Intrepid Reporter in Fast-Paced Mystery

This debut mystery features a young radio reporter, Lisa Powers, who takes on the case of a missing older man. Lisa agrees with the man’s family that the police aren’t doing enough. At the same time, she pursues the mysterious death of a socialite in a suspicious fire. As if she weren’t busy enough, Lisa helps the Chandler Police, who are short-handed, review a cold case file of a businessman killed during the saving and loan scandal in the 1980’s.

Lisa is a crime reporter, helps the police department solve cold cases, and writes and performs a mystery podcast. You might say she has a singular focus when it comes to her interests. This focus, though, makes her very good at her job and very effective at her work helping with the cold cases. She's young and a little over-eager sometimes, which gets her into situations she probably could avoid if she wasn't such a go-getter.

You will definitely want to have plenty of allotted reading time before starting this one. It was hard to put down. I was so engrossed in the story that I put off many of my important things to do. Laurie Fagen does a great job of creating a Mystery that keeps the reader invested and guessing.

Lisa is a wonderful lead, she is fun to read about and easy to get behind as a lead character.

Lots of twists and turns and a wonderfully woven mystery.

I liked the fact that we had a main character who was a reporter, yet finds herself more involved due to circumstance.

There is definite mystery woven throughout this novel. It will keep you guessing and the action and suspense were both very well executed.

Superbly written

Fade Out deserves a place on your bookshelf if you enjoy crime fiction. It is a delightful read set in Arizona with a reporter who does not realize that her journalism may cost her life.
