Got this book as a present which inspired me to travel to Europe. I followed the guides for the Cinque Terre, The Dolomites and The Black Forest, which were amazing places to experience. Sometimes the directions were a bit unclear but I made it through in the end. I recommend cross referencing with a map of the local area so you have a clear idea of where you’re going. 100% going to go back some day and do more of the walks!
Advice For the Dolomites go to the tourist office in Cortina and get a map. I suggest you to combine going to the Cinque Torri & hiking up to the peak of Averau with going to Lago Federa. Take the passo Falzarego bus to the base of Cinque Torri, you can pay for the ski lift or hike up. Then once your finished with Cinque Torri and Averau take path 437 downhill (consult map for further guidance) and then join 434 to get to the lake. If you want to do the tri cime lavaredo, take the earliest bus, they are infrequent. I had to wait until 2pm and by then I couldn’t do the walk. Also if you are doing the multi day walk, you have to email or call the rifugio you plan on staying at (I stayed at pederü it had nice food as well). I had to take two rest days because I was sore from three days of hiking.
