Ariana Blake has one chance to land her own show on the Home Project Network and nothing—not an uncooperative client, a job site without indoor plumbing, or a challenging videographer—is going to stand in her way. Elsie, at seventy-plus, is far from the ideal client, but she knows exactly what she wants her fieldstone house to look like, and no designer can tell her otherw ...more

Where to even start?

This is one of my favorite books ever! I loved everything about it: the characters, the setting, the story... I couldn't think of a better to get into the Christmas mood this year. So if you're looking for your first Christmas book of the year, look no further! You just found it! :)

Now with that being said, I need to review this book.
Let's be honest, at the beginning of the book I wanted to shake Alexis quite a few times. She was just so negative and gloomy and focused on he

I loved this Christmas tale! Alexis, a designer, has her plan: restore an aging widow’s home for a slot at a home-improvement reality show with a Christmas theme. When she arrives in tiny Algoma, things instantly begin to go wrong, starting with the videographer she was supposed to use.

There’s some romance in the book, but I felt it takes a second place to the heart-felt story of getting Elsie’s place restored and finding out how to pry open Elsie’s scarred heart, which is just the way I like i

A heartwarming tale set along the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan in the fall, a perfect place for a holiday story! My heart was definitely full and satisfied after reading this lovely novella.
Fans of home restoration shows will really enjoy this, as the main characters come together to complete a house project in time for a Christmas special, hoping to win a competition. The stakes are high, especially for Alexis, the designer who hopes to succeed and further her fledgling career. Nothing se

Before I gush about how much I love this latest book from Cynthia Ruchti (because I do and so I shall), I have to first mention GABE. Oh my heart. My book boyfriend collection has a new addition. Gabe Langley is sweet and hilarious and charming in that boyish sort of way but boy does some great wisdom come out when he decides to be serious. From their meet-cute to their daily interactions to the moment when romance becomes more than a possibility, Gabe and Alexis need each other (even when Alexi ...more

"Impossible. So that meant God had an idea when Alexis didn't."

When interior designer Alexis Blake won the opportunity to enter an eight week long "Restoring Christmas" home redesign contest, she was full of possibilities. . . . until, she met her stand-in videographer and the stubborn, prickly homeowner. Elsie wanted change without changing, and Gabe Langley's effervescent positivity was mildly annoying and surprisingly adorable.

After a series of unfortunate events, Gabe asks Alexis the millio

Restoring Christmas by Cynthia Ruchti is a beautiful contemporary Christian romance. Cynthia Ruchti writes the most delightful novels that draw me in from the very first page and keep me hooked to the end. Her novels are always honouring God and contain wonderful characters. Her words always warm my heart.
Restoring Christmas is about restoring the real meaning of Christmas. "Restoring what's been damaged - the human-God connection." It is about the gift of hope to a hurting world. "Hope isn't al

This is a delightful novella. Ruchti is a master story teller and she shines in this touching story.

Alexis is a home interior designer who has a chance to make it big – if she can land a spot on the Home Project Network Restoring Christmas special. But her aspirations hit a few roadblocks. The videographer she hired is down with back pain and Alexis has to settle for his son, Gabe. Then the woman for whom she is doing the remodel is an older woman hiding a world of hurt. Alexis finally has a shot at making her design company a working business. All she has to do is meet the videographer and set a time to go see the home belonging to a woman named Elsie. Once Alexis turns in the completed video with the finished home she has a chance to win a spot on a tv program and get her business name out to potential clients. But the day doesn't begin well when the videographer sends his son instead. And it certainly isn't a good thing that the homeowner was tricked into ha ...more

Restoring Christmas was an absolute delight of a read! A sweet love story that made me smile and chuckle out loud while tugging on my heart at the same time. I loved the sweet heart melting romance between two wonderful characters. I loved the contrast in personalities and how they meshed.

When I found out where Elsie disappears to for hours and days at a time it brought a tender tear to my eye. No plot spoilers here but I do have to wonder if the author will delve into another story based on wh

This is a Christmas/Holiday story that will stir your emotions in many ways. It is a story of forgiveness, faith, understanding, peace, love and or course restoration of the spirit all rolled into a story a bout a home renovation project.

The three main characters, Alexis, Gabe and Elsie, each had their own backstory, and a need for some personal restoration. Alexis is trying to win the coveted spot on a Christmas renovation television show to kick start her design business, Gabe is taking over

I love Christmas books, so this one was a must read and review for me when it came up as a review opportunity, and this one was worth reading.

There is a lot to like in this book: the characters, especially Gabe.....a really cool and different kind of guy for this type of book, the plot, the setting.....they all mesh to make a great story. I loved the idea of restoration in conjunction with Christmas, and the author did a great job of weaving that theme throughout the story and through the main

My first Christmas book of the season! Such a great story of restoring a home, but also restoring your soul. God can do amazing things in our life, can't He?! This is a story of two characters on very different paths in their life, but they end up intertwined in a way only God could create. I enjoyed this story so much and love that I kicked off my Christmas-reading season with a story of so much hope. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*

Perhaps we watch home improvement shows too much or maybe we like to read a story that stays real and ends well. Either way, Cynthia Ruchti has offered us both in Restoring Christmas. Interior designer Alexis Blake has a shot at fame and a career that rises above the ordinary if she can get a home remodeled in eight weeks working with an unknown videographer, the aging homeowner and overcoming her own fears.

Some Christmas books are excellent stories but I am never prompted to read them again. Some Christmas books are outstanding stories that I MUST read again and again. Restoring Christmas by Cynthia Ruchti is going to be one of the latter! I will read it again each Christmas season because it contains the truth of what Christmas should  be. Yes, it is fiction but the underlying theme relates the age-old story of God sending His Son to be our Savior; God sending His Son to restore our souls.

I was excited to read Restoring Christmas by Cynthia Ruchti, because I've heard so many good things about her books. I definitely was not disappointed. I loved the setting and the premise of the story. The main character, Alexis, was focused on advancing her career in restoring old houses during the first part of the story. I'm a sucker for a sweet, feel-good Christmas story. Cynthia Ruchti's Restoring Christmas is every bit of that . . . but so much more. In fact, it is one of the most touching stories I've read in a long time.

Cynthia has such a gentle way with words, and she definitely worked her magic in this one. Alexis, Gabe, and Elsie -- as well as the other characters who show up -- are all very intriguing, both as individuals and as the unexpected, mismatched company they become. Cynthia packs so much into

If you read no other book this Christmas season, make sure it is Restoring Christmas! I loved this book. The characters were wonderful and the underlying message was nothing short of beautiful.
