This time Charles Big daddy Sinatra has really pissed someone off so much so they're going after his little girl Carly! Most of the inhabitants of Jericho , Maine hates big daddy's guts. Frankly he doesn't give a sh*t. Just as long as you pay him his rent on time. And stay out of his damn way. And of course not mess with his family! If you mess with him or his family all bets are off he's going to take you down! So when all evidence points to Carly's serious former boss as the person trying to possibly hurt Carly It's about to be on like popcorn her family rallies around her. With big daddy and his brother Mick the tick leading the charge. I definitely recommend this book to you!!
***Spoiler Alert***No doubt Mallory is a hard hitting author and this book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. I have to say that I do not like stories with sexual abuse themes especially child abuse they are very very hard for me to read and yet when I start reading what I want is revenge for the victims excruciating, massacre kind of revenge then at least I feel satisfied and so I keep reading hoping for this kind of ending but the way the author handled Carly's abuse was cavalier at best and cruel at worst going as far as to say this I kid you not this is taken from the book *****when it first started. She was nine. It all started just after Jenay and her father divorced. By the time she was thirteen, she was an old pro**** that kind of description just did not sit well with me it was very insensitive. I felt the author should have had more compassion for Carly.
Second there is also the fact that Carly and her love interest's characters are not well developed they lack depth so much so that I cannot recall Carly's man's name.
Third this story is supposed to be about Carly but there is too much attention paid to Big Daddy and so Carly story gets very limited airtime. I would loved to see more of her story it's what excited me and got me to want to read it in the first place.
I will say one thing it is a page turner. You probably won't be able to put it down.
I'm loving this series and "Big Daddy Sinatra 4: Carly's Cry" is well worth a read!
If you like romantic suspense with many eye-popping twists and turns, this is the series for ya'. However, I highly recommend that you read this book in order because it is not a standalone and even I'm learning this because Brent has married Makayla and has a son so maybe I was supposed to read Brent's story before book 4 in the Sinatra series.
Michello aka Mick the Tick, Charles' baby brother is in this tale to help Carly after she killed Ethan, a powerhouse client who tried to rape her at the being of the story. The story moves swiftly with even the oldest son driving down to Boston helping Charles and Jenay in "Carly's Cry." Carly had major demons inflicted on her by her so-called loving father, Quince and other men when she was just a young child of nine or so. It was a shocker to read but rightfully reveals why Carly is somewhat of a loner or comes off as distant at times even in book 3!
Just remember it's all about family with the Sinatra clan with Jenay as Charles' advisor and their children supporting Big Daddy Sinatra all the way! Tony is still analytical, Brent the leader when needs be... Robert's the town's flirt still, Donnie and Ashley just too immature together or apart and youngest and sweetest child Bonita is Daddy's little girl and acts like Jenay a lot. But with Carly her mask hides all her secret until Trevor Reese calls her out... I really enjoyed their connection even though Charles, Jenay or Mick don't really trusted him. They think Trevor is a mobster or FBI... but because I read Trevor Reese's story just know he is so much more!
This story ended in a way that there will be a new mayor by the name of Cruikshank running the town and it seems like Brent will quit his job as Chief of Police and start working with his father (Charles always wanted that anyway) along with his wife MaKayla, who was the DA. This will only bring the Sinatra clan closer and keep this series going on I hope.
Hope Tony, the second oldest son gets a story with the headmistress, Sharon Flannigan! That should be interesting since he can people so well along with Sharon!
I love Mallory's books, but this one is a miss. The typos and mistakes (even mixing up names) are blaring and the story was truly hit or miss. I'm not sure if the wrong version was uploaded or what, but this book needs work. And seriously, I thought this book was about Carly. She and Trevor were barely given a few chapters and no chance at character development. I'm hoping this is just an introduction and Carly and Trevor get more time in the next book.
Ok Seriously!!!!!!! Lawd this pulled my damn heartstrings apart, my heart broke for Carly, just absolutely broke for her.
Carly Sinatra, the brainy daughter, never gets into trouble daughter, the good daughter, the obedient daughter, the loving and daddy's girl daughter. Has a tragic and ugly past that is realistic for the many victims who have suffered the way she has. Carly Sinatra is a high profile PR woman, she is a force like no other, she is a quiet but deadly and whether she likes the client or not, she has a job to do and does it with precision. But what happens when one of the clients she helps to get off, attacks her???? In order to survive and the trauma of her past comes blazing to the forefront, she kills him dead. And then she calls the man, who will always be there for her no matter what, she calls her daddy, Big Daddy Sinatra and he comes running for his baby girl. But even this proves to be to big for even Big Daddy to handle, so he calls in his baby brother, Mick the Tick and we all know that he doesn't play any games and he handles everything.
Carly is back in Jericho with her family, even takes a job as a school teacher but she is suffering and dying inside, Charles knows it, Jenay knows it and Uncle Mick too but Carly isn't talking. So they wait and pray that Carly will come around and tell them what is going on. In the meantime, they are working to make sure that what Carly did never comes into the light. Then her former boss comes around Trevor Ross, to check on her who happens to be the only man Carly ever looked at but always kept it professional. Little did Carly know that Trevor has it bad for her. But Trevor is proving to be more than meets the eye. What is Trevor's deal? And what does he come from?
Carly is arrested for the murder and taken back to Boston, as Charles, Jenay, Brent Mackayla, Mick work frantically to get her out, In walks Trevor and not only secures her release but gets all charges dropped against her. Now when you look at the Gabrinis and the Sinatras we all know their arms are far reaching globally but it seems that Trevor's arm may reach a whole lot further. So now they are trying to figure out who Trevor is and intel has been given to Mick about Trevor but Carly doesn't care, Carly sees Trevor as the one man who has the power to set her free from her invisible prison, so she does what any person who is in love will do, they go against the wishes and warnings to be with the person. Trevor for once in his life, sees a hope in Carly that he didn't know existed but his private secrets may get Carly or even himself killed.
Also on the same front if this new mayor is elected, the Sinatras are gearing up for a fight against him because he has this vendetta to take the Sinatras out. If this mayor is elected, he has no idea the power that stands besides Charles in the names of Mick the Tick, Reno Gabrini, Sal and Tommy Gabrini. And when you have that, no enemy will or is safe, when you come against family, you come against them all in their eyes.
It was great seeing the Sinatras of Jericho again and catching up with the siblings. Donald and Ashley are still a mess LOLL!!! Brent, Tony and Robert are still there to keep those two in line and then there is little Bonita who is pulling up the rear. Author Mallory Monroe has dropped another amazing story for her fans to enjoy but also left us wondering where this is going to go next.
I liked it fine... but it kind of felt like half a book as if it was all setting up for other stories instead of Carly's Cry being its own story in the 'Big Daddy' series. I'm assuming that Carly and Trevor are on the cover for this book but their relationship mostly occurs in the last third of the book and much of their bonding is also glossed over. If Ms. Monroe is looking to make them a spotlight couple, which I assume given Trevor's mysterious life and Carly's reactions to him, then she needs to show them bonding in detail for the reader, not glossing over it with "they spoke on the phone almost daily" but the reader sees none of it.
The stuff with Big Daddy, Jenay, and the protests seemed like set up for their next story ... and possibly Brent & Makayla's next story... but it also seemed rushed and very vague overall.
Not her best book (though still better than "Romancing Her Protector") as there were two different stories going on that weren't meshed well and all of it seemed like setting up other books rather than it being a book with its own stories to appreciate.
I am woman..h e a r me r o a r....sweet Carly..the sweeter adopted daughter...always good...straight A's....strait laced...good girl...living to please everyone but inside her soul is dying..from the terrible secrets and trauma she suffered at the hands of her own biological father...but this story is also about the Sinatra clan..fighting to be a strong formidable force...terrible treachery is at hand and once again Mick the Tick steps in..way in...he has to protect his family..no matter what...but the night in shining armour could be Trevor...the mystery man and Carly's boss..there's more than meets the eye....secrets needs to be revealed...Carly and Trevor is next up I am hoping...
Carey's cry was a fantastic read. Ms.Monroe gave us new storylines with various twists. This story is filled with cloak and dagger mysteries that I'm not sure was solved but I loved the ending just the same. I love series and Mallory writes for fans of series. So if you do not like cliffhangers or waiting on the next release then don't get started. But if you would rather read an ongoing saga vs watching then I recommend this book and author to you.
That was the best one yet! Mick and Charles are awesome, you better not come after there family. I love the way they love and take care of the family, know matter what the problem is. I know there's a story with Mr Trevor Reeves,I just hope it doesn't hurt Carly. I have read lot of books, some are good and some not as good. I just wish some of these authors should read some of Ms. Monroe books and learn how to write a great book and than you could get paid and we as reader wouldn't feel cheated.
I know she did not end that book like that???? This was a good read, this time around she wrote it as a mystery at least that's what I got from it. I can't wait to see what's next. Like really who is Trevor? Will his plans change now that Carly is involved? Who was after the Sinatra's? With all of the who's, when and what's I can't wait for the rest of the story to unfold.
I am a fan of Mallory's books. They always keep me on the edge, and I always have to read them nonstop.
*****SPOILER*****
This book was a cliffhanger of some sort. It left me wondering what Trevor was up to? And is Sharon really spying on the Sinatra's by pretending not to be? I can't wait until the next book to find out. I'm glad Carly found the strength to share her story, I just hope Trevor is the right person for her.
Loved the beginning with suspense at the start, I am sitting on the edge of my seat. I love that Tony may have found a love interest along with Carly. I was cheering for Trevor all along. I don't like that there still so many unanswered questions. But going to stay tuned for more.
I wanted to love this book but I just like it. I don't feel like we got enough information on Trevor. How could you have them fall in love but not tell is who he really is? I'm shocked Big Daddy and Uncle Mick allowed this to happen. I hope to read more from this couple because I feel it could be a beautiful love story. More Carly & Trevor!
An Exciting Suspenseful Interracial Romantic Thriller
Big Daddy Sinatra: Carey's Cry is an exciting suspenseful Interracial romantic thriller that earned a rating of five stars. This book is just as good as the other books in the series. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading very good romantic thrillers.
I think this is one of the best books in this series. I couldn't put it down. I almost called out of work just to finish it. I can't wait to read more about Carley and Trent and the battle to save the Sinatra's
I'm all for cliffhangers, but this story line was way over the top. A good story but there were soooo many unanswered questions for me. I'm hoping we get some answers in the next book. All in all...still a good read!
Love love the Sinatras side of the family and looking forward to more of Trevor and carly's story. I will always buy any of Mallory's books without even reading a word first.
This was my least favorite book in the series. I didn't really feel Carly and Trevor much; a lot of questions left unanswered and nothing was really resolve. Don't get me wrong, I love the Sinatra's clan but this was a let down...didn't enjoy it at all.
This was another great read for me. I read Big Daddy Sinatra: Papa Don't Play first and then read this book next. So Carly's loose ends was tied up that book.
Not really into this one, seemed like a Mick story than a Carly story. Nothing was resolved in the end and all it brought to the story was what seems to be a new character with Trevor. I can’t see him letting the family slide with what they did and he comes off as having an ulterior motive for wanting to be with her. Plus the “children” are still behaving as such and don’t seem to be growing at all.
Hopefully, the next one will shed some light on what’s going on and we’ll see some growth in the characters but after following along with the author I doubt it. She has a habit of not addressing anything in the other stories and tends to let situations just fall away without putting them to rest. This is probably the third book after the shooting at Tommy’s wedding and nothing is mentioned nor is the timeframe of when it took place mentioned. So I doubt we’ll get any info on Trevor in anything that comes out next.
Talk about throwing curve ball after curve ball! This story started off quite intensely! Especially all of the stuff with Carly, her story and pay was surprising and sad! (I wanted them to dig up here dead dad and shread him to pieces) Also, what's all of the mystery with Trevor & why is he going to war with Mick? And, who is behind the plot to take down the Sinatra family??? This is the first one that I classify as a cliffhanger and I don't like cliffhangers!!! 🤨
Once again Ms Monroe has penned another excellent gripping read. The twists and turns had me gripped reading eagerly to discover what happens. The issue covered with this particular story line had me very angry indeed. Certainly one or two necks I would have rung for Carly quite happily.
Poor Carly. No spoilers here but her story is so heart wrenching. And wth is going on with that crazy a ** town now? Would give a 5 except for the editing errors.
This story was slow, but was good. Carly never told her beloved parents what happened to her, There really children who suffer through that and don't have anyone to talk to about there trauma.
This book was added to Goodreads on October 30, 2017. I first read this book in February of 2016 and finished re-reading it today. I'm rereading the Trevor Reese series. My first review of this book stands stands.
Don't underestimate Ms. Monroe. No, this did not appear to be one of Ms. Monroe's best works. Sure, there were too many unresolved issues. I think she knows that and it's deliberate. More stories about the Sinatras are coming with new characters already introduced. At, least I hope there are, for this book left me wanting more of the Sinatras, as well as, Carly and Trevor Reese. *Spoiler Alert* Remember, Trevor has a war with Mick coming up and soon. Probably, the time will be moved up because two men, Mick and Charles, broke through all of his elaborate defenses. They killed all of his men and shot him and took the woman he loved, even though he didn't realize it until he was shot. He didn't even know who took her until she told him that she was safe - that she was with her father. Two men did this. Hmmm. *End of Spoiler Alert*. Charles is every bit as tough as Mick with more compassion. Don't be deceived, Mick has compassion also. Remember he was raised by Charles who is as gansta as he wants to be. The unresolved issues didn't bother me as much as the fact that Mick was given false information and acted on it too many times. I saw at least two more Sinatra books because of this one. I'm sad because I already really like Trevor Reese. Carly will be his ride or die without going against her family. My one real complaint is that the book was too short. People, don't worry, there's more coming. Hmmm, I can't wait.
