At the Urbana 2001 missions conference hundreds of college students were posed the question, "What is keeping you from becoming involved in the Great Commission?" Their fears were written on a large wall and later collected, compiled, and categorized. Fears such as loss of friends, loss of money, disapproval of parents, and inadequate experience surfaced as common hurdles.Missionaries, from many organizations and from around the world who have experienced these same fears, share their personal stores of how God overcame and met their needs in ways they could have never expected.
I read this book when I was first considering missions. When I started reading it, I had some reservations about giving my life to being an over-seas missionary, but after reading it, I realized that it was God's way of showing me He will never leave me no matter where I am or what I'm doing. This book helped me to be open to whatever God would have me do.
Good book. It was insightful and encouraging, and real. It was most interesting to see how often people's paths changed and they were surprised by God. It helped me to see how faith in God always prevails over our fears, and the variety of ways God works in people's lives. Worth reading.
