Enough is the best realistic fiction book I have ever read. It’s written by Mary J. Payne. I could relate to this book a lot because it's full of drama, horror and emotion. I love this book; Lizzy the main character is full of potential and braveness as well.
To start off, Lizzy is a high schooler with so many thoughts and dreams ahead. She lives with her alcoholic mom, Charlie, and Dean. Dean is her step dad who is also alcoholic and abusive. One day Lizzy got back from school and owed Dean mo

This book relates to me in so many ways! I am so glad to finally read a book from the city I reside, especially since I've been to all the places mentioned in the story! The Irish Spring soap really stood out and made me laugh because I was raised to hand-wash! Amazing book! Great job Mrs. Payne! I guess what I learned is that there are different ways to make a statement and to get help. I also learned that you should always see the bright side of things and know the people who show you love. Lizzie's dad died unexpectedly four years ago. Since then her mom has found comfort in alcohol, leaving Lizzie to take care of her younger brother Charlie and their dog Trixie. Then mom starts dating a guy who is really bad news and Lizzie does whatever she can to protect Charlie. However, things go terribly wrong and Lizzie needs to make some really difficult choices in order to save herself.
Sexual abuse, alcohol, and domestic violence should steer this hi-lo book towards high school students.
