The illustrations are well paired to the very simplistic text, but I didn't care for the misbehavior by the dog, Rags, and by a couple of kid goats. I can't see a family of real farmers tolerating the disruption, and destruction, and just generally accepting the waste of time. The parents talk about getting rid of the dog, but in the end she's still there.
Children who are dog-lovers might find this book enjoyable
