The Smart Kid by Bob Miller

I was overwhelmed with emotions during reading and at the ending of The Smart Kid; all of them good. I could write a paper on how involved with twists and turn this book is but, instead let me say just read it!

Matt is a very smart kid, as the title suggests and is looking for a grown up to trust. He has found one, Charleen, the new counselor at Jefferson Elementary School.

Charleen is going through all the children’s files and notices something odd about Matt; as she l

Won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. It has likeable characters, and a villain you can really boo and hiss! Although the scenario isn't probable, it's told with so much possibility you find yourself totally willing to go along with the premise. It all revolves around 12-year old Michael Shale, and the fact that he isn't 12 years old at all. And a very nasty senator wants to know his secret. All in all, a very readable story.

I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.
I enjoyed this book. This is a well written story of a boy trying to hide from the mysteries of his past. The action is nonstop and the tension is palpable. The characters are well written ... Michael especially is very real and likable. The suspense is gripping and makes the book a page turner. There is much more to come and I will be looking forward to it.

A great spin on a good idea. Excellent read, lots of action, fast paced. Lots of human warmth and feel good factor.

Sci-fi action-packed mystery and adventure. Excellent!

I hope there is a follow-up book to this one. I rarely read scifi books, but this was totally worthy of my time. I gave 5* bc it met my five conditions. Well written (story & grammatically), level of research and intelligence, kept me wanting to continue, interpersonal relationships, and the flow was flawless. I highly recommend this book.

A fast-paced and breathless young adult novel, The Smart Kid starts off with a bang. From its exciting opening escape scene, to the deepening mystery of Michael's secret, to his multiple escapes and his ultimate victory over his tormentor, the reader's interest never wanes. The author writes clearly, infuses his characters with lots of emotion, and places the reader in the moment with rich descriptions.
