Small novelization of the film but good enough fix to my Marvel reading and watching phase. Wish Marvel would release Adult novelizations though!

Painful to read. I know it's not meant for my age, but this was not written well. The order they tell the story would be super confusing if I hadn't already seen the movie. Which I had, so I found the excessive quoting pretty annoying. I think I'm done with Marvel book.😬

I wish that Marvel would publish adult movie novelizations in addition to/ in place of the junior novels, as they had for Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. Oh well.
The junior novels that they do publish, do not tell the entire story. They act as more of an appetizer for seeing the movie... I guess that is the point.
Generally, I'll give one of these Marvel junior novels three stars because I can't fault the book for failing to be something that it's not. They're generally well written and entertaining enough...
I had to rate this book four stars, however.
The author tells this story, shifting between the present and the past... and that is not how the movie plays out... but I suspect that I know why he does this... and it's pretty cool. I won't spoil either the movie or the book... if you experience both, you may see what I mean.

What's here is good, but for some reason it doesn't contain the entire story from the movie. Did the author not have access to the full script? Were they trying to keep the novel spoiler-free (it was published before the movie was released)? Whatever the reason, it makes an otherwise fine take on the story somewhat disappointing.

Interesting enough for someone with a love for all things Marvel and Doctor Strange and holds its own well in comparison to the movie, a great idea to look into this book if you're a fanfiction writer and in need of refreshing on the story but don't feel like watching the movie again. (Also I love the fact that the dog thing made it into the book even if it didn't make it into the movie)

Verdict:‌
Magic and magicians always interest me. Doctor Strange is unequivocally my favourite character in the MCU, followed close behind by Groot. This book, though half-assed, feels serviceable enough only because it features my favourite character. Major Spoiler for anyone picking up this book is that it is not complete. It just ends suddenly somewhere around the halftime mark in the movie. It just sours the whole experience.

This junior novelization has the same issue one of the ones that released before Frozen II did: It randomly cuts off and ends around 2/3 into the movie plot or so. Having the short choppy chapters alternate between present day and flashbacks felt a bit “off” and confusing too. That setup can work, but I didn’t feel like it was very smooth here. For me it made perfectly good sense because I’ve seen the Doctor Strange movie, but if a kid picked this up and hasn’t watched it yet? Well, then they are probably going to be confused.

I did still enjoy this- it was a very quick read and it was fun, but I wish it contained the full movie plot.

I don't have much to say in this book because I didn't enjoy it whatsoever. I wanted to read this to get to know the movie better along with Strange because I don't really like the movie. I thought since I like reading the book will be easier to get through. I was wrong.
The writing was horrible. Yes, I understand this is for little children, but still, the writing was bad. I barely remember what happened besides that Strange got into a car accident and lost his hands so he went to this place to get them fixed where he ended up getting these powers. BORING! No to mention Strange was a total bitch in the book. I don't remember if he was like that in the movie because I haven't watched it in quite some time.
If a younger child (like 7-9) wants to read this because they like superheroes, marvel, and/or fantasy I would say this is good. But if they want something like that I suggest The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken or the Percy Jackson series they're both much better. Otherwise, this book was really boring and not worth the 1.5 hours I took to read it. Don't recommend it.

Not bad, could have been better. In most cases the book is better than the movie, but this is a novelisation inspired by the film. It seems to have been based on a different version of the screenplay than the movie (I think there are some extra scenes and dialogue). The story is left unfinished, presumably to encourage readers to see the film and find out what happens next. I can't imagine how those amazing visual effects could have been described in a book, anyway!

Really a Junior Novel... there could have been way more insight into feelings etc. And half of the story is missing (the book ends at the part, where Kaecilius tells Strange, that he wants to get into the Dark Dimension). Also some scenes are missing from the movie, while two are added.

This book made me want watch the movie again. Although it doesn't give you the entire story it does intrigue the reader enough to want to watch it. Also, I didn't like the story told in dual timelines but it was an interesting one time read.
