This is a quick sweet read. Ramona's life has been a tough one but she keeps reaching for her dreams until her mother leaves her alone with nothing. Now she has no family and her dreams seem further out of reach. Hope remains in her plans to find her mother and bring her back home. Ramona signs on as a mail-order bride in order to go to Austin where her mother headed. There she meets Michael. He has worked hard most of his life and has built a good life for himself. Good job, new house. Now he j ...more

This is a very touching read of one woman whose mother left her to remarry just leaving a note. Even though Ramona is of age she is still heartbroken that her mother would do this. She has nothing and no one with her father being dead. This is her journey to live her dream of singing and dancing on Broadway and finding her mother.

Moving in with a friend she just about gives up on life. Her mother has always been there for her now she is gone. With her friends help she decides she must find her

Ramona Selmer isn't your typical mail order bride. She lives in New York and has dreams of appearing on Broadway having taken dance, voice and drama lessons since she was four. No her parents were not rich her father had died five years earlier and her mother worked as a maid to support them. One day she came home to find that her mother had left a note telling her that she had met a man and left to go to Austin TX.

Ramona decides to become a mail order bride to have a way to go find her mother

Tried to like her but just couldn't

I tried to be open minded and like the character of Ramona but she had beenw written for too long was irritatingly selfish and selfishly resilient. I believed the intention was to show her up as flawed which was a great intention because we are humans after all and characters should be written to reflect our flaws, but this girl comes off as a bit too self centered and opportunistic with no likeable qualities. I have read books with despicable characters with s

I thought the premise was unique and the writing was good. It shows that you can set your mind on one thing but the heart can guide you in a different direction. The story was believable with a few twists thrown in to keep it interesting and entertaining. There is still good in people no matter how they feel or what happens to them.

The book was filled with a detail and background history which helps you to connect to the characters. I felt for the hardships the characters had to go through and
Right now I'm about 64% of the way through the book and I cannot stand Ramona. She's a brat. Petty and childish and selfish. Because of that I'm not enjoying the book much though the story is good. I guess it says something for the writing that I am having such a strong reaction to the main character. But I still can't really enjoy the story since I know she's going to end up with a happy ending that she utterly does not deserve.

Now that I've finished it I can say I never did end up liking Ramon

From losing dad to mom running out. Life is so hard.

Trying to get out of depression and wearing out her welcome, Ramona is in a bind. Soon she will be forced out. Finding out about being a mail order bride changes everything. The fact she can go to a man in Austin helps. But she is going for false reasons. Hard to put down.

Great story. Loved Ramona and her stubbornness in keeping her childhood dream alive but still able to acknowledge her new dreams as they entered her life.

Changes beyond control

Ramona came to be Michael's mail order bride but she travels to Austin under false pretenses. But time together brings them together and shows them that they need to be together always. This story gives you all the ends and outs of the story.

Great story

Lots of back ground very little of the actual couple but how it's written is wonderful. One spelling error she wrote boats instead of boots but it just made me giggle thinking he had giant feet lol. I definitely wish the book was longer but I'm loving this series
