A blend of shifter romance and urban fantasy, this book exceeded my expectations. I'm not always the biggest romance fan so the fact that this had a solid plot with more than a hint of mystery really helped to sell it for me, not to mention the interesting nods to Native American culture in its setting. I loved the fact that the author went to the effort of including a dictionary of commonly used terms and phrases, it really showed how much thought had gone into the world building behind this se ...more

First book in a new shifter series and wow! it's good. Intense, spiritual, magical and sad. The main female character is mixed up, confused and often suffers a deep depression due to something that happened a few years previous. Two main male characters are opposites of each other, one is very much alpha male and all wolf, the other while still being strong is more sensitive and calm. Reed is human/stag and has loved Veli since they were very young, told by the elders

This book is an intense, emotional roller coaster. It is full of magical battles, a few laughs and lots of tears. You will need a box of tissues handy.
The Tribe are Native American shifters who live cut off from the outside world. They are very in touch with the spiritual side of their natures.
Our heroine, Nirvelli is depressed and distracted. She should be happy, in a very short time she is going to marry Reed, the man she has loved for years. Velli's problem is the huge burden of shame and

This is the first book I have read by Sarah Cass. Her style of writing is confident and the book is well written. This book is the start of a new series about a tribe of Native American shifters, who live in a community cut off from the outside world. On the face of it this would be my favourite type of paranormal book. The author introduces, what feels like all the characters for the whole series in the first few chapters. This makes for the first 40% of the book very confusing. You me

This Urban Fantasy Paranormal Romance was not what I was expecting right out of the gate. I was very surprised at the glossary to help us understand certain terms and thought there has to be a Native American bent to the book and I was very pleasantly surprised to see this was indeed the case. Knowing 'The Tribe' are shifters, but then watching at least one use some Elemental Magic to some degree was neat. Who is this warrior Kane and his mate that have come back to the Tribe? What does this mea ...more

Sarah Cass’ world is regularly turned upside down by her three special needs kids and loving mate, so she breaks genre barriers; dabbling in horror, straight fiction and urban fantasy. She loves historicals and romance, and characters who are real and flawed, so she writes to understand what makes her fictional people tick. And she lives for a happy ending – eventually. And enough twists to make i ...more
