The first Doctor Who book I actually enjoyed TBH. Maybe because it was a lot of dialogues and less writing. The writing in DW books always takes away the magic.
Also, having to constantly jump from page to page gave me a genuine feeling of running?? but that's probably cause I never run anymore :P

I don't think I've read it in full but I have no patience left to leaf through it for the nth time looking for a divergence that may lead to a new storyline

That was an excellent, fast paced read from the start to the finish. It was canon to 12's character and I felt like I was there right along with The Doctor!

I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books as a kid so this was a quick fun little journey. I did it twice and got two totally different stories.

This was really fun. Usually, choose-your-own-adventure books have only one or two main plotlines with different ending and choices but in this book, your plot changes along with your choice. That sounds like it should be obvious but it really is not. Give this book a try if you can.

I bet most of us have owned a “choose your own future” book when we were children. As an aspiring writer I LOVED this books and begged my parents to buy me each and everyone they could find.
So imagine my delight when I walked into the basement at Forbidden Planet in London and found a couple of “Doctor Who: Choose your own future” books. I browsed through and chose one to take home with me.
I have read and mixed the stories in this book until I ran out of choices and I wasn’t at all disappointed. It doesn’t matter what turn you take the story becomes more and more interesting and the fact that you can determine what happens provides an extra to the reading experience.
I can’t review the story/stories without actually spoiling the book but I can sat that if you are a fellow Doctor Who lover, if you love “choose your own future” books or if you are seeking something different from the traditional reader experience, you should but one of these. You’ll have a great time thumbing through the pages helping the doctor and his companions and enjoying the greatest adventure of your life. Allons-y!

A somewhat more diffuse book, with lots of different and quite independent timelines for adventures of the Twelfth Doctor on an unnamed moon. (Though in one variant he goes back to contemporary earth for an adventure with Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.) This also has the feature I noted from some of the Decide Your Destiny books, where the player makes choices that I would have expected to be made by the writer, eg Chapter 78:
- If you think the sonic will open the airlock, tap here to go to Entry 118.
- If you think the airlock will stay shut, tap here to go to Entry 83.
Some rather good lines, but I prefer when the multiple storylines in these books are all set in more or less the same universe as each other. Baxendale also wrote three of the Decide Your Destiny books, which I likewise found average rather than compelling.

“Doctor Who: Choose the Future: Terror Moon” by Trevor Baxendale
DOCTOR WHO: TERROR MOON
Entry 4 – The Doctor glances quickly around the console room. His eyes narrow. His brows bristle. He can't shake the feeling that there is something in here with him. Something alien.
But then, he is an alien too. Everyone is. It's all a matter of perspective.
Entry 36 - “I'm thin. Very thin. I have seldom been thinner. Perhaps during my tenth incarnation, but its touch-and-go.”
Entry 79 - “Well, erm, Doctor .. I was part of a scientific elite..”
The Doctor's eyes narrow. He doesn't like elites.
Entry 89 – 'Whoever it is has a gun, and guns seldom mean anything good.'
The Doctor tries to shrink back among the brooms and mops. He's thin, but he doubts even he can be mistaken for a broom handle.

Ok. This was an interesting read. It felt like going down several different timelines, seeing all the different outcomes. I don’t often read choose-your-own-adventure books, so I don’t have much to go on. But, this did seem like a good one. And it made me want to read more.
I have to admit, though, I didn’t read every possible storyline. I got tired of certain ones that were similar to each other. But other than that, it was enjoyable. Maybe I’ll pick it up again before I return it to the library. We’ll see.

Not the greatest Doctor Who story ever told, but I love that it’s Choose Your Own Adventure and my favourite Time Lord.
The first time I read through I got to an ending that didn’t match what was happening in the story, but the second time it worked out alright.

I didn't realize when I picked this up that "Choose the Future" meant this was a choose your own adventure style book. But it was fun to read that way. And this is a pretty good adventure, with a bit of tension, a bit of sarcasm and decent action.

What is better than joining the doctor on a journey and accidently causing his death? Exactly, there is nothing better!

Fun little book - haven’t done a choose your own adventure since I was a kid and this was so fun getting to make decisions like The Doctor! 3⭐️

Fun concept. Choose your own story line. Choose the way you want the story to go, and have many versions and endings of the same story. Loved it!

Seeing that this was written by Trevor Baxendale, who wrote the magnificently fun Deep Time Doctor Who tie-in a while back, I figured I'd pick this up.
Perhaps Deep Time set the expectations too high, because I ended up mostly disappointed. It's mainly aimed at younger kids. I went through most of the adventures; all of them got little more than a shrug from me. Cute, but nothing to write home about.

May 20, 2017Quick and fun palate cleanser. I haven't read a choose your own adventure in a while, and I happened to have bought this months ago because it seemed like a perfect concept for Doctor Who. Very fun and good writing for the Doctor.
