I told her to stay away from me, but she wouldn’t listen…
ADAM I’m no good for her, and I can't catch a break. Cast out of the MC, I'm on my own with no protection, just the gun in my hands. That's when I meet her. And I know I'm about to ruin her damn life.
Brimstone. Fire. Sinners. Users. This is who I share blood with. But there’s no one to trust when your whole crew has turned on you. I can't keep running from my demons. It's time to face them head on.
ROSE I need an escape. This small town will be the death of me. I watch as he comes to claim me and I can't fight it. I wanted to make my family proud. I wanted to be their good daughter. Not anymore. Not today. Not since I met him.
He knows who I am. He sees me from the inside. He protects me. He's my salvation, my one ticket out of here. But Adam is damaged. And he has a price on his head. Now we’re forced to go on the run, fighting off the Cartel and undercover Feds.
There's a fire on the horizon. We're going to get burned.
Author’s note: Burnt is a full standalone romance novel from the series Courage MC, with its own HEA and absolutely NO CLIFFHANGER.
Major props needs to be given to Kara Hart, in this exhilarating, fast paced bad boy read. Talking about corrupting Eve. I’m almost certain that’s what Adam sets out to do with Rose. She’s young, naive and pristine clean to the underworld and criminal elements. Desperate to experience freedom, adventure, she recklessly follows him deeper into the chaos. He claims to wanna get out of the life, that he’s had a enough of the forbidden fruit, but his dangerous attitude and bold actions says differently! Again I'd like to say thanks to the author for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

1 Star
As a huge fan of Sons of Anarchy (and Charlie Hunnam) I love MC, bikers' sories. There's only the little detail that it could be a bit too much, and this book was too much for me.
Rose's a nice, young girl who meets this biker, Adam in the middle of the night and goes with him after a promise of adventure. Adam is alone after leaving his crew so now he wonders through life looking for a purpose. Together, they go to this "adventure" meeting old friends of Adam's in a world of guns, drugs and explosions.
The thing is it wasn't well executed. The storyline was weak and shallow as the situations, I, personally like developed charachters and neither Rose or Adam were like that. The story and situations were all over the place not to mention how much I ended up hating Rose and how unlikely everything felt to me.
Sorry but the truth is I did not like this at all.
Unfortunately, I struggled with this book. I really couldn't stand the "insta-love" between Adam and Rose. Her jumping on the back of his bike just minutes after meeting him was just so hard to believe. And leaving her family who apparently weren't so bad.
The storyline was a bit choppy and I still don't know what Rose thinks she did to cause all the chaos going on with Adam and his crew. It felt like there were some key parts missing to the story.
I was provided an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review.
This debut book by a new author started off really good, became a little confusing and slightly repetitive for a while (as it also became really unbelievable and unrealistic) but then finished off with a big bang for the final third of the story. A mix of biker, mafia, FBI informants and people who want a bigger, better life for themselves...this one is crazy and wild...sexy, rough and gritty with a touch of heart. It could have used a bit more editing (for spelling and grammar) and perhaps a bit more focus on only a few things, rather than trying to cover way too many different stories in one book. The main characters Adam and Rose, were likeable enough even when she was showing her age by being too girlish and he was at times, over-the-top with the bossy alpha thing going on. All in all, it was a pretty entertaining first book that was fast paced and full of action. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
**** 3.5 **** "escape without burning up in the fire" stars
Burnt is an action packed, fast-paced, well-written romance genre. Since this was a single character POV, it was hard for me to fully connect to the story. Don't take me wrong, is a good story, but in my personal opinion I would have love both POV's. I love the chemistry between Rose and Adam and how things started to play out between them.
There is action, suspense, drama, romance, and much more on this book, which by the way, can be read as standalone.
ARC courtesy of the Author in exchange for my honest review.
I'm sorry, I don't see what everyone is talking about. I couldn't finish this I got 34% in and even that was pushing it, I was ready to call it quits at 15%. This strange guy comes up to a girl knowing everything about her and she just goes with him to this sketchy place and witnesses a drug deal. And then in day two claims she was in love with him? No thank you. Kara Hart, had the right idea for a story but wasnt ready to execute it properly.
I received this book in an exchange for an honest review. I must be honest I wasn't s big fan of this book. I was often very confused with what was happening. I felt the book was all over the place but i just didn't understand why. A lot of the stuff was unbelievable like for one Rose had just met Adam and suddenly she agreed to go somewhere far with him... Umm yea no offense but that's not something that would truly happen. I do wish the author well and I'm sure her work will improve.
3.5 stars action packed, fast moving, MC romance with a HEA!
As a new author, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from Kara Hart but luckily I was surprised and would consider reading more stories by this author in the future. She has a good writing style and while the book had a few errors/missing words here and there, I’ve definitely seen a lot worse and it won’t throw you off too much.
Burnt is an action packed romance story of Rose and Adam, told solely from Rose’s point of view. She is a nineteen year old good girl keen for adventure and he is a troubled older guy who gives her an adventure to remember. Personally, I would have liked to have seen some scenes from Adam’s point of view, just to have added an extra dimension to the book and get a better understanding of his character because I didn’t feel like I fully understood him at times.
At the start of this book, after being drawn in by the intriguing prologue, I was worried when the book actually started as Rose appeared so naive and things just felt a bit creepy. I really wasn’t sure where the book was going to go at that point and I wasn’t sure I liked how naive she came across and really hoped that wasn’t setting the standard for the book. Everything was just moving too quickly for me personally at that point. Luckily, as the book moved on, I warmed to Rose and got captivated by the chemistry between her and Adam and how things started to play out.
Burnt moves at a fast pace and the characters have a clear chemistry, although at first I thought it was more one sided with just Rose’s feeling but soon saw it was definitely mutual. However, while their relationship starts fairly quickly, the way the story pans out, it allowed for a clear development of the relationship between the two, despite the crazy action going on around them. Also, as a result of the fast pace of the book, it took me a while to get my head into it and fully follow everything as the flow was ok but felt rushed at times. Once you get your head into, you can follow but like I say, just takes a bit of time.
Overall, I would say if you are looking for a relatively light romance, this isn’t for you as it is packed with action and drama virtually from the get go and doesn’t relent for one moment until the end of the book and the HEA epilogue. If that’s your style and you like standalone books, I would say definitely give this book a try! I’m glad I persevered and didn’t get put off by my initial reservations and enjoyed this for something different. 3.5 solid stars for me.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
I understand that Kara Hart is a new author and for a first book I think she did a good job. I love the action packed stories of the motorcycle clubs along with all the sex, and violence that you would expect for a MC. I thought that her take on this particular MC was different and could have been a GREAT book had she not confused us with parts and didn't have enough details on Adam and the Courage MC. Plus it was hard at times to take a relationship with Adam and Rose serious when he was calling her "kid". Even though the book started out a tad rough and had parts that could have been written better it is still worthy to be read. I am a sucker for star crossed lovers and a happy ending. I recommend this book to mature readers 18 and over because of the violence and sex. I think Kara is on the right track and will make it fine as a writer/author.
Rose is 19 years old and longing to leave her town. Though she tries to be a good daughter for her parents she sometimes failed. She is in the park reading and it is late when she first meets Adam. He takes her on a ride she will never forget. Then she wants more even though he told her should stay away from him. Rose feels a connection to Adam and loves the danger that they run from and into. She feels that there is a connection between the two of them that cannot be broken. Even though Adam is considered damaged and has a price on his head, Rose knows he is her ticket out of her humdrum life. Can she trust him? Who can they both actually trust as everything starts to heat up?
Adam is not a member of the Courage MC anymore, he was tossed out. Now he is on his own and no one to protect him but himself. He still wears the Courage tattoo with pride though. The night he meets Rose he knows he is going to ruin her life, but he can't resist himself. Even though is running from his past and his demons, he knows it is time to face them. Can he face his demons with Rose at his side? Or will Rose turn and run? Can there ever be peace and life for Adam and Rose together?
No spoilers given. ARC free book given for honest review.
I got this book by the author for an honest review and I was so disappointed! http://thesecretworldofbooklovers.blo... I wanted to love this book, it was supposedly an MC Romance novel and I love those. That’s the reason I got it in the first place, but the book just didn’t do it for me, I stop reading it twice and the second one I almost left it unfinished.
The main characters were a little bit boring for me, Adam was a weird creepy old guy in my mind he treated Rose in a way nobody wants to be treated, he never told her anything and she still “fell in love” with him…
Yeah… she was some little girl who didn’t understand what she was getting into and fell in love with this old guy so fast it wasn’t even fun.
I just couldn’t relate with either of them, maybe if I was younger I would understand why a young woman would want to run away with some old creepy drug dealer and biker, leaving her family behind.
The thing is, I could love a plot like that but there just wasn’t any chemistry between the characters, no sparks and connection falling from the pages, I got bored and creeped out.
The author’s writing is really good, I think the plot just needs some more work, the ending was a bit better than the rest of the book but it didn’t make up for days of dragging through the story.
I received this for a honest review. I read a lot of MC book and found that some do not portray how hard and dangerous a biker can be. I think this author did a great job portraying what a MC can be like. It truly took me a good while to warm up to Adam. I actually did not like him very much until the end of the book.
Adam is a true criminal. He has been raised in the MC. The MC is his life. There is death, drugs, and a lot more criminal active that he has been a part of. He is not saint by a long shot. Adam had his eyes on Rose for a while. There was just something about her that made him want her.
Rose was a good girl. Her parents were truly proud of her. Her life is getting ready to chance. Rose craves the danger and the excitement that goes along with all the danger. She likes that Adam is giving her some attention and giving her some excitement. She is tired of being the bad girl.
Adam and Rose will find they are in some serious danger. They are on the run and Rose parents are not going to give up so early. The FBI is after them along with the MC after them. They can only rely on themselves to get out of the mess they find themselves in. They will feel betrayal, love, and passion. Can Adam and Rose get out of this awful mess? Will they get the happy ever after they so long for?
This was a free copy given for an honest review. This is full on from the first chapter, lots going on from bad guys to assumed kidnap. The two main characters are fleeing from pretty much everyone else in this story, no one can be trusted and at times they almost don't trust each other either. As for the romance, well its certainly a romance on the run. Don't expect flowers and wine filled dinners, more like finding time for a quickie between attacks and explosions. There's definitely no time to get bored in reading, it is fast paced action all the way through. A great idea with sparks, bullets, bikes, betrayal, explosions and love a plenty. There's very little softness, no beds either just roughing it while trying to stay alive. I enjoyed this book, I'm thankful to get a chance with a brand new author and her first book. I sat reading with my heart in my mouth at times, thinking my god they wont get out of this in one piece. There's violence and bad language. Car, bike chases, hold ups and so much more. Well worth reading. Thankyou Kara Hart for contacting me and giving me a chance to read and review, I loved it all the edginess keeps you on the point of screaming at the characters at times, simply because you can guess at what is going to happen next.
I usually like the books by this author, and I almost always finish reading a book, but I could not finish this one. It could have been if written right. The story itself had merit, but the book was actually awful. Rose's dialogue was absurd. Everything was just weird and didn't make sense.
What a book! Rose is a girl who is 19 and she runs away from home to join the life of a convict who is on the Run. At first she thinks it's very exciting and then she quickly finds out that it really isn't the life for her. Her and Adam get into trouble but the thing is Adam knew exactly what she was getting into. Throughout the three months there's a lot of drama, and a lot of betrayal even from people that you've known practically your whole life. This book teaches a lot. The phrase 'the grass isn't always greener on the other side' really comes to mind in this book. You see, Rose was a very smart good girls and well she got tired of living the life of always doing what mommy and daddy says. The only thing I didn't like about this book is there was a lot of yelling there was really no more talking it was either yelling or whispering some understood by others I don't know. And some parts you can also tell that Rose is 19 by the way she acts. Would I reread this book? Probably so. Would I recommend this book? Most definitely. If you love a good MC book or a book that has a lot of drama and I'm very hot motorcycle guy. I received this book for my honest review.
* Received this as an ARC for my honest review *** This is not your typical bad boy MC yes it has the usual suspects drugs, money, and women. But all that aside it was a great read I really enjoyed reading it. When Rose met Adam that night in the park wanting an adventure she didn't expect all that she went through with Adam but in the end she wouldn't change anything about what they went through to get to where they are now. Adam wanted out of the business he grew up in and the only way out was with Rose by his side and that's when the scary stuff happened. They had to go through fire and everything else they had stumbling blocks in the way as well and one unsuspecting character you wanna know who it is then you need to buy your copy and read for yourself. I wasn't used to reading this type of MC book where this one took you straight into the fire it was as intense as all the other MC books that I have read in the past but I wouldn't change that it was just as good if not better to me.
Ok, so I understand Kara Hart is a new author and well done on her first book.
It was a MC book, however in parts it was quite confusing to follow and the story didn't always flow. The premise of the whole story was good with MC, FBI and some twists in what was an action packed story.
Rose was looking to be a free spirit, but just to leave with a complete stranger the way she did, it could have been done better. Rose was strong in some ways, yet still naive in others. It was such a huge leap from a book reading good girl only to become such a criminal outlaw.
Adam was bad boy,an ex MC member, trying to find a new better life, but when his past won't let him do it he has no choice in fighting for what he wants and he doesn't mind how he does it.
Their relationship at times didn't seem right,it developed too quickly without enough details, especially from Adam's perspective.
At times the story lacked details in some departments, there wasn't enough details about Adam and MC's past. Some parts could have been written better, with more detailed descriptions.
I had a hard time getting through this book. It didn't really ease into the story line with much of a background on the characters. I was confused and thought there was a book I was supposed to have read prior to beginning this one. The romance didn't seem real. It developed too fast and was significantly unbelievable/creepy from the start. A guy who's 15-20 years older than you, who has been watching and collecting data on you? Had I been in Rose's position, I would have most likely called law enforcement, and reported stalking. I'd say there was more action than romance anyways. It became repetitive. They'd make a breakaway, get caught, and discover a new person had betrayed them. It could be annoying at times, but it kept the pages turning. I just don't think it was believable that a 19 year old with no experience in the MC world would be pulling all that she did off. That was probably the biggest turn off for the book. I'd maybe eventually consider reading more of this author's work, but it's nothing I would jump right into.
~~~I received an ARC of Burnt by Kara Hart for an honest review!~~~
This is the first book by Kara Hart and with that said, I want to say I thought it had a good story line. I had a hard time following the relationship between Adam and Rose in the beginning. It just seemed like they met and were running off together, and not enough was developed for my liking.
Burnt is an action packed romance story of Rose and Adam, told solely from Rose’s point of view. She is a nineteen year old good girl keen for adventure and he is a troubled older guy who gives her an adventure to remember. Personally, I would have liked to have seen some scenes from Adam’s point of view, just to have added an extra dimension to the book and get a better understanding of his character because I didn’t feel like I fully understood him at times.
Wow this is a book filled with lots of turns and twists that will have you up all night just so you can find out what happens next. To me this is a modern day Bonnie & Clyde story with some twists. Rose gets swept off her feet by the sexy Adam who is sort of made me mad about his lies at first but he didn't ever go back on any of his promises to Rose so by the end of the book I was loving him. It took me awhile to love Rose though I realize she was young & yes Adam did tell some major lies at first but they way she was quick to cry & throw a tantrum had me wanting to yell at her but as the story went on she sort of I guess you could say grew up & turned out to be a loyal badass girl for Adam. I loved the plot of this book it wasn't your normal biker book which was a great change of pace. I was floored by some of the twists this book took at the end & was truly blindsided... I would totally read more from this author in the future & I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Burnt is definitely a fast paced book with a lot of action. Rose wants to escape her boring life and find some excitement and adventure. When she meets Adam she knows she can’t be without him but she doesn’t expect to end up on the run facing things she never could of dreamed of.
Adam has been on his own for a while until he meets Rose he knows he should stay well away from her but he can’t help himself. He soon finds himself in a world of trouble and the person behind it turns out to be the last person he expected.
I enjoyed the story and the plot kept my interest throughout but I found it was a little bit too rushed for my liking and I felt I didn’t know that much about the characters. Find more reviews at http://lostinsweetwords.wordpress.com
Think Bonnie and Clyde but with bikers. Adam the tough biker ex-gang member is trying to go legit and leave the life behind. Riding through town he sees Rose, sitting there reading a book late at night. I’ve read insta love before and it didn’t quite work for me. I needed more time with them getting to know each other and not just after one night.
Rose grew up in this small town and is looking for any reason to have a life and she sees that is Adam. Rose need to woman up and stop all that crying if she wanted to with a man like Adam but it worked for him so who am I to complain about that.
Overall, it was okay for me. Really quick read and I always enjoyed a book about hot bikers.
A bad boy who wants to change his life for good, a girl who for all intents and purposes will help him do so, and past that comes back to haunt them just may kill them too. Adam has had enough of the MC or what's left of it. He has his own underground business he runs besides doing other things on the side. Then he finds her and asks her out. To see if she is up to some fun. Will she go with him and live the free life? Rose is your typical girl next door type. Always pleasing the parents. Till she stays a little past her time and runs into him. When he asks her if she's up to some fun... Will she say yes and go or will she say no and head home to be the darling daughter her parents think she is?
Rose wakes up in a room full of candles, how did she get there? Where is Adam? Who is Adam? Those are all the questions that will be answered. After finishing her shift at her fathers shop Rose like to go to the local park and read under the lights. She knew she shouldn't stay so late but she got lost in her book, when all of the sudden she sees a shadow looming over her. She looks up and sees the most handsome man she has ever seen. Adam asks Rose what she is doing out so late but Rose tries to shake him off but he isn't having any of that so he turns on the charm. After a little while of talking Rose agrees to meet him the next night. Will Rose really go to meet someone she knows nothing about?
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book.
I liked the story once I understand what was going on but I did not adore the main protagonists. They were too shallow in my opinion. Not to mention they had this instalove going on. Pfft. Despite all that, this series has so much potential. If only the hero had a brooding and mysterious character this would be a very gripping read. Anyway, it took me awhile to really get into the story but the minute I did, it was hard to put down. I enjoyed myself and I am actually looking forward to the next book.
** Copy kindly provided by the author for an honest review and Thank You **
This debut from Kara Hart contains all the things I love about reading MC books and I wished that it was 'gelled' into what it could have the potential to become. In my opinion, I found the beginning of the story scattered and disorganized but near the last third it was smoother to read. Great characters: Adam being the MC Alpha, Rose the leading lady - naive and strong at the same time, and your list of unsavory characters who fit the bill nicely. There were some twists that made this story interesting. I look forward to seeing how this author develops the story and her writing.
Loved this book. It has sass, drama, hot lovin, and so much more. The storyline was delightfully so much more than I anticipated, and I had high hopes for this one. I was not disappointed at all!! Adam and Rose had an explosive relationship that packed so much heat, I almost could not cope with the excitement. Every page I turned uncovered yet another dynamic to this story. The characters were everything I love and totally blew my mind. There was certainly never a dull moment for these 2, and I am just so glad to have had the privilege of reading this authors work. Cannot wait to read more from her.
Although I enjoyed this read, especially towards the middle and end I gave this 3 stars because I think there are things that could be improved and elaborated on. The beginning where they meet is so abrupt. I've read many insta love books but this one was to insta for me. It made it hard for me to get into the book for a while and question if I wanted to finish. I'm glad I did because I grew to enjoy the characters more and get into the story more.
This was a decent read and if you like MCs I think you may like it. Give it a chance you may be surprised. I do look forward to reading more by Kara and seeing her skills improve.
This had a pretty good story line going for it. It was intense right off the bat but then the story just seemed to have too much going on. I was getting a bit confused and just felt like the story was going round and round. Yes, there is a ton of action in the story. Adam just wants out of the life and you learn the story piece by piece. I wasn't a fan of the insta love/lust in this one for some reason, but I can't put my finger on why.
For a first book, the story line was good. It was action packed.
