“You're brilliantly created and there's no one else like you!” is a message every parent will want to share with their child in this easy-to-understand board book.
With simple descriptions and rhyming text, Jill Roman Lord shares the message that God created each of us in just the right way in a manner that even the youngest child will understand. Bright and engaging illustrations from Amy Wummer pair perfectly with the text in this fun and meaningful read-aloud.
Empower children to embrace their individuality and recognize that they are beautifully created by God with a unique purpose. A perfect gift for baby showers, christenings, baptisms, birthdays, Easter, and Christmas.
If not for one important oversight, I would easily have given God Made You Just Right 5 stars. The rhyming text is rhythmic, lively, and uplifting, and the illustrations compliment that lively spirit quite well. Each scene is filled with activity and love. The characters reflect some diversity as well. However, I needed to see a special needs child being active and loved too. For me, it was a glaring, albeit unintentional, omission. When a book is entitled God Made You Just Right, it is vital that all children are represented. Otherwise, the between the lines message reads: God Made You Just Right unless you’re not like one of the children in this book. The text does address uniqueness, and the importance of being yourself, so I give it points for that. But just one depiction of a special needs child being active or lovingly interacting with his family as the other children do in God Made You Just Right would have made all the difference.

Hard to believe I'm starting my grandchildren's book collection already since I have passed along my children's books to both of my daughters while they were growing up to my niece and nephew and love when I get the opportunity to continue to review children's books like God Made You Just Right by Jill Roman Lord. This is a beautifully illustrated board book just perfect for first time readers that conveys the message of how important we are all created in God's eyes.
The book continues to self esteeming message of how God created us each to be perfectly and uniquely made just the way we are, and that there is no one else just like you! It goes on to self affirm things like our individual sizes, laughs, what makes us happy, our ticklish spots, our hair color and kind, how we can make special uses of our hands to make sand castles or cookies, to throw balls, hold cats or give hugs! How we use our legs to run and play and even how God has blessed us with the ability to make someone's day, through our gentle hearts, kind words, and our thoughts and dreams.
How God designed us each individually to fulfill the tasks He has in mind for all children that only they can fulfill, further helping to establish a sense of self worth no matter what we see on the outside, God knows that there is no one else who can do the job ob being you like you can! The book ends with a reminder scripture of Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." All of these pages are designed using simple, rhyming text and whimsical illustrations, that are welcome reminders for little ones that God created each of us in just the right way.
I received God Made You Just Right by Jill Roman Lord compliments of Worthy Kids, a division of Worthy Publishing for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased and fair review of this book. The best part of board books is their durability! You can wipe them clean and they stand up to the wear and tear of children who are just beginning their first books. I love the value that are placed on individuality of each child because we are all created to serve a purpose only God created us to fulfill and this encourages that in your child through this book. For this reason I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.
Very young children need books and those books should be sturdy and they should have a decidedly artistic appeal and valuable message or story. In Jill Roman Lord's charming rhyme extolling the message to the young boy or girl that there is a purpose in how God has designed them (or made them) and that the design is just right, the criteria for a child's book is met.
Sized just right for youngster's little hands and with enough pages to give more opportunity for enjoyment than some typical board books.
The sweet, colorful, and charmingly playful illustrations by Amy Wummer will engage the child and encourage repeated readings. Probably so many readings that the child will end up memorizing the poem. And at the end of the book......
a verse.....
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV In a nutshell, the book tells ....little ones that God created each of us in just the right way." A charming book that I recommend you acquire and place in the hands of some sweet young child.
I received a complimentary copy to facilitate this review. Opinions are my own. I was not compensated.
This book is just the right size for toddler’s hands and made of sturdy cardboard, no pages will get ripped while they carry it to you to snuggle and read for them. Love the bright colors, and all the boys and girls doing different activities that you and your little one can talk about! There is sweet rhyming text to keep their attention, with a great lesson that God made each of us the right way, he knew what he was doing. A great book for that little one in your life, you will not be disappointed.
I received this book through WorthyKids/Ideals and was not required to give a positive review
This book has the thicker cardboard pages (a "board book") so that it can be used by younger children without concern over any damage (I'm thinking teething babies here or toddlers that like to tear paper). The artwork is simple in a manner that fits the book well. Pencil drawings with what ppears to be brushstroke additions help create an atmosphere of lighthearted encouragement, which closely follows the theme of the book. The story goes through how G-d chose every part of the child's body and made them "just right," which encourages a healthy view of self and positive body image.
My wife read this book to our boys (at the time of this review, ages eight and five) and they both loved it, so I can easily see this book working well for ages three to ten (under three as a great "reading" story). It is short enough to be an easy bedtime story, and it's rhyming mechanisms help keep the attention of children. My wife loves the rhyming, art, and pictures. Her greatest concern is that while the book is diverse in its portrayal of different races, it altogether ignores the condition of the Fall - handicaps and illnesses.
Parents with children that have sickness or any handicaps (such as a wheelchair) may find their children more discouraged than encouraged by the book. This could be remedied by a simple illustration showing how someone in a wheelchair could sing or someone who is mute could play a game instead. Overall, though, I feel that such a pressure on the artist and writer is unnecessary if that is not their target audience. That said, the book could have a wider appeal if it were added.
It should be noted this book contains a clearly Christian message. It does quote Jewish literature, so if some minor alterations were made it could be applicable to a wider religious base as well. Otherwise, it is a great book but not the first pick off the shelf to take home...
Disclosure: I have received a reviewer copy and/or payment in exchange for an honest review of the product mentioned in this post.
I strongly believe a child is never too young to be introduced to reading and books. It will create a life time love of both and open the door to so many adventures and opportunities to learn. Not just any books are acceptable, but wholesome, quality ones. This book is perfect! It is a sturdy, washable board book that a little one can call their own and hold up to budding bookworms. Today even the youngest children are made to feel self-conscious about themselves and it only grows worse as they get older. Through media, friends, and even unintentional examples of parents and older siblings, they begin to struggle with self-acceptance. I very much liked how this book focuses on the fact that God is our basis of self-worth. As the title says, He made us “just right”. The sweet story covers all the bases; ability, size, physical features, aptitude, sense of humor, creativeness, and uniqueness in every area! Illustrations are excellent, depicting activities children participate in and enjoy. I love the way the author sums it all up with the most important point of all, “You may not be like other kids- that’s not your job at all.” An encouraging and uplifting book for little hearts! I received this book free from Worthy Publishing in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have stated are my own.
As a matter of fact, God DID make you just right! How fitting of a title to a board book full of rhymes and beautiful illustrations!
Each moment in the life of a toddler is significant and absolutely amazing. God Made You Just Right focuses on many of these activities that toddlers go through. The rhymes are super cute and flows so angelically from page to page, one idea to the next.
The images portrayed are also not short of spectacular! I love how the story shows these children of both genders and many ethnicities through activities both inside and outside. Most importantly, the focus of how something as simple as their fingers or toes is useful in its own special way!
It's lovely to see a children's book guiding toddlers to be themselves and not try to be like everyone else. God made each of us differently, but His creation is perfect so we are all perfect in His eyes. That's all that should really matter!
I would have loved reading this to my son when he was younger! Now he can read it to me! Even adults enjoy being read to!
God Made You Just Right by Jill Roman Lord and illustrated by Amy Wummer was provided complimentary for an honest review for Worthy Publishing.
A delightful board book with charming illustrations and rhyming, sing-song, verse, perfect to share with the child in your life.
Ms. Lord and Ms. Wummer have created a gem of a book, that tells of how each child is unique and made in God's image. A playful read that conveys the truth of God's love for us, and how he made us special and unique with a plan for each one of us.
Written in a flowing rhyme, this is a book that children will enjoy reading over and over again! Colorful illustrations go right along with the story, and make for a absolutely delightful read that you will want to share with the young ones in your life. Definitely recommend this fantastic little board book!

And I thought ... What a precious little book filled with God's plan and promises for each child. It's a small little toddlers board book. An excellent introduction to God's love and promises for the toddler.
Parents will love reading this little book to their children.
The illustrations by Amy Wummer are delightful depicting children baking cookies, building sandcastles, running and jumping and playing.
I love that the story is based on Jeremiah 29:11 and is printed on the last page. Giving parents an opportunity to share this verse with their toddler over and over every time they read the book. What a great verse to be the first verse a child learns!
I recommend this book for parents, grandparents and teachers. Its a great book for a church nursery or toddler classroom.
5 big 'ole stars are 'Just Right' for God Made You Just Right! You won't be disappointed.
A complimentary copy from Worthy Publishing was offered to me in exchange for my honest review.
This review will be posted at My Journey Back Good Reads.
God created each of us just right. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Using a verse from the Bible, the author and illustrator have taken a beautiful concept and brought it down to a child's understanding. As the child flips the pages the lyrical, rhyming words fit perfectly with the gorgeous illustrations and help to show the child all of the wonderful things about them that God has designed. The board book design makes this perfect for small children to hold and turn the pages.
Parents will love the inspirational message and the Bible verse. Children will love the whimsical artwork that includes animals, flowers, and small children. They will also appreciate the flow of words and larger print. I know that my children would have really enjoyed this book when they were toddlers. This book would make an excellent addition to any family library or church nursery.
I received this book free of charge from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for my honest review.
If you are looking for a cute little book that will capture your youngsters eye and provides the positive message that they are one of a kind this little book is perfect! I loved the delightful illustrations, and they are paired perfectly with the text of the story. I love that this book is a durable board book, with rounded corners for safety, and shiny, easy to turn pages that will withstand many, many readings! I think one of the best features of the book is that it ends with a scripture verse from the Bible. Overall this is a lovely little book that put a smile on my face, but more than that it held the attention of my neighbor as we read it together. I think it would make a wonderful gift for any occasion. I would consider it a self esteem building book that helps youngsters realize that they are indeed special and that God made them just right!
A complimentary copy of this book was provided for review.
We have two new babies in our family...twins! And, yes, the "bookie" that I am, I'm looking for bright colorful, fun filled books for these two cuties. So, I was excited to receive this wonderful book from Worthy Publishing, God Made You Just Right. The cover is so cute and colorful and this is how the whole book is illustrated. And the author wrote such a cute story about a child being just right because God made him/her. Stories that are sweet but increase a child's self image and faith are wonderful stories and that is why this is an excellent book for children! I know that the suggested age for this book is ages 2-5 but because it's so colorful I'm reading it to the twins and they love it! This book would make a great gift too!

I was given an advance copy of this book to read for which I am very thankful. It blessed some little ones ages 2 and 4 , yesterday. This book comes out August 9th. This is a board book well suited for little hands. They will love the picture and the rhyming message. A very bright book full of colorful pictures to keep your little one preoccupied for hours! This book has a great message that we are all made in the image of God. The author could have done better by putting in some handy caped children. Jill has done a wonderful job writing this kids book but Amy has captured the child's attention even more. This is a book both parents and children will applicate.
This is a really cute book geared for younger children to help them see how special they are and what a good job did on making them. It is a board book 22 pages in length. The author goes over different part of the body and how God made them so they could be used for things like throwing the ball, making cookies, etc. Each page has great pictures done by illustrator Amy Wummer showing small kids doing the described activities.
A lot of rhyme is used in the book to make it easier for kids to understand and read, and consists of short enough sentences to keep their attention. I think it is a great book to help with self esteem at a young age.
This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.
The book is a hardcover board book which is easy to hold for little hands and be read again and again. I can see kids snuggled into adult laps being read this book and feeling loved and special for just being them. This is an important message that kids need to hear over and over. They are perfect as God created them and have a reason for being just the way they are. This book isn't overly preachy and I like the Bible verse that was at the end of the book. I hope it will give many children a hunger to learn more about the God who created the universe and them too.
Cute book with a good message.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher, for my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
I love the artwork, it is colorful and engaging, which should catch the attention of small children, but still nice to look at for adults.
The text is encouraging and has a good rhyme pattern, which I always appreciate in books for small children. It isn't a story, but poetry telling children that God knew exactly what He was doing when He created each part of each person. I love that it talks about the things you uniquely need to be able to fulfill God's plan for you.
At the end of the book is Jeremiah 29:11, which gives scriptural support to the rest of the book. My only (minor) complaint is that the verse is in NIV, but then, I think most children's books quote from that translation.
I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
"God made you just right" is the perfect picture book for toddlers thru elementary school age. My 6 year old enjoyed reading this book with me. It has simple, rhyming sentences making the book easy to understand and fun to read.
The pictures are also fun to look at it and are soft pastel colors making this a great calming book before bed.
This is a wonderful book to read out loud to children to help them understand that we are all God's creation and have our own individual gifts and talents to bless others.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review on my blog and social media-all opinions are my own.
What a sweet story about how God created each of us uniquely—and just right for whatever we're supposed to do! I do wish that the focus had been more on character and less on physical traits (arms, legs, etc.), but it's still a great message. And very poetic. The illustrations are beautiful as well, lovely watercolors! If you're looking for a book that teaches children about how God made them, check this one out! [4 stars]
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my fair and honest review.
What a cute little board book this is! I like the rhyming text and how both physical attributes and personality traits are mentioned. I thought the illustrations were great as well. There is a boy on the front but in the book the pages alternate between both boys and girls so it is appropriate for either. We are all uniquely created by God! This would make a nice gift for a baby shower or for a special child in your life.
I was provided with a copy of this book as part of the First Look blog tour. Thank you.
God Made You Just Right, is a perfect book to show a child just how special they are and that God made them just the way they are. It's a board book, easy for little hands, and perfect for bedtime reading. Jeremiah 29:11 is inserted as the Bible verse, For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
This is a wonderful children's board book. It has a great message and fantastic illustrations. I believe that young children will love this book and want it read over and over. I received this book fromFirstLook for a fair and honest opinion.
