I would be thrown back to a modern image. I just felt like I didn’t belong in this wor

I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish!

Beautifully written, with an intricate depth to each of the characters.

Must read!

I like the idea that this was a 'Steam Punk' novel, but I think it was a modern day steam punk, not set in a historical world like most people seem to do. I have never tried the genre before so can say it was a good way to enter into it. This book would be better classed as YA Dystopia first.

I love Jacinta's other series Soulless and felt that the writing in Time Weaver: Heart of Cogs was a little bit rushed. The ideas flew off the pages and jumped around a bit. The beginning of the story was wo

Epic

Jacinta Maree is not a new author to me, and I have been waiting for this book to release for ages. I was not disappointed. Her stories are always unique and have me on the edge of my seat. In Time Weavers she has created a dynamic world full of characters that are so vivid they leap off the page. The steampunk element isn't as present as I thought it was going to be, it's more like background noise; something that is just part of the world they inhabit. I would have liked to see more of it

A great, gripping and refreshing debut! I would definitely jump into this world if I could!

The novel takes place in a steampunk world where genies grant wishes in exchange of a persons’ time. Elizabeth Wicker is a seventeen year-old with a heart condition that lives with her mother and attends school girls of her station. The protocol of this school, however, dictates’ that she will be sold to a noble family as a maid after she turns eighteen. So

Timer Weaver is an entrancing story that will captivate you from page one. This book is full of intrigue, supernatural beings, adventure, and features a strong willed female lead. The plot to this book is extraordinary and thrilling. We get not one, but two conflicts that intertwine, lending peril and suspense to the story. We find ourselves in the middle of a struggle between two time collectors and join up with a team of supernatural hunters. We encounter witches and shadows, as well as evil h ...more

Time Weaver is an interesting read. This isn’t my usual go-to genre. But I’ve read some of Jacinta’s books previously, and I loved them.

Elizabeth Wicker has had a hard life. So many things happen to her throughout this story. That you’re left wondering, What’s next? The whole concept of Time Collectors was intriguing.

The only thing is, Time Weaver didn’t have that pull on me. It did take awhile to finish. Jacinta’s writing style is wonderful. But I was unable to connect with the characters on

3.5

A very interesting read! The only thing that gave me mixed feelings was that terrible things just kept happening to the main character the entire book without much of a break (so much that it started to get exhausting).

However, I absolutely love the concept of Time Collectors and the whole world that the author has built. I'll definitely be looking out for the next book!

I met Jacinta at an author event FYM 17, the covers of her books caught my attention which had me curious! After talking with Jacinta, I made up my mind and purchased 'Time Weaver'. I am so glad I did.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Time Weaver is a fantasy steampunk story with a decent helping of the supernatural thrown in. It focuses around Elizabeth, a young woman who finds herself rising through the class system while racing against time and Time Collectors, beings who can grant wishes in exchange for one's time. The book started out reasonably decent. Readers are introduced to the main characters, told the story behind

Time Weaver: Heart of Cogs follows Elizabeth Wicker as she is introduced to the world of Time Collectors. Modern day genies granting wishes in exchange for time. This story kept me wanting to read more with every page and for me, it didn't disappoint. I loved the characters, the story itself and the steampunk world it was set in. I liked the way that you read from multiple character views, seeing how the other characters begin to develop alongside Elizabeth.

Once again Jacinta has manage to create a world in which the reader can immerse themselves into the story, be apart of the characters lives, feeling what they feel, hope, love, hate ,betrayal. Discovering a writer/story that doesn't just bring words to a page but another world between its covers is hard to find, Time weaver is a masterpiece in story telling that offers the reader a time out from there life to enjoy another spectacular one with in its pages. Going into this book, I figured it would be a little more fast paced that it was. I enjoyed the story and the Industrial London setting infused with steampunk was interesting, but it is very clear, based on the pace of the story, that it is the first in a series. I would like to read the second book when it's out to see how the characters continue to evolve as more of the story is told.
