This book is beautifully illustrated with cute, lovable bunnies who are gardening. Kate (little girl bunny) and her mommy are getting the garden ready for winter as summer's flowers are fading. Kate wants to save some of the flowers so mommy shows her how to save various types.

This book is absolutely adorable. Presented just as though a "knowing" mommy talks to her little one at home. After all, home is most often the first learning/teaching stage and opportunity for a little one to discover th

As fall causes all the leaves to change colors and temperatures to drop, Kate worries about all the lovely summer flowers her family has enjoyed all season long. After distinguishing between perennials and annuals, Kate's mother agrees to let her save some of the annuals. While her mother is distracted, Kate saves quite a few flowers, but once she moves her potted garden indoors, it's clear that they will have to go since her father suffers from allergies. Kate ends up bringing her flowers to he ...more

This sweet story conveys a nice message of sharing along with factual information about flowers and how to transplant them to pots for the winter season. Included after the story is a wealth of information about plants, their life cycle, flowers, and how to pot them. The colored pencil illustrations are large, doing a great job of depicting the story and using soft colors to reflect the focus on nature. However, one flaw may make the book appear dated to today’s readers: the mother rabbit uses a ...more

Have you ever been tempted to bring your outdoor plants inside when fall arrives? I have, and it didn't turn out so well. Kate gets over-ambitious, and fills her house, only to find her father is allergic! She figures out a solution: give them to neighbors!
Full color illustrations are cute (who can resist rabbits?), but some out of proportion, such as the rake and cell phone Mom is using.
Backmatter includes activities and information about plant parts, potting plants, life cycles, and flower ide

As part of full disclosure, I did receive a free copy of this book from the publisher, Arbordale Publishing Company. However, that does not affect my opinion of this fine book for children. I recommend this book for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and teachers. Written by Cindy Sommer, it is charmingly illustrated by Laurie Allen Klein. In addition to the story, there are four pages of learning activities revolving around plants and flowers.

I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway. As soon as it arrived my kids wanted me to read it to them. The story was great, the pictures are charming and I liked the fact that it gives additional information about plants in the back. I'm sure it will get read again and again.

Kate and her mother are working in the garden. Winter is coming and Kate is sad that the flowers will die in the cold. She suggests they take them inside for the winter. Her mother agrees that they can transplant a few of the plants into pots to keep inside for the winter. While she is busy on a phone call, Kate repots more than a few. When she runs out of pots, she uses cups and bowls from the pantry.

They look beautiful, but when Dad comes home, he has an allergic reaction to the garden which

An inquisitive rabbit named Kate questions why the flowers were dying. She comes up with a way to save them. There's a plot twist that puts a dent in her plan, but doesn't ruin it completely as she is quick with another amazing idea. It talks about not giving up and giving back. It's motivational for young kids in grade school. I would teach dedication and motivation in my classroom.
