Whilst reading this... I realised how many Manga series I read that are about Excorcists... 😂
This series is okay, interesting elements and the designs are quite something to gawk at, of not a little busy at times.
One thing I find lacking in this series is that it doesn't give itself change to breath a little and allow characters to grow between. But then again, technically its still early days in the series.
Definitely gonna be reading this for the long haul.
The body proportions often look fucked up in this manga. It's less notable with the two leads now that they're taller, but... Sayo keeps looking like a fucking bobblehead.

Mayura thighs when cowering in fear...!
Mayura butt when Higano appears in front of her...!!! 🤤

Omg Mayura! A Twelve Guardian! But if she's the 12th one then shouldn't she be more powerful? And Sayo gave Benio an enchantment that basically made her Kegare? What was that stuff about her always being a basara? So intrigued!
Well, this is so much better than the anime adaptation. I had no idea the anime had so much non-canon content (basically the entire anime is a completely different story, except for the very first arc; it surprised me to realize that Kinako doesn't even appear in the manga until volume 10). I enjoyed the anime and thought it was an okay shounen, but in comparison to the manga, the anime is pretty bad. The manga story is obviously much better and the development is more logical and believable (plus, the animation was pretty crappy, whereas the art of the manga is great). There are also plenty of little mysteries that aren't present in the anime. I can understand why the manga has a higher average rating. This is my favorite volume so far, even though it consisted of only one fight. But, well, you can hardly have a shonen manga without the fights with the talking and analyzing of the enemy's fighting techniques, or without the main characters losing at first and then getting some power-up that allows them to defeat the bad guy. This manga is your typical shonen, but it's still good and fun to read. And this was an interesting fight with some nice surprises, plot-wise.
I was...not expecting that. And I really can't say anymore without spoiling the ENTIRE volume, so I'm just going to say that this volume was epic, incredible, and full of surprises.
Characters pull out a bunch of random-ass ultimate power-ups out of nowhere and the fights aren't even over yet, a whole volume of ultimate techniques that are apparently not the ultimate techniques? At least there were some neat action shots in this one.
This is a very battle heavy volume and the plot hardly expands. Mayura is battling a kegare and eventually gains a super power from her spiritual guardian,a white tiger. Not much more to say. I won't be continuing with series as I have too many better ones currently going. I may come back to it, though.
