What if God wants to use the little ones around your dining room table to cure diseases, preach the Gospel, or become the future President of the United States? What if your child could spend their formative years building a future, because you were just nuts enough to ask God for this kid's purpose and then prepare them for it ahead of time? What if you could change the lineage in your family tree to include servant leaders who reach the height of all God created them to be and do? In Please God Don't Let Me Screw This Up!, Lyette Reback shares the most important parenting lessons that each of her fifteen children have taught her. She believes that God is going to do His greatest work through the moms and dads of this generation who will raise up some planet-shaking prodigies. Through her unique lens of simultaneously mothering fifteen children at every stage of development -- from age two to age twenty -- she offers her tips, strategies, and principles on how to raise a dynamic, creative, and hard-working child through focusing on family, purpose, joy, and faith.
Although I'm not a mother, I found this book to be a quick, inspiring and motivating read. Lyette, has an easy way of telling stories to illustrate what it means to raise confident, healthy children with purpose and vision. I have no doubt that the Reback children will grow up to be many great human beings. Not having any children of my own, there are still a great many lessons that can be gathered from Lyette Reback and her family in this book.
Great parenting book...offering reflection on each child's purpose. I enjoyed learning about the family and how they make their faith the center of their lives and mission as a family. I have 2 great take-aways from it: 1) date your husband and your children! and 2) your child's quirks are potential strengths - pay attention to them in terms of helping them unravel their purpose and passions. A lovely read!
