Ken Grimwood (1944–2003) worked in broadcast journalism for a number of years before retiring in 1988 to write full-time. He wrote five novels, including the award-winning Replay, Breakthrough, and The Voice Outside.
I came to this book because I like Grimwood's prose and the book delivers there. This book is written like a summer movie thriller. And just like some of those popcorn movies, sometimes the back half feels overblown a bit with what the characters go through. But it still kept the pages turning for me. Fun, if ultimately forgettable.
First half pretty decent. Similar to Into the Deep with the multiple storylines converging. Second half seems like a different story. Maybe Grimwood stepped away for a while and decided to turn the story in a different direction. I did not like part two and found it difficult to push myself to finish. I'd recommend Replay and Into the Deep as Grimwood's better books
