A laugh-out-loud story that features a fake love relationship between two heirs of rival gangs...plus, a mission to find out which girl actually holds the key to Raku's pendant—and his heart!
Love triangle! Comedic antics!! Gang warfare?! You won’t want to miss out on Shonen Jump's laugh-out-loud feel-good manga series! It's hate at first sight when Raku Ichijo first meets Chitoge Kirisaki. But much to their chagrin, the two are forced into a false love relationship to keep the peace between their feuding gangster families.
When the missing pages from the storybook that explain the origin of the keys and pendant surface, it seems like Kosaki might be the girl Raku made a promise with…but is that a sure thing? The answer is still unclear when Haru tricks Raku and Kosaki into going on a Christmas Eve date. And just when things are going well, Raku’s pendant goes missing!
Okay, so more pages from the storybook have been found, but the last page is still missing. Also, Chitoge is happily staying in Japan! (As we all knew would happen.) Raku and Onodera went on a cute date. Also, I was right (sadly) about Overall a decent volume.
After an anti-climactic dismissal of last volume's cliffhanger on page 4, this volume settles into a couple hundred pages of perfectly pleasant water treading as our hero is tricked into a mall date with one member of his harem and then kidnapped away to a paradise vacation by another. I felt foolish for thinking last volume was actually going to shake up the status quo so I'm not letting myself get anxious about this volume's cliffhanger. There are six volumes left, and it doesn't look like anything of consequence will happen until the final two or three.
While I am still enjoying this series, I'm beginning to wish they'd wrap it up. How long can this all go round and round? If they were honest with each other... I still want to see how it ends. I know he loves Onodera but please pick Chitoge.
Of course, we get a happy ending for Chitoge and the group. This was never in doubt, for anyone, I'm sure. It's still nice to see that her trying so hard got her father's attention, and that he also noticed how horrible Claude was being.
We get a tiny clue about the key storybook from when they were kids, and Raku even attempts to fix his lock and find out if Kosaki's key is a match. It's small, but at least they're trying to figure it out.
Kosaki and Raku are forced on a date together, and honestly I'm kind of over them as a possibility. I like Kosaki, but I'm not for them, and so having so many people pushing her to go for him is bothering me. After that, Marika kidnaps Raku to a deserted island with her, though we're finding out that she might be really sick. I will admit that, while I'm not on Marika's side, either, I do really like her. Her devotion and unashamed way of going after Raku is nice.
This series has finally ended in Japan, so I'm interested to see how the main plot finally starts moving forward. Aside from that, it's still a fun series.
A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, for an honest review. Thank you so, so much!
Christmas eve with Onodura and can Ichijo GET any more awkward? A sweet storyline that feels soft and genuine, followed by a lot more confused feelings. But now another contender steps into the ring. Mariko? I haven't been rooting for her at all, but New Year's might just make me change my mind.
Here's a book that shows some of what I like best about this series. I really do like all the girls, and it's hard to know who to root for. The fact that I can be 20 books in and still a little unsure is good. Also, it's nice to have book not bogged down by fluff.
A downright awesome addition to the Nisekoi story, and this time featuring my favourite cast members together for some meaningful story advancement! Raku and Onodera go to the mall on a "date", and man is it a glorious read full of laughs and feel good moments. The volume actually had some of the most suspense I've ever read from a romcom manga, and damn was it good! Definitely one of the best of the series so far! Bring on Volume 20! I can't wait for it!
While this was cute and enjoyable (especially Chitoge getting to stay in Japan until after she graduates high school) I wish that I could just find out who has the key to the locket. I feel like it is beginning to drag.
I received this advanced copy from VIZ Media through Edelweiss in exchange for my honest review.
This one has more about the picture book that inspired the whole promise Raku made with someone. We still don't know the ending and still don't know whose the book was, though this volume does not feel as drawn out as the last one. I'm wondering what is up with Mariko.... That ending is really suspenseful!
This was another good volume with a focus on the main story and characters. I hope the series ends strong like this. In this volume we see more to Marika and what she is dealing with. The storybook and locket are given more details and we are left with some new questions after getting some answers.
