PLEASE FAST FORWARD!

When an alarm goes off in Josh’s underwater lair, Finn and Jake discover an old timey recording with... instructions. Too bad they don’t have the patience to listen all the way through — otherwise they would have heard the part about... their new sister?! It’s memories versus curses as our two best pals do what they do best: break statues and cause a ru

The first story in this volume was incomprehensible, but the second was a rather bittersweet speculative fiction trope that worked well in this case. Finn and Jake have a sister that they do not remember, but her existence is couched in rather dangerous secrets... Great art, fun storyline - this is one of the stronger AT comics I have read, save for the weird introductory story...

This volume is a little more adventurous, with the first story playing with the confines of the comic in a creative way (that unfortunately lost a lot due to the manner of my reading the comic, but that's on me, not the book), and having lots of fun with dungeons and time. The rest focuses on Gata, a story that strays near previous Adventure Time plots (a suddenly remembered character who has supposedly always been there), but does things differently enough, and with just the right dash of emoti ...more

I this this may be the first volume of Adventure Time I've read since Ryan North stopped writing it. I've read a bunch of the side volumes (Pixel Princesses, etc etc) and not been too excited about them. I think Christopher Hastings did a nice job with this one. The characters felt pretty "on" and there were some clever stories. The artwork was solidly good. I'd read another volume by this team.

Alright, but I'm glad they're getting rid of this writer. He's no Ryan North.

Thank goodness the light green text at the bottom of the pages wasn't in this book. I found the plot and overall story of this volume to be enjoyable and cute.. kinda sad. I'm again, super thankful that they left out with the light green 'witty' text at the bottom as it was mostly annoying to read and really didn't add anything to the book or the story.

The first issue is a neat enough little piece of timey-wimeyness, though there's a Slott/Allred Silver Surfer issue which did it better. The rest is a sweet but fairly pointless self-cancelling retcon. I think I just miss Ryan North, and not only because there are no footnotes anymore.
