本书是王力先生讲解中国古典诗词格律的名作，自出版以来，已售出几十万册。因作者的初衷便是将诗词格律作为一种基本知识来告诉读者，故而简明扼要、深入浅出、便于学习是其最大的特点，也是本书长期受到读者好评的原因。全书共四章：第一章介绍诗词格律的一些基本概念，包括韵、四声、平仄、对仗等；第二章分别讲解律诗、绝句、古体诗的诗律；第三章讲词律，分为词的种类、词谱以及词韵、词的平仄与对仗三小节； 第四章讲诗词的节奏及其语法特点。书后附录《诗韵举要》、《词谱举要》。此次再版又增加了一篇《诗律余论》，是本书出版后，作者对诗律部分内容的补充。（豆瓣）

The more I read, the more I realize how little I know about Chinese culture. The topics in this small book are not always accessible to me. Also because of the era when it was written, there are lots of samples from Chairman Mao, which though well written, still feel awkward to see them everywhere, eclipsing and outnumbering poems from more established poets. It made me wonder as Chairman Mao seems to love Chinese culture and obviously had quite good education about it, why would he be so determined to destroy it, and along with it generations of intelligentsia.
