About the author

Michael Mallory is an internationally-recognized authority on the subjects of film, animation and 20th century pop-culture, and the author of sixteen nonfiction books, which include The Art of Krampus, Essential Horror Movies, and Marvel: The Characters and their Universe. With the legendary American animation artist Iwao Takamoto he co-authored the memoirs Iwao Takamoto: My Life With a Thousand Characters, and has written more than 600 magazine and newspaper articles that have been published worldwide. A former newscaster, occasional actor, and frequent public speaker, Mike lives and works in the greater Los Angeles area.

I fell in love the moment I saw the first episode on TV.
That was back in 2010!

And since then I became such a big fan.
I watched each and every episode at least twice. It was the moment vampires became super popular. And in my heart, I will always be a fan of those moment when Elena chose the forbidden path.

This book is made in such a beautiful and creative style. I love the few papers of Bonnies Grimoire and the drawings of humans changing into werewolves.
This is truly an eye catcher.

I loved it!! I am a massive fan of the series and so I thought i would get this book!! It gives an insight to all the behind the scenes stuff as well as everything else you could ever want to now!! A must read for all fans!!

I loved the behind the scenes look at a fictional world I love - timelines, character profiles, key moments, etc. I would have liked a deeper exploration of the relationships between the characters since that was such an important part of this series, but this was still worth reading.

It’s still so sad that there are no more stories coming out of Mystic Falls, now that The Vampire Diaries has ended, and this book made me feel like I was getting one more little piece of it. More importantly, a piece that I could take home and look through whenever I miss my favorite vampires, doppelgangers, werewolves, hybrids, witches, etc.

I had so much fun flipping through the pages of The Vampire Diaries: Unlocking the Secrets of Mystic Falls. One of the highlights was the pure nostalgia factor. There’s just something about seeing those pictures from the early seasons, set so beautifully on every page.

After the introduction, the book began by going through the casting process for all the main characters. Not only did this offer an extra chance to appreciate the people who brought our favorite characters to life, but it also gave some insight into the characters themselves, how they developed, and how they changed from their novel counterparts.

As a DIE HARD fan of this television series, (I’m STILL sad that it’s over) I found this compendium to be a sweet ode to us fans. It was great being able to relive certain moments that happened throughout the seasons, along with new information that I didn’t know about before. It was COMPLETELY nostalgic, and I thank Michael Mallory and Andrea Robinson... Along with Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson for coming up with and creating this book. The Vampire Diaries will stay with me for the rest of my life. It was a special time, and anyone who was along for that ride can truly say the same. #TVDFOREVER

It's amazing if your a big fan like me it tells you all about behind the scenes of how they planned each actor and episode the pictures are amazing! The detail of all the make up and stunts are incredible. I would read again
