As is frequently the case, this anthology is spotty. There are a couple good stories, a lot of what would be filler in a magazine like Weird Tales, and a few pretty crappy ones. For a book called 'Strange Gods,' it really features almost exclusively a Christian take on religion. Unfortunately, several of the authors bring that condescending smugness you get in a lot of Christian themed movies ("God is Not Dead," for an example). Roger Elwood was an American science fiction writer and editor, perhaps best known for having edited a large number of anthologies and collections for a variety of publishers in the early 1970s. Elwood was also the founding editor of Laser Books and, in more recent years, worked in the evangelical Christian market.
