Riley and DaShawn have been friends for a very long time and part of this includes their shared love of skateboarding. They are trying to create videos to find sponsors and decide to try out a new location. However, things go terribly wrong (as is often the case) and now their friendship and more is at stake.
Good hi-lo read with themes relating to race and prejudice.

I am typically not a fan of this format when it comes to tackling serious issues, but I was pleasantly surprised at how compelling this story was. When a group of friends decides to shoot skateboarding videos at the site of a brand-new building, the police arrive and the trio is forced to split up. Two of them make it to the checkpoint, but one does not. The next day, Riley learns that his best friend Dasahwn was caught by the police and beaten simply for being black. Wow this is something that you could maybe say unbelievable to. But not in this day and age. I feel so bad for Dashawn, that should have never happened.
