Hunt Family #1

Meet Me in Myrtle Beach

Rate this book
Paige Spears was on her way to a job interview when she first met Diane Hunt. The two of them made friendly conversation while waiting for their breakfast, and Diane ended up asking Paige to come work for her for the summer. Paige was reluctant about beginning her cooperate career anyway, so she jumped at Diane's offer.

As luck would have it, her first assignment was to spend a week in Myrtle Beach with Diane and her family. Paige quickly found herself in a car with a woman she'd just met, headed to a place she'd never been, and about to be on a vacation with people she didn't know.

She thought she'd make the best of it and enjoy one last summer adventure before joining the real world. She had no idea this trip would change her life forever.

Meet Me in Myrtle Beach is the introduction to The Hunt Family series. It is a sweet natured, contemporary romantic drama, centered on the Hunt family.

A chance meeting at a restaurant changes the life of Paige Spears forever. Stepping out in faith, she accepts a job from Mrs. Diane Hunt, the Hunt family patriarch, that she had just met, blowing off the job interview she had been reluctant to go anyway, even though it required the skills she had earned in college. This fast-paced book details the events Paige experiences after she opts for one last adventure before she buckles down into adulthood in a job she is less than thrilled about doing.

The first thing the woman asked was for Paige to do was to join her and her family in Myrtle Beach for a week. Paige experiences many firsts there, including riding a horse, seeing the ocean and feeling the sand between her toes. She still had no idea what duties her new job entailed. But who cares when you are spending the week in a gorgeous house, on the beach, with a fun loving family?

In a week's time, this young girl experienced heart fluttering, joy, heartache, and indescribable elation. Here is your new life Paige Spears! Who would have ever thunk one week could change a life so drastically?

Although this is a series, it is able to stand alone. If you plan to read the series, I would recommend that you start at the beginning to ensure you are exposed to as many details as possible about this huge family. There are a minimal number of spelling/grammar errors, but nothing that distracts from the captivating, clean, and wholesome read. Thankfully, it did conclude with a H.E.A.

I should have listened to Amazon sooner! I kept having books by Brooke St. James on my recommendations page, but I hadn't heard of her yet, and had other things in my mental to-read pile. Now, I can finally say that I gave her a chance and love her books (or at least the Hunt family series that I have read so far).

These books have sweet romances, a great tight-knit family, and light Christian elements (without being preachy). In the first three books of the series the romances develop quickly (1 or 2 weeks), but it works. It is also more on the instant love, than instant lust side of things.

If you are looking for good Christian fiction or clean romance with strong family bonds, give Brooke St. James a try.

So thank you, Amazon! You got this recommendation spot on!

What a cute and fun listen!
Paige takes a leap of faith with a woman who offers her a fun-filled week at the beach. I loved how she trusted that this woman was going to do her right. Paiges’ own family had a hard time believing it but she is an adult and makes her own choices.

The family vibe this book gives reminded me of one of my favorite series Virgin River. I didn’t want to put the book down but of course, I had to sleep, but this morning I jumped right back in and le sigh it was great. I can’t wait to jump into book 2.

The narration is phenomenal I love Kate Rudd and her voice, the way she tells a story it just sucks me in.

Twice in several weeks I've read this book on ebook and listened to it on audiobook. I have read and love the whole series. I love her books I started reading your books several weeks ago and I've already read the Hunt Family Series and the All in Good Time Series and just started the Martin Family Series. I would recommend any of her books.

I can't put her books down I just keep reading one after the other. I think she is a great author. I hope she keeps writing books. I have read all her books on Kindle Unlimited. So thanks for putting them on there.

I won the audible audiobook from the author.

This premise was incredibly unrealistic. So much so that I had to completely disregard all logical thinking to get through this book. It was also really cheesy which I wouldn’t have minded had the plot been more realistic & less ridiculous. Cody & Paige were cute initially but when there was a conflict Cody acted like a complete jerk and Paige behaved like an immature child. The ending was also rushed and illogical. Such a disappointing read.

Very short! I thought the book suffered from it.
Also, you tell a guy you love him after you have known him for A WEEK?
And then you marry him that same summer?!
I know readers demand a happily ever after, but come on, this is not a historical or a fantasy.
But I guess if you get picked up at a diner by a rich grandma to go on vacation at her beach house with all her eligible grandsons AND all the further rich eligible men further down the beach with accents… you are probably in a fantasy.

A bit on the glurge-y side but still liked it

Ok, so accept that the plot is improbable and the story is like a contemporary fairy tale (as are the characters). It's also strictly a relationship development romance with no added plot twists or tropes. If you're fine with all that, then you will enjoy this book.

Good sweet story

Just a sweet "love at first sight" type book. With a little southern charm, rich family with maybe one movie star relative thrown in for flavor. I enjoyed this sweet book!

Diane Hunt meets Paige Spears in a coffee shop. After sitting and talking for a while Diane convinces Paige she must work for her over the summer and that it needs to start on her family vacation to Myrtle Beach.

When they get there Paige meets Diane’s grandson and feelings spring up and snowballs out of control for both of them.

I usually don’t love stories about a single parent, but this one was really good.

I loved the Christian aspect. It was present but it wasn’t pushed.

I loved how real the people felt. Especially Ryan, the 3 year old. Some authors really nail it when writing kids and some are far fetched and too contrived, too babyish or too mature. But this was spot on. She said stuff just like a 3 year old might say it.

This was a quick paced relationship, that definitely could be considered insta-love, but for some reason it didn’t feel that way. Their relationship seemed natural to me. Maybe because they had really good chemistry. I loved it.

Meet Me in Myrtle Beach is my first book by Brooke St. James. I decided to read it because I have had it forever on my Kindle and because the setting is South Carolina, so I could use it for two reading challenges 😀

I have to say that this starts off a bit unrealistic. Paige meets Mrs. Hunt, they chat over breakfast, Mrs. Hunt offers Paige a job and she accepts without having a clue what she will be doing or how much money she will be making. Two days later they head off to Myrtle Beach, with Paige still not knowing her job. When they are almost there Mrs. Hunt tells Paige she needs to relax and look at this week as a vacation. Hello? Seriously? Mrs. Hunt can give me a job and immediately take me on vacation.

This story is insta-love, a bit cheesy, but a quick, easy read. There are a lot of characters as it is setting up a series, but they are introduced slowly and easy to keep straight. I thought it was overall a cute read with some really cute and lovable characters.

If you can remember that the book is a work of fiction you can get past the unrealistic aspects and enjoy a sweet, clean romance.

Paige Spears stops at a coffee shop for breakfast before a job interview, where she meets Diane Hunt by accident. They hit off right from the start and Diane convinces Paige to work for her over the summer, starting with a family trip to Myrtle Beach. Little does Paige know that Diane hopes she and her grandson Evan will meet and fall in love, but Paige falls in love with another grandson, Cody who has an adorable 3 year old daughter. Cody likes Paige and wants to get to know her better, but has his daughter to think of and worries that his daughter will become attached to Paige and get hurt if it doesn't work out.

Diane has been praying for Evan to fall in love and settle down, but like most of us, she prays for God to send him someone while trying to make it happen. She realizes that she was trying to control the outcome which was not what God had in mind.

This is a sweet, clean Christian romance.

Who knew a dreaded job interview could bring so much good fortune into Paige Spears (no Relation to Brittany) life? Paige was eager to be on time for her interview for the job she knew wasn’t for her. She arrived an hour early and decided to get some breakfast at Amy’s Express to settle her nerves. That’s where her future was changed! She met Diane Hunt and nothing was ever the same. Mrs Hunt offered her the best summer job: to go with her to Myrtle Beach for a week and help her for a few weeks thereafter.
Little did either of them realize that their plans might not happen? Or happen in a totally unexpected twist?
I hope you will enjoy this story as much as I did.

Fun and light and makes you smile

I liked the way the family loved each other. I liked The way Dee Dee followed God, and the way there were basically no emotional games nor misunderstandings as the main couple got to know each other at first. Of course, if things are going to move that fast in a week, you can't have much of that. Ok it's unlikely things move that fast in a week, but it was fun reading and made me smile multiple times, and the light, happy atmosphere filled with loving family put this book above average.

Gentle love

When you are in the mood for a well written love story that leaves you feeling good, you can't go wrong with Brooke St. James. This story doesn't disappoint. I love that it's about a Christian family but portrayed without an ounce of 'preaching' at the reader. The characters are perfectly flawed but not overwhelmingly so and it doesn't take long to feel like you know them (or want to) personally. I enjoy suspense, action, edge of your seat books but, well written, gentle, wholesome love is like a warm hug to a weary soul.

I don't think I've read one of her books before, but I throughly enjoyed this book. It is my kind of book. A good clean love story which is hard to find. I didn't realize it was a series when I started it. It has a good story line and you want to continue the story. She has a good way of drawing you in & making you part of the story. You feel like you are there with the family & are a part of it. I want to continue the story.

Although I got this book for free I am not part of her ARC group. I wish I was because I like her writing style and am looking forward to reading more from her.

Love comes unexpectedly! I truly enjoyed this warm, clean, Christian story about the large Hunt Family spending time together in Myrtle Beach. Although Grandma Diane, the matriarch of the family, was trying to matchmake with the wrong grandson, the trio of Paige, Cody and his adorable three year old daughter Ryan were a perfect fit. Their interactions were just wonderful as were the secondary characters. I also enjoyed the sweet narration by Kate Rudd. I just fell in love with her version of Ryan!

Cute story

This was a fun story about falling in love when you least expect it. I appreciate the restraint the couple used in front of his daughter. And for the slow start in display of affection. To become friends first helps a relationship.

I was disappointed in the number of misspelled words in the ebook. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. It was very enjoyable to read and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Let God direct our life.

It is so wonderful when we listen to and let God direct our life. This book is a great story of a .mother who follows God direction with out really understanding why she was inviting Page to go to Myrtle Beach with her family. She thought and kind of hope that Page and one of her other grandson might be interested in each other. She didn't realize God had other plans. A real heart warming story.

I was hesitant to start reading another series by Brooke St. James but I'm so glad I started this one. I never thought I'd love another family as much as the Martin Family! I love the Hunt family, and who doesn't have the dream of finishing up college and someone whisking you away to a vacation to enjoy life a bit before joining the "real world". This book was great and I'm so glad I read it. I can't wait to read more books in the Hunt Family series!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am a sucker for sweet romance stories, and that is exactly what this is. I loved the characters, and though it has a little fantasy-feeling in the perfection of this family it really touched my heart. I'm not sure if a three year old can talk with such property but Ryan is adorable, and I loved th "goofiness" and humor of Paige. Cant' wait to get my hands on the rest of the series.

On her way to a job interview, Paige Spears meets Diane Hunt who gives her a summer job, but first she takes her on a vacation with her family to Myrtle Beach. In meeting the Hunt family, she is drawn to Cody and his young daughter, Ryan. As they build sand castles and play games together, their friendship grows, but neither are looking for a summer fling. Even when she learns one of the grandson’s is her teen heartthrob, actor Logan Ritchie. An uplifting book well worth the read.

This was a fun read. While a bit unrealistic to me, I thought the book was very sweet and well paced, although I wouldn’t have minded if it was a little bit longer. I really liked all the characters and it was refreshing to read a book where the characters didn’t jump to assumptions or were quick to anger. There were a few things that I thought were a little weird given they are Christian’s, and I wouldn’t have minded it diving deeper into that. But overall, a very cute and easy read.

This was a sweet story about a young man with a child and a sweet young lady who is trying to decide where to go with her life, and a grandma who knows how to follow the promptings of the spirit. It was cute and funny and the people in it were fun and endearing. It was a great quick read and I highly recommend it.

Best Sweet Romance

This is the best sweet romance I've ever read. I love a good, sweet, romantic book that doesn't have sex scenes or cussing in it. If you're looking for a clean romantic book to read them this is the one. It will not.only grasp your attention, make you fall in love with the characters but also make you laugh too. I will definitely be reading this book again!

I loved this book. My only complain was that love happened a little to fast but overall, I adored it. Paige didn't know what she was getting into but got more than she ever imagined in the end. Cody was a good boy just trying to do his best for his daughter and the best was Paige. They were a really cute couple and I really liked them. Can't wait to read more about the rest of them
