(Not So) Good in a Room is the first book I've read from new to me author Dakota Madison. It won't be the last.

It has lovable, relate-able characters, and the story pulled me right in. I literally read it in 1 sitting.

There is comedy, and romance, and a perfectly imperfect heroine that everyone will love. Pre-Order this book now!

This is absolutely worthy of all 5 stars I've given it!

Well the main character, Nellie, is just awkward, & I felt the whole book was awkward. These characters are just totally bizarre & don't inspire a reader to care about them. I felt like I was reading a book a teenager wrote. I just couldn't like any of the characters. The flow was erratic & the plot itself was weak & not developed. The story line itself had potential, but did not deliver in the plot. The humor was the only thing that kept me reading, the reason for 2 stars.

One of my all-time favourite authors is the author whose one of her pen names is Dakota Madison. I love her writing and her characters are so easy to fall in love with. I especially loved the characters in her latest release (Not So) Good in a Room. In this book which is a variant rendition of the classic Cyrano De Bergerac , we meet Nellie Berg who in herself is an oddity but an amazingly awesome scriptwriter. She has written over thirty action type scripts which each story is great , she defi ...more

This was a fun, short, amusing read that really made a lot of innuendo references concerning sports. The story focuses on Nellie, an aspiring screenwriter who is trying to pitch her script to a producer. That is, if she could ever overcome her fear of talking to a stranger. Her screen writes are perfect, and could be the best to ever grace the Hollywood screens if only she could pitch the damn things! Upon bumping into a tall, dark, and charming stranger at Pitchapalooza, she makes the best on ...more

This book in one word? CUTE!

Just simply cute and adorable and sweet and funny and a brilliant way to spend an hour or two.

Roscoe and Nellie had a bit of a rough start to their friendship but Roscoe was completely charmed by Nellie’s weirdness. Nellie in turn has spent most of her life behind the screen of her computer and she wouldn’t know if a man was hitting on her if he was using a club. So now that she has two men showing interest, life is about to get much more interesting.

Nellie is an aspiring script writer looking to get her scrips opted. The problem is, she suffers social anxiety and is unable to find the courage to pitch her scripts. At an event, she meets a guy who proposes a perfect idea to help her with her problem. Can this be the golden idea she needs or will it backfire?

I want to start off by saying that I totally adored this story idea. It was amazing and cute and I could of just read it forever. However, I did have a few problems with it. I feel like t

This was my first time reading anything by Dakota Madison and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet ,fun story. Ms Madison has given us a short ,fun amusing story that will suck us in and keep us there from start to finish ,and will leave us wanting more from this author. The characters are amazing and so easy to fall for and each has their only charm. The story centers around poor Nellie who really wants to be screenwriter ,but it seems every time she tries to pitch one of her stories ...more

What is pitchfestapalooza you ask? Well, you're going to have to read this book to find out in the very first chapter what it means and what it is. Imagine being there, and then suddenly having no control of your body, including your voice. What would you do? I will say this, the title of the book has a whole lot to do with pitchfestapalooza. Who is this Roscoe guy and why is Nellie suddenly nicknamed Munch? What does Roscoe invite Nellie to and why does she refuse to go? What does Roscoe assume ...more

Lead character Nellie is a scriptwriter in LA, she's really good apparently but she's awful in a room and can't pitch a story to anyone. Along comes Roscoe, another screenwriter and his gorgeous but very dumb cousin Chris, a wannabe actor. Roscoe comes up with the amazing idea for Chris to pretend to be the screenwriter and pitch while Nellie continues to write. Things are going well until Nellie has second thoughts and wants to pull out.

So, not so good in a room? Hmm, not so good a book either

Nellie Berg wants to be a screenwriter but every time she goes to pitch her stories she freezes and can't get her words out. After her latest disaster she meets Roscoe Rhodes who is great at pitching ideas but he hasn't written anything.

Roscoe suggests that she has someone else pitch her ideas for her and suggests his cousin, actor Chris Rhodes to help her out. When it is clear that Nellie has talent will she let Chris take all the credit? But maybe Nellie will let Chris take even more than that

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Nellie is an aspiring screenwriter from Kansas, and she has a big problem: when faced with producer, she can't seem to get the words out of her mouth to make her pitch. She runs into Roscoe while pitching her screenplay, and is convinced to attend his group for aspiring action screen-writers. Together they come up with the idea of getting Roscoe's cousin to pitch the movie, which is a great idea...until it isn't.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Truthfully, I had a hard time getting into this book. I found the characters rather shallow and self-interested. The main character was a misfit that made the book read like a teen/young adult coming-of-age story. The plot was adequate but not realistic in that the actions taken by the characters weren't considered in their entirety, similar to poor choices often made when one is young. I felt that the sex was thrown in to try to enhance a w ...more

I received a copy of this book for honest review.

I'd feel very comfortable giving it a 4/5 stars.
If you like vanilla romance, you would certainly enjoy this little number. The copy I received was without a cover, but u see here it certainly suits it. This novella left me wanting to read the full books for sure. I'm horrible at small reviews, so to see my whole review visit here:

I was looking forward to a cute, fun read. The story line was pretty predictable, but I was okay with that and Dakota Madison had some quirky characters. it should have been a cute, fun read. Such great potential. But the plot was rushed; the story and characters could have been more developed. It felt like a highlights reel. Read my full review at Girl Who Reads.

Cyrano de Bergerac meets the casting couch in this light romance. Nellie is a screenwriter who can script a terrific action movie but freezes up when it's time to pitch. An unmotivated screenwriter offers the services of his actor to help sell Nellie's scripts--but then the work won't be known as hers, and crushes complicate matters.

I felt rushed reading this novella.

Nellie is an up and coming screenwriter, only she can't perform. At a pitch fest, she meets Roscoe Rhodes, who can perform fabulously, but sucks at writing. He helps Nellie by introducing him to Chris, his cousin. But Nellie falls for Chris, only to have Roscoe find out he likes her too.

There it is in a nutshell.
