Lots of really great practical advice.

Good grief what a boring book. I suppose if you really want to know what it takes to be a leader or a manager, you definitely need to read this book. But I would hope that a few of these ideas would already be a part of your repertoire before you even consider this kind of career. We got things like learning how to delegate, recognizing poor performance and what to do about it, assessing contractors, using the media to your advantage - it really is all in here, but honestly, there are no big surprises. A great starter book, but little else.

Textbook for a management class. As a stand alone this book would have completely sucked but the way it was used in my class I found it very helpful with just some basic information.
