First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of these two books. All opinions are my own." That done, My daughters were greatly excited to get these books and considered them art class, so we have been working through them as a lesson in school each day. The first one showed different ways to write the alphabet letters so they can be fancy or plain, and taught how to draw certain things, taught about color usage and more. My daughter is using what she learns to decorate her algebra pages.

I'll say right up front that these two books are definitely geared towards women, not men....... and I am a man. However, I do occasionally review books that aren't necessarily for a single guy.

These books are very cool. Who doesn't like a good devotional, and the author came up with this great idea to make two devotionals that are definitely hands-on. You cannot just pick up these devotionals and read through them...... they require some work, effort, and a little bit of artistry.....which is

Scripture Doodle is awesome to use in your devotional walk with God, and as you turn the first few pages there is a page that tells you how to use. There are two six-week devotionals to choose from, and each will bring you deeper in your worship and relationship with God.
What a great way to begin each day with a bible verse, and reflection and a way to put yourself in that verse, and then adding a doodle or drawing of your own, showing how you have been touched, and add to your own personal

I LOVED these two books! They are unique in that they are a combination of journaling, doodles, and coloring along with a six-week devotional experience. And they are great for a person who wants to join the journaling/coloring craze but isn't sure what to do. They start with basic instructions on materials needed, coloring tips with a basic color wheel chart, and lettering tips. So cool! As you move through the book, you'll progress to more in depth and intricate doodling while memorizing and ...more

Scripture Doodle God’s Promises is done in the same format of Scripture Doodle, only this time the 6-week devotional focuses on God’s promises. This devotional walks us through the promises showing us that He is more than sufficient for us, that His character itself is faithful and trustworthy. This hybrid devotional and coloring book lets us be creative and I like that as a particular truth is focused on we can create it on the paper and on our mind, hopefully remembering it always. The ...more

This book is great for yourself, or perfect as a gift! I have both ScriptureDoodle's by April Knight; my 7th grade daughter oohed & aahed over them, so I gave her this one. She absolutely loves it, and it's been a true delight as a mom to look through her book and see all the ways she is learning, growing, and being creative in learning scripture! I enjoy it, too, but because so many reviews focus on adult women utilizing this book, I felt it important to focus on how much I recommend it for ...more

Again as you can see, this Doodle Devotional is much like the first one by April Knight. I love how she makes learning about God fun and adventurous, and how I can date and save these books for my children to look through when they are much older. There are a total of 120 Pages in this book as well, and the paper quality is good , not great but pretty good. Remember if you use paints to let the pages dry very well before you close your book so you do not ruin all your hard work. I would honestly ...more

I've been wanting to dive deeper into the Scriptures after going through my Bible now for a third time. Even though I find new meaning each time, I revisit those familiar books I wanted more in my personal study and devotions. Now there is a great way to do just that, thanks to April Knight, author of Scripture Doodles and Scripture Doodles: God's Promises. These beautiful books incorporate a deeper study into the promises we find in the Bible along with some colorful coloring to accompany your ...more

“April Knight is an artist and a worshiper who loves all colors and loves stories of God’s Faithfulness.”

She starts out this 6 week devotional book with info on how to use this book use in order to get the most out of these pages. The author states, “Recent research shows that doodling helps people stay focused, grasp new concepts, and retain information. It can be used to 1) Focus on things above 2) Worship God 3) Grasp biblical truths 4) memorize scripture 5) enhance bible study and devotional

Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with coloring! Long before "adult coloring books" were a hot trend, I would still color my kids' coloring books alongside them. Coloring is fun, relaxing, and relieves stress, at least for me. I get a lot of enjoyment out of being able to color a beautiful picture without the stress of trying to draw something by hand (because, let's face it, I have absolutely no skills in that area!). ScriptureDoodle: God's Promises - A Six-Week Devotional Experience ...more

In this well designed devotional we follow a six week experience by reading about God's Promises. This one is a great tool to remind us of His promises and to study the scriptures where His promises can be found in the Bible. In one week the book talks about "Fit Together." We all have a place in this world and our talents should bless each other. The word tells us to work together as one , but are we doing that? How many of us are working on our own and forgetting to include others on our ...more

ScriptureDoodle was created by April Knight. The website says its mission is "to inspire connection with the Father, develop community amongst creatives wholove the Word of God, and resource that community with the tools to enhance their gifts and talents."

The basic idea of ScriptureDoodle is to help the reader think on and memorize scripture by writing it out along with drawing and doodling. I received two books, ScriptureDoodle and ScriptureDoodle God's Promises. As soon as I opened the pages

I absolutely LOVE these books!! They are so amazing and spark your creativity as well as bring you into a closer relationship with God.

The books are not just coloring books - they inspire you to be creative yourself and to use your creative time as a time of worship. I really like how she first shares how to use the book to gain the most out of it. Then she shares some tips on how to use colored pencils, the elements of the color wheel, and more. I found this incredibly helpful because sometimes

I will just start off by saying, I stink at having devotionals. I have tried and I have a hard time to sticking with plans. It is hard to do at time for me.

I have seen the journaling Bibles, but the idea of drawing in the Bible I can't get past. So when I saw this book pop up, I wanted to try it. I'm someone who is able to remember better when I'm able to write things out or doodle as I listen or read. This book offered the best of both of those worlds.

The book is a good size book, regular

My Review:

These devotionals are so much more than your typical Bible study. They offer the creative heart so much more than the typical adult coloring book. Each book is a six week long devotional type activity. It is filled with health and substance for the should but there are places in each book for daily doodling. The author gives us a new word for this activity, it is called Scripture Doodling. It is based on Scripture and on different things you can do to expand on the subject.

Immersing yourself into scripture can be rewarding and fulfilling. But often we get caught up in the stress of life and find the task of starting a Bible study time consuming and daunting. The author has taken a unique approach to immersing the reader into scripture. The book is a six-week devotional that includes adult coloring, doodle pages, space for tons of notes, creative prompts, and scripture. There is a brief page on how to use the book, but the author encourages creative expression and ...more

I was sent a copy of both Scripture Doodle and Scripture Doodle: God's Promises. To me, they make me think of something that might be used in a ladies' class that might meet on a Thursday(or another day that isn't official "church gathering" time). It mixes teaching you how to doodle and create art with a Bible lesson. April gives you instructions on how to do things, from super basic and up. These books are mostly about the art, though it is meant to create art that keeps the focus on God. The ...more

Recently on Facebook, I posted a status about coloring books that fall into the category of “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” (Anyone want to color The Golden Girls?) But the Scripture Doodle books by April Knight do NOT fall into that category!

For starters, they are so much more than “coloring books” – they really are devotional books. And you won’t just sit there mindlessly coloring pictures set to Scripture either, though there is a time and place for that too. Instead, you

Scripture Doodle is a six-week Devotional that teaches coloring techniques. They are written by author April Knight. I received both books to use for inspirational devotions. There are coloring activities, prayer appointments and more. There are 120 pages in each book, enough to keep an adult busy. Yet more if a page seems difficult. Just work at your own pace and relax. It's set up to do a page a day, so depending on your pace the devotional could take longer. Once colored the pictures are ...more

These books scripture doodle books are really a great way for those who enjoy "hand lettering" or "scripture doodling" but aren't feeling brave enough to try on their own. I, for one, am not super artistic and these little books are perfect.

April Knight guides you step by step to improve your doodling and grow as an artist. But what I love is that her goal is not to have you "become an artist" but rather for you do have a devotional experience with God and His Word.

So we have all seen the new coloring books that are more detailed for adults. These books take it step further. Combine Bible journaling and a coloring book of sorts and come up with a great idea! Both of these are a six week devotional. The front shows you how to use the book and gives you a million ideas on how to move forward. What I love about these books is it gives you a start on being creative. I can stare at a blank sheet of paper all day and still come up with nothing. These books give ...more

These ScriptureDoodle books are great for enhancing personal devotional time. It was a pleasant surprise to find the coloring and lettering tips at the beginning of the books, as well as suggestions of how to use the books. It seems these books could be used for more than just "adult coloring" pages. You could even create your own journal, or use the techniques for journaling in your Bible if you wish.

I'm not sure who is enjoying these more: my 23-year-old daughter, or I. We both think you ought

April Knight is the first author of devotional doodling books I have come across. Her work is light, joyous and faith filled. I found the most moving page to be that of determining what puzzle piece I was on the body, I chose to leave the piece that I felt was me white, and filled the others with colors bright and fun. I found myself connecting beyond just the coloring with these books, and think anyone who feels they need a faith recharge will find these books to be wonderful.
