Thomas Kinkade was known as the "Painter of Light." His works, although spurned by the secular art establishment, were very popular with Christians and many others.

REVIEW: This Advent devotional was special in several ways. First, the devotionals themselves were well written and timely. Second, the prints of Kinkade's paintings before every devotional added such a beautiful touch to this book. Finally, it gives a wonderful glimpse into who Thomas Kinkade was as well as his family since the gifted artist and Christian man left this world long before his time. This devotional really touched my heart. It is one that will stay in my collection and be reread many times. This would make a wonderful gift.

2020 update: I have been reading and loving this devotional for years. However, this year I have actually noticed 2 verses used for a devotion that have been taken out of context. It was today's (Day 14, which is 11th Dec) and then flicking through I caught sight of Day 29.
Day 14 is talking about how it will be in the Millennial Reign, peace even among wild animals so that even a child will be able to lead them. Not leading the way with Christmas traditions.
Day 29 is talking about trees not bearing good fruit being chopped down. John the Baptist is talking to the Pharisees and Sadducees that were nearby calling on them to repent and bring forth good fruit. It's not about Christmas trees being thrown away.
Most of it is still good, and a joy to read through the season. It's just been a bit tainted by these entries, so I have lowered my 5* rating to 2* and completely changed my review.

Sadly, it's no longer a devotional I will be recommending. :(

I love this book. I would love to have more of these from Thomas Kinkade, but it will never happen.

One of the very best Christmas devotional books I've ever read. Combined with the beautiful paintings of Thomas Kinkade, it was exactly what I needed to read at the end of each day during the holidays.

Wish I'd read it during the advent season, but I still really enjoyed it. Not deep, just nice daily reminders to be grateful and kind.
