This one is a quick read filled with art facts and nice chemistry between the characters. It's really cute, and I loved the story (thanks to fanfiction, I have recently learned that I have a soft spot for characters who are/have been soldiers, that's what really got me to request this title).
I think I might read some of Mrs. Wilson's other work in the near future.

Pre-review notes:
I requested this title on NetGalley and was allowed to read it. But they archived it soon after and I didn't manage t

"The Art of Us" by Teri Wilson is the story of Harper Higgins and Tom Stone, Harper is an art history professor and a Vincent van Gogh scholar who is trying to secure her tenure. At the moment she is in desperate need of an artist.

Harper and Tom collide into one another on a rainy night. Well, actually Harper collides into Tom. Harper finds out that Tom can paint really well and thinks that she has found the artist that can help her secure her tenure. Their troubles really begin when Harper tal

Poignant and touching, The Art of Us is a glorious story of two broken people and their journey to healing, joy and fulfilment together. As you might expect from the title, art is at the heart of this novel. Author Teri Wilson has written a beautiful story about Harper, an art historian classically educated in the Arts and Tom, a war veteran who paints to help him through those nights when he can't sleep.
Harper uses her qualifications and her position as an adjunct professor at the Boston Colleg

Two completely opposite people brought together by their love of art.

This is a wonderfully written story that is filled with emotion. It had me laughing and crying, both happy tears and sad. Tom began painting as a form of therapy to deal with the issues he brought home from Iraq. Never does he expect to share his pictures with anyone much less with an art professor looking to display them in a show. Harper is desperate to find an artist to showcase. She needs this show to secure her tenure. Once she convinces him to give it a shot things really start to get twis ...more

The Art of Us by a new to me author Teri Wilson. I really enjoyed this heart warming book once I got into it. Great character development and storyline. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

Both Harper and Tom are closed off characters at the beginning of the book. Having the point of view from both characters' perspective goes along way in getting to know and like these characters. I ended up really loving both leads. Harper is serious professor who has her life planned out starting with the tenure job she wants. She's also really passionate about art. Tom is trying to start a new life after leaving the military where he served in Iraq. Tom

The old adage of opposites attract could not possibly be more true for Harper and Tom. One an art historian, somewhat uptight and almost desperate to never be shown to make mistakes or admit to human frailties. The other a war veteran simply getting through the days, using his natural talents as an artist to ease the mental ravages and memories of war. Their paths might never have crossed except for a rainy day, an escaping one-eared dachshund and several misundersta

Harper Higgins (what a great name!) is a reserved art history professor looking for tenure, until she literally bumps into soldier/dog-walker/artist Tom Stone and realizes she’s really looking for something more.

Oooooh I just loved that Tom Stone. Talk about the perfect alpha … he’s an ex-soldier, doesn’t take crap from anyone, lives on a boat, doesn’t talk about his feelings but he HAS feelings, and shows his sensitive side when he’s supposed to.

Harper is a pain in the neck who won’t get out

This book is very well written and a beautiful story about two damaged and lonely people finding love and redemption. I was totally enthralled by the fictional universe Teri Wilson creates with talent, humor, lyricism and sensuality. I specially loved the gorgeous wounded hero, a softie beneath a tough appearance, the dance of mouths, lips, smiles – the poetry, eroticism and suggestiveness of it – all the imagery around the flowers,

This book is designed and meant to art lovers.

The two characters are completely different from each other and a little broken in their own ways.

First off, I love the cover of this book. It is absolutely perfect for this story. I was drawn to the gorgeous simplicity of the cover and requested a copy of it from NetGalley based on the cover alone, before I even realized I was familiar with the author of the book.

The premise of this book was really funky, and I wasn't sure how it would work without being totally ridiculous when I read the blurb, but I was happily surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the story. As someone who wouldn't k

An emotion-filled story that will make you laugh and bring tears to your eyes. Harper Higgins is still trying to find her way in life, she loves art and painting, and wants to share that love. Unfortunately, her ex-boyfriend, also an art critic, gave her first show a less than stellar review, so now all her hopes are pinned on winning the full-time professorship at the college where she teaches part-time. She figures she has it won with the Art exhibit she curating until the "artist" is arrested ...more

The Art of Us was an introduction for me to Teri Wilson’s work. It started out as okay for me but by the end it began a delight. I think this is because I wasn’t taken with the female lead in the beginning of this book but agreed with Tom that Harper was snobby and pretentious. Like Tom’s opinion of her changed as the story progressed so did mine. Tom remained the one constant for me; a hero, healing in the only way he knew. That Harper could help him in the progress is probably the biggest surp ...more

A wonderful story! Harper and Tom literally bump into each other on the street. Well Harper's dog Vincent bumps into Tom and bowls him over.
The tempestuous relationship was so exciting to read and loads of fun. Tom really grated on Harper's or Doc's nerves. I thoroughly enjoyed the passion Harper and Tom had tucked away so deeply that they had forgotten how to enjoy life, until they found each other.
Great story line that had me hooked. Lars was an evil villain but luckily didn't do a

Harper is an art professor at the local college and she teaches paint and wine parties on the side. After having tried her hand at being an artist, she is now hoping to get the full time professor job that just opened up. Tom paints at night when he can't sleep. His memories from his time in the military keep him awake. Both of them are very guarded and non-trusting. They meet by accident and they instantly fight their mutual attraction. Eventually they discover what makes the other the way they ...more

A thoroughly enjoyable book. Harper Higgins is now a Art Historian working two jobs. She was an artist until she had bad reviews and then she quit. She accidentally meets Tom Stone an ex-soldier. When she sees his paintings she feels that she has been saved, as the artist she had lined up for the big art show ended up in jail. She pretends that he is a known artist, to justify her decision to showcase him for the art show, to her boss. There is passion and romance

A beautifully written, emotional story that will have you laughing one minute, sad another and happy the next. Harper has a goal of becoming a tenured assistant art professor. She just needs to make the upcoming exhibition happen with no glitches. Tom is taking one day at a time. His past has been painful but hopefully the little things he is doing will brighten his future.

This story was such a delight to read. I loved the art theme and it almost made me wish that I could paint or at least join an art class. It was very well written with believable characters and just such a lovely romance story. It was like reading a painting. A delight to look at from first to last pencil stroke.

I absolutely loved this story. Harper and Tom both have a load of baggage keeping the, from happiness. Tom struggles with life after the military. Harper believes she must get a promotion at work to be happy. They have a wonderful chemistry that keeps the reader turning the page.
This is my first book to read by Teri Wilson. I will definitely be reading more of her books.

I honestly cannot say enough about this story. I simply adored it because of the way thewords flowed so excellently that I really felt that the essence of the art flowed into the text. There was beauty in every line, paragraph and chapter.
This is a story that will go into my reread shelf to be taken out and enjoyed again.

LOVED this story! Very well written! This book has everything - humor, angst, romance, tastefully done sex scenes - not too explicit but not too "sweet" either. I will be looking for more of Teri Wilson's books!
