2 "Off Limits" Stars

Across the Hall is a story that used two of my favorite tropes: brother's best friend and fresh out of prison. While there were definitely parts that I enjoyed, overall, I had a difficult time connecting with either character or their relationship.

Jude is not your average parolee. Growing up wealthy and in charge of a fashion network at as a young adult, he's out of prison early after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Now back home and running his empire out of hi

This is the story of Jillian and Jude. I have to confess that this story wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. The blurb was really promising but unfortunately the book didn't deliver. The biggest problem of the book was the writing. I wouldn't like to spoil it for anyone, so I will just say that there were a lot of information that were unnecessary in the plot and the story. The book is written in 3rd person and that

Across The Hall by Kylie Walker was a quick light sweet read that had a bit of intrigue thrown into the mix to give this romance a dramatic effect. When two across the hall neighbors begin to develop feelings for one another, lines will be crossed, secrets will be exposed, and the truth will be revealed.

Jude Falken has been released from prison early after serving his time for involuntary manslaughter. Two years of his life was taken away f

3 stars!!

I first read Kylie Walker a few months ago with her book House of Paine that I really enjoyed and it was the synopsis of this book that drew me in. The potential this book had was for a great story and while the author gave it a great shot it didn’t quite wow me.

Jude Falken was holed up in his new apartment for a month on parole, he had been incarcerated for two years for involuntary manslaughter and had to spend one month under house arrest before he wa

Across the Hall by Kyile Walker was a quick read with a little bit of a romantic curve ball thrown in. This was the first book I've read by this author, and while I overall enjoyed this book, there were times where I thought these twenty-something characters seemed a little immature. And as their feelings get deeper, secrets are exposed and lines are crossed and the truth has a funny way of ALWAYS coming out.

Jude Falken is trying to get his life back after spending two years in prison for involu

This was a quick little read that I enjoyed. Nothing too terribly heavy, but with just enough of an added something so that it wasn't exactly fluffy.

After Jude was released from prison, he moved in across the hall from his college best friend, Ethan. Ethan has a little sister who is just graduating from college named Jillian. Jillian and Jude hit it off and sparks fly between them. There was a huge twist involving a man from Jillian's past that I never saw coming.

So why only 3 stars? There were

I have struggled with this book for days, but since I am not connecting with any of the characters, I decided to DNF. It had potential but it fell flat for me...

This was hot, sexy and sweet!

Kylie has done it again, completely melted the pages of my Kindle with this scorcher! I enjoyed this story, it was a short, hot read that had some intense smoldering scenes.

Jude has been released from prison and since he still owns his fashion empire, he can afford a luxurious apartment, across the hall from his best friend. He’s meant to stay in his apartment, and the building itself for a month before he can venture out into the real world. That can’t be so bad, ca

Whenever I sit down to write a review, I try to find at least one good thing about the book, even if my overall feelings toward it weren't all that great. In the case of Across the Hall, an erotic romance from Kylie Walker that employs the falling-for-a-sibling's-best-friend trope, I'm at a bit of a loss because it wasn't a terrible book, but I wouldn't call it a great one either. My feelings are bordering on ambivalent at the moment and a lot of it has to do with my lack of connection with any ...more

This book was definitely a 5 star! From love triangles to crime plotting, this book was filled with twists and turns! I absolutely love Jude! He came with plenty of secrets, along with the fact that he was forbidden from even thinking about Jillian by his best friend aka her brother, but the way he cared about Jillian showed he was a definite keeper! Jillian had a past of her own, and when it crept back into her life, you knew things were about to get good! As you probably can guess based on the ...more

Good story, bad editing

I really enjoyed the story but dear god the editing is atrocious!! There are problems with the story contradicting itself, sometimes within ten pages. But the most awful thing is the uses of tenses...the constant changing in tense and the improper use of tense. You're never quite sure of the narration either...is it first person, third person? I had serious doubts as I was reading as to whether the author was a native speaker of English. It is so bad it takes you right out

Light fun read

This was a light fun read. The reason I gave three stars is there were 2-3 spots were it stated something that happened and how it happened and then a few chapters later the other character learns about it yet it's told completely different. Frustrating!

Likes the premise of this story. There was some backstory to the characters, but not much. I would have loved to know more about Dax. His story was a little sparse.

Across the Hall certainly had me blazing through the pages! This book was as hot, hot, hot and oh my word....can you say panty melting. My first read by Kylie Warren and geez do I need to read more.

Jillian Warren has just returned home from a year of school and an internship in Paris. After a failed romance and heartbroken the last thing she is looking for is romance. Just happy to be home with her brother, Ethan, and forget the mess she left behind in Paris.

Jude Falken, has just moved in acros

Love Jude. I loved how he helped his mom all those years ago, accepted his fate and did what he had to so he could go on. He is on house arrest but still living, working and finding love. He was a great character. He didn’t let his past weigh him down but it buoyed him and he got stronger for it. Having his mentor be what he became though was hard to watch. That guy went from a man that he looked up to and learned from to bleh and just a not nice guy.

Jillian was a work in progress at the beginni

This is an incredibly well written and touching love story that has everything you could want in a great romance and then some! Every emotion is covered here and heart strings will be tugged on so be prepared to shed a tear or two while reading this. I fell in love with Jude and Jillian from the second they were introduced and wanted for them to be together so badly. Jillian’s overprotective brother didn’t want for her to go anywhere near his old friend and former college buddy Jude and made thi ...more

Across The Hall by Kylie Walker is a story about Jude Falken trying to rebuild his life after going to prison for killing the man beating on his mother. He was barely out of his teens when this happened so he got charged and pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter, spent 2 years behind bars , got out early on good behavior and is trying to piece his life back together.

This book was free on Amazon so I thought I would give this author a try. I loved the first half of the book. The pace and build up was great however the second half just fell flat and lost something. The Heroine seemed too unaffected by the revealing events making her look spineless. She turns into a secondary character in my opinion.

Jillian comes home from Paris after college and a summer internship in the fashion industry. She is brokenhearted from a failed romance. She lives with her brothe

This was a DNF for me. I couldn't get connected to the characters. There was too much random information like what they are eating and what everyone was wearing rather than any focus on a plot. Also, the story changed tense a few times which was confusing. The story line sounded good but the writer took too long to get there.

Across the Hall seemed to have elements that I like in a romance. You know, rich bad boy, little sister of best friend and sparks that can't be ignored. I really wanted to like this more than I did. Don't get me wrong, there were things that I did enjoy about the book. I really liked Jude and Jillian. They were interesting characters and I thought their chemistry came across as real and definitely steamy! Their romance was a bit fast for my taste, but I liked their HEA. I also thought the little ...more

I toggle between liked and really liked with this book. It was definitely a quick and easy read.

The premise of the story was ok for me. I like the brother's best friend stories but really-these two were good friends in college and stuff but I am not sure I would say they were "BFF's"

Kylie Walker combines the brothers best friend and just of jail troupes to give the reader a story with so much sexual tension, it’s ready to explode.

Jude is putting the pieces of his life back together after spending two years locked up. Not your regular convict. Coming from wealth and running his company from the slammer, Jude is an intensely loyal man, smart and oh so hot. He’s more of a man the cover he presents shows him to be.

Across The Hall by Kylie Walker was my first book by her and I can appreciate her writing style. Coming across the storyline, I swooned because it was the classic bad boy but it wasn't like he wanted to be that and let it rule his life.

Jude Faulken makes you fan yourself in more ways than one. However, when I first read his name... Yeah... I sung The Beatles out loud. Am I ashamed? No, not really. HEY JUDEEEEEEEE. Okay. I swear, I am done. He definitely made it onto my book boyfriends list becau

Once again, author Kylie Walker has written a romantic hero whose heart and heat could melt even the frostiest of souls (see my review of House of Paine for more deliciousness). Unfortunately, I found the female lead to be slightly undeserving of the delectable Jude's devotion. The fault, of course, is entirely my own. Kylie Walker has such a deft hand at creating such yummy male protagonists, I don't think any woman is worthy – that is until technology exists that will transport me directly int ...more

The synopsis had me jumping right into this book. I mean a bad boy and falling for your best friend's little sister are some of the best tropes out there, but for me I just did not connect with the characters. It was a quick, easy read, but I kept finding my mind wandering back to another book.

Jude was an ex con, but not the typical ex con. He was very rich and in charge of his family's business. While Jillian just graduated with a dual degree and spent the summer interning in Paris. I really l
