I vacillated with the rating for this one for a bit before deciding what I consider a generous three for me. Let it be known up front that this is my opinion and that plenty of my friends quite enjoyed it. I listened to this in audiobook. Not sure if it matters, but the narrators were pretty good, yet that didn't save the dialogue from killing the story for me. I've finally found the perfect man.

Firstly I have to say I'm in love, I think Michael is just about perfect.
This was a book of surprises for me.
Firstly I was surprised to discover this is the first book I've read by this author and with the amount of books I read I'm wondering why.
Secondly I was surprised by Michael but more on that later.
Then I was totally surprised by this book it wasn't at all what I expected, I thought it would be dark and gritty with the requisite hot alpha male who goes th I've finally found the perfect man.

Secondly I was surprised by Michael but more on that later.
Then I was totally surprised by this book it wasn't at all what I expected, I thought it would be dark and gritty with the requisite hot alpha male who goes through women like they're disposable, until he finds 'the one' well that's what I expected what I got was a sweet beautiful romance with the man of my dreams.
Michael was made an orphan at six years old, after foster care he joins the marines where he spends ten years serving his country now he's in business, the business of selling guns.
Michael is hot, fit, intelligent, trustworthy, loyal, he has a thirty day rule regarding sex so he doesn't become a man whore (seriously, where's this man been all my life) I could go on but I'll just say he ticks every box and he wants and deserves to be loved.
Terra is a Mafia princess, she has a trust fund and apart from the fact she's expected to marry an Italian man she has no pressure on her.
When these two first meet he obviously doesn't tell her what he does and she doesn't tell him who she is, and that's ok at first but what happens when the relationship grows and the lies are getting deeper.
Michael's best friend and colleague Cap is funny, he's obsessed with Netflix and can happily give romantic advice due to all the rom coms he's watches, he's six foot three of solid muscle and served in the Marines with Michael.
Michelle is Terra's best friend and she's hilarious.
While this book wasn't anything like I expected I really enjoyed it and apart from a couple of little things my only problem came with Terra.
It's a cliffhanger which I knew before starting so I can't complain about that now I'm just left waiting for the next book.

When I saw this one was up for graps on NetGalley I was super excited by the blurb and was really looking forward to reading this book. In the end I guess I can also blame my high expectations for the story, since I was really happy to be reading this book. But oh well, it's still a three star read, since not all was that bad.

I liked Cap and Michelle, they were my favourite characters. Yes, I know I'm horrible for not liking the main characters more but what can I say. I loved how Cap has this no bullshit personality and how Michelle just knows what she want and is one super cool chick that doesn't easily freak out. If there is going to be a book about those two, I'm definitely reading it!

Now Terra and Michael were a mess but a beautiful one. Their relationship is now a 'normal' one, since their past and true identity still remains a lie, at least on Terra's side and one that all comes to light, there is going to be a big bum! But for the most part, I find their journey to finding each other real sweet. There are ups and downs but in the end they manage to overcome that and also the epilogue and their new pet, just soooo cute. That added to their story for sure.

All in all, I would say that I liked this story but it could also be better, specially the writing style (question and all that). Also I'm not sure I'm going to be reaging the sequel but who knows, maybe I will, maybe won't. So, if you feel like you like the blurb, then go for it. Read the story and who knows, it might just as well pleasantly surprise you. :)

Great book until the end. I mean I shook my Kindle trying to get a few more pages, but nothing.

There's lots of hot sex, secrets on both sides, and little bit of angst with when to say L word. It was great and I was loving every minute of it until the last pages. The Gun Runner is my first introduction to a Mafia book and I can honestly say that I am hooked. From page one, I was riveted to where the story was going to go, and who these characters where….
Let’s start with Michael Tripp….

*Sigh* – Yes, that is the reaction I attach to Tripp. He is a deep, thought provoking, raw character that I am positive you will want to learn more and more about as you read. The personality of Michael was an intriguing discovery and one I am pretty sure has only just begun. The way that this character chose to walk through his life was something I admired greatly.

“…we are who we are, and changing isn’t always an option. Acceptance was the key, and for me to attempt to be someone or something I wasn’t would be to truly tell a lie.” – Michael.

Another strong reason I LOVED this character was because of his love for the woman who captured his heart, there is nothing sexier than unconditional love, enters Terra. The below quote, stopped this reader cold…. I LOVED this scene!! Can you say *chill bumps*!!!

Terra Wilson was someone who I wanted to choke. I will not tell you why, because I HATE spoilers. I will state that she was the type of character that I LOVE to read about and she is the reason that I have always enjoyed Mr. Hildreth’s writing. Terra was REAL!!! She is the type of character that adds that level of emotion to a story, that makes you want to turn the pages faster and faster. She is the type of character that has you yelling at the author because he is not doing what you want. So even though I want to choke Terra, I LOVED her, she was a huge part of the roller coaster ride that this reader went on while reading, even if she, herself never did get to ride one. *wink*.

As always the secondary characters in this Hildreth novel are TOP NOTCH. I loved Cap and Michelle. He was not only intriguingly sexy, she was honestly snarky, and both were hilarious. The scenes that included Michael Tripp’s team were in a word CAPTIVATING. There was one scene in particular that had me ACTUALLY sweating bullets, yes like need a shower after reading. At the same time I was beyond curious to learn about the Agrioli Family. Yes the characters that were introduced from the crime family have this reader anxious for more.

Overall the NOVEL was OUTSTANDING. LOL-- if all my shouty CAPS, did not help convey my excitement, then a great book discussion will, WHO IS READY TO TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK????
I can not wait to read this novel again, yes, The Gun Runner will be the book I am reading the week before The Game Changer is released.
WELL DONE, Mr. Hildreth, I am very, very, very, excited for more!!! That is it, that is all I got…. ...more

Terra is upsetting me. I mean we all know how it's going to go down but the longer she holds on to her secret the worse it's gonna be!! Ahhhhhhh! Between me and you (for those who have read this) do you not think there is a possibility Tripp had some Italian in him?!?! There were so many scenes that I just loved. I laughed so much. Ehhh this didn't do it for me. The dialogue was stilted. Some of the things they said sounded more like something a teenager would say. All of the drama was a result of a lack of communication. Both of them weren't being upfront about things in their life. Terra found out what Michael hadn't told her. She flipped out and got overly dramatic. Now, if you know me, then you know that I don’t read a ton of books by male authors. That being said, Scott Hildreth is an author that has a ton of buzz surrounding him. When I heard about The Gun Runner, I just knew I had to read it. The synopsis sounded right up my alley, so I gave it a try. And let me tell you, I am so glad that I did.

Told from dual points of view, The Gun Runner is fast paced, sexy, exciting and filled with danger. This story pulls you in from the very first page and captivates you the entire time. This is a book that you can easily devour in one sitting. It will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see how things will play out.

I loved Michael and Terra from the moment I met them. Michael was tough and didn’t take crap from anyone. I loved the way that he was with Terra and appreciated how he wanted to make sure what they had was worth investing time in before he just jumped into bed with her. Terra was just plain awesome. She was badass and wasn’t afraid of anything. She is the type of woman that will go after what she wants. Put her together with Michael and those two are an explosive combination. One, that I could not get enough of.

The Gun Runner was an exciting and entertaining read. It’s well written and filled with action, suspense, secrets, lies and lots of sexy good times. This book doesn’t really end with a cliffy, but it definitely ends in a way that will leave you begging for more and dying to know what will happen next. This is my first book by this author and I for one can not wait to see what he’s got up his sleeve next for Michael and Terra.

Scott Hildreth dove head first into the Mafia world and nailed it! Michael Tripp is a trip I’d love to take over and over again. The Gun Runner tells the story of two star-crossed lovers who don't know shit about each other.

I really loved the hero, though. I liked that he is not a manwhore and takes relationships (and sex) seriously. He actually has a 30-day rule about waiting to have sex with a woman he's interested in. Refreshing!

But it wasn't just those ingredients that made it so good for me, it was the way Scott Hildreth combined them with words and delivered it. He pulled me in from page 1 and without even realizing it I found Michael Tripp made my heart race, my cheeks feel warm, and my inner romantic squeal with delight. I'm telling you - I devoured this - from the first scene to the last scene I wanted more and could not get it out of my head.

The writing, oh, it was good and sneaky. I would be so involved in a good part in Terra's POV, but then it would switch to Michael's and I felt teased in the most delicious way. I needed more. ~~Like, how did the rest of the date and night go? Did they kiss? Did she give him a BJ?~~ Instead of giving me all the answers I was kept hanging, yet totally sucked in as the scene would switch to Michael in his office. I had to keep reading to find out what happened. I got answers, but let me tell you...I love all the gory details and maybe there are some deleted scenes out there waiting to be released? I would savor every word, Mr. Hildreth.

But it wasn't just the romance that kept me hanging, there were other dangerous elements that made this book stressfully good. The whole mafia/gun running business was no joke and I love the suspense feel to it all.

The sex, omfg. The. Sex. It's outstanding. Filthy and I love it. Dirty talk at its best. Jesus, Michael Tripp's naughty mouth is something else. My god, read the story just for that and it would still be 5 stars. Trust me.

Cap and Michelle, who were Michael and Terra's best friends, were a great support cast. I felt like I got to know Cap better than Michelle, but I still liked her just as much. I am praying they get their own book.

The ending, not quite a cliffhanger, but good in the way that it wrapped things up for the moment. I was expecting something else and...well...I guess I just have to wait because I know it will happen in book 2. And gah, I just really really need the next book.

Rec this? YES YES YES! *fist pump* Scott Hildreth is a new author to me and I am so glad I found him and that he's written lots of books already so I can dig in to more of his words before I have to wait for book 2.

The Gun Runner is the first Scott Hildreth book I have read. I was drawn to this book because of the Blurb and was looking for a new author to read. I am glad I took a chance on this one. I found this book really enjoyable.

The Gun Runner is the first book is Scott’s newest Mafia Made series. I can’t really classify this as a standalone, because Michael and Terra’s story will continue into the next book, but it doesn’t have a cliffhanger ending either. This is a To Be Continued Ending. Michael and Terra are in a great place in the end of the book, but this book brought up a lot of questions that weren’t answered by the end. And there is still a HUGE secret to be revealed. I am interested to see where the author takes this couple in the next book.

This book is filled with lies, deceit, romance, a little humor and a lot of sex!! The storyline was an interesting one and it will keep your attention all the way through. I found the characters relatable and easy to connect with. There were only a couple things that I found not to my liking. One was that it seemed like time jumped between chapters, almost like the author left some things out. That might just be his writing style, but I thought it could’ve flowed a little better. The other thing was the amount of sex in this story. I know I am crazy for thinking that, but sometimes when there is too much sex in the story it can take away from the real storyline. I thought it could’ve been dialed down just a little bit and maybe focused on some other aspects of the plot. Now with saying that, I did still really like this book!! I will warn readers though….this book is of the insta-love variety….Michael and Terra’s relationship moves at quite a quick pace. So if you aren’t a fan of that, then this might be a book to pass on.

In this book we meet Michael and Terra. Terra is the daughter to the Italian Mob Boss. She is a trust fund girl, who doesn’t have a job, but also isn’t a fan of what her family is known for. Michael is an ex marine, who is also a gun runner. When these two meet it is under a scary situation. Terra is being dragged out of a coffee shop by an ex-boyfriend. Michael sees this and steps in. After that both characters realize they can’t stop thinking about each other and decide to see where things go. But both Micbael and Terra are keep secrets from each other. What will happen when everything comes out? Will their love be able to survive the deception? Find out the answers to those questions and more by reading this book.

So if you are looking for a story that has suspense, drama, and romance, then you should give The Gun Runner a chance. I know I am glad I did and I look forward to the rest of the books in this series and other books by this author.
