He starts off by noting that Buddhism focuses on the spiritual development of a person, not their relationship to any deity. He goes into the history of the Buddha. He then defines the Middle Way as consisting of enlightenment, eternal happiness and peace.

The 4 Noble Truths are:

The Truth of Suffering: life is suffering.
The Truth of the origin of suffering and desire.
The Truth of the cessation of suffering.
The Truth of the path to the cessation of suffering.

He explains briefly what each of these are. Then he moves onto the 8-Fold Path which consists of:

Right Understanding
Right Intention
Right Speech
Right Action
Right Livelihood
Right Effort
Right Mindfulness
Right Concentration.. Again, he defines what these are.

He then moves on to the three divisions of Buddhism and what each of them consist of and practicing Buddhism .It all makes for an interesting introduction to the subject.

Great introductory for beginners.

It gave me a simple and basic understanding of Buddhism. I personally have never read anything about the philosophy until now and it helped me understand it a lot more. I will definitely do more reading and deep research on Buddhism but for those seeking a quick and basic understanding, this book will help.

Reads like a high school report

I read this book after reading Tai Morelli's on Buddhism for Beginners. Here is the link (not an affiliate link) . https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H41.... I paid $0.99 for Ms. Sharma's book and I honestly feel it was more of a booklet read rather than a book.

Brief and to the point

Was looking for a reference book that synopsizes The Four Noble Truths and The Eightfold Path. This book does exactly that along with its brief introduction to Buddhism's origins, history and branches.

Interesting

Short and simple introduction to Buddhist teachings. Perfect for a complete newcomer. Like myself. This is not a book for deep meaning. It is just an introduction.

Gives a basic idea so it is a good introduction, however very limited information, if you’d studied Buddhism at all you won’t learn anything new.

This is an educational book that puts a lot of information into a well written succinct package.Readers are going to find out amazing things about Buddha and the ways to follow the teachings to become a Buddhist. More than that, the information also teaches people to just be better people by treating ourselves and others well. The basic teachings include 4 Noble Truths, an 8 fold path and 3 universal truths. I think readers will love this book for its' simplicity and for its' valuable information. You don't have to want to be a Buddhists to be able to take knowledge from this book and use it in your own life. We could all enhance our life and relationships from the values shown in this informative book.
