Kissing handsome Harper Bay to avoid a confrontation with her past isn’t on Amber Cross’s to-do list, but sometimes a situation calls for desperate measures. She doesn’t expect the kiss to leave her breathless.
Amber is the hottest thing walking but clearly not Harper’s type. He’s not looking for a platinum-blond manicurist from the city. After her surprising kiss leaves him panting, he changes his mind and decides to get to know her. Chemistry sizzles between them, but this gorgeous woman has a past that could get them both killed.
#1 New York Times, #1 USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Helen Hardt's passion for the written word began with the books her mother read to her at bedtime. She wrote her first story at age six and hasn’t stopped since. In addition to being an award winning author of contemporary and historical romance and erotica, she’s a mother, an attorney, a black belt in Taekwondo, a grammar geek, an appreciator of fine red wine, and a lover of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. She writes from her home in Colorado, where she lives with her family.
Treasuring Amber is the first book I've read by Helen Hardt. It's number 5 in The Temptation Saga, but can easily be read as a standalone.
This story moves very quickly for the majority of the book, from the attraction between Amber and Harper, to the problems Amber has when her past comes back to threaten her. Harper didn't always think the best of Amber, he definitely needed to grovel for forgiveness a lot more than he did! I liked the story, found myself flicking through it a little towards the end though.
I'm not sure this series is going in the right direction for me. With everyone I read, I'm actually asking myself why I'm still reading these. This whole series has been over-the-top instant love. Like we say I love you within a week of meeting each other. Sometimes it's okay, but do we need to have it with every single book?!?!?!?!? The stories all seem to mirror each other as well. You can predict who will be together, the issue, the rescue/help, then they fall madly in love with each other and are asking for their hand in marriage after a week. I'm not sure I have two more books in me.
I really liked Amber and how she overcame everything thrown in her path. When she finally opens herself up to a man, Harper throws it in her face. He thinks she's lying and definitely not his type.
Once Harper figures out that Harper didn't lie, he knew he had messed up. He couldn't get her out of his head. I loved the secondary characters in this book that told the hero and heroine exactly how they felt. Everyone needs friends like those!
Have to say this is my favorite of the the series so far. Amber has had a rough htime of it but she is strong and overcame a lot. Ever since moving to Bakersville she has found a life to be proud of, that is until her past catches up to her. Harper seems to ride into situations like a knight on a white horse but is he trying to save Amber because he likes to rescues damsels in distress or is because he has found his one.
I received a free copy of this book through my book club for an honest review. I actually really liked this book. Amber was great, a very strong character. Harper was okay. He had his moments where he was all right. Pretty dramatic for being a man's man. Really loved the side story with Amber's father.
I liked the way this one played out for the most part. Not my favorite trope, but I am in for the long haul with this series, since there are only 2 more books after this one. Harper and Amber were electric with their physical chemistry. The lack of trust on Harper's part was the hardest part for me.
Amber Cross has overcome a ton to get where she is now. And kissing sexy Harper Bay sure wasn't on the to do list, but sometimes drastic measures for desperate situations is called for. And making sure her past isn't revealed to everyone, definitely qualified. The problem from that kiss became the instant spark she felt, which leads her to seeing more of him. Harper Bay knows that the hot Amber isn't at all his type, but somehow, that gets lost in the powerful attraction he finds he has after she kisses him. So he changes his mind, and starts spending time getting to know her, as the chemistry sizzles. But when her past is revealed, will he help her, or believe the worst of her?
Treasuring Amber is a story that took me a bit to warm up to, but when I did, I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. The character development is very good, with a colorful cast of secondaries that rocked. Harper was a hard man to really fall for, as he was a bit uptight and judgy at times, but Amber is flat out AWESOME! The diabolical twists and turns completely made the story EXPLODE into something that I never saw coming, with my f-bomb dropping moments picking up speed by the end. Their simmering chemistry boiled over into some SMOKIN' sexy scene goodness, that I won't lie, I wanted more of. And Helen Hardt's talented writing style had me physically feeling Amber's emotions like they were my own, and my eyes welled up once or twice. I really enjoy this author's books, so I'm excited to see what she comes out with next. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
harper and amber...wow...her mother had an affair years ago but never told her who her father was..used to work at astrip club after her mother threw her out at 16....moved to this city to get away from it all..blake buchanan recoconises her from strip club doing bad things he needs money and tries to blackmail her harpet investigates but she has lied to him about stuff... they confront her mother who her dad is turns out he is a well known bronco...he is in her life in the end and harper is madly in love with her...again each book is moregreat than the last....
Before I go into my review - I need to note that Treasuring Amber is an interconnected stand alone and I have not read the books that come before in the series. I think some of the factors that influenced the rating I gave the book would have been different had I read the whole series - or even just more of it.
Treasuring Amber is an interesting premise. Amber is a young woman (very early 20's) who has recently moved to town and is creating a life for herself. She's a little brash and might need lessons on how clothes can send an image, but most everyone seems to like her. An impromptu kiss with a friend's brother leads to sparks and a case of insta-lust and the potential for more - maybe.... until a jerk neighbor discovers a past betrayal and everything blows up.
I struggled in connecting to Amber and Harper (her love interest), but I think a part of that goes back to not having read more of the series. I have the feeling that a lot of their character development happened in prior books. I did find myself rooting for Amber - she seems like a girl who has done the best with the hand life dealt and I have to admit to getting angry on her behalf. Harper was a little harder for me to relate too and understand his "feelings" for Amber and believe that they were genuine, so that made the ending of the book a little harder for me to accept. I would have like to have seem him work a little harder.
Overall, this was a well written book and entertaining. I would caution readers who have not spent time with this series as I think the backstories would help connect some of the dots a little bit.
I loved reading Treasuring Amber(Temptation Saga Book 5), all about Amber who is twenty-two and a Manicurist and BFF's with the Bay sisters & Harper Bay who is thirty a cowboy/Lawyer and runs & owns Cha Cha ranch. Amber is in charge of the Baby Shower for Catie & Chad McCray and their newest addition Violet McCray. And it's all the rage to have a Couples/Coed party, and so all the Cowboys and their ranch hands and all the townsfolk are invited including Harper! However Harper is putting up a fight, I ain't ever been to a girlie party before and I don't care if it's for my niece Violet, I'll see plenty of her without coming to this farce of a party! Catie was very upset, and she tried to convey this to her brother but he wasn't buying it, Catie told him to talk to Amber. So that night when he was at the Bullfrog, he spotted Amber and went and talked to her, and it was decided she would go with him and he would pick her up! The author wrote a story about a girl who needs to make it on her own from the age of sixteen and the choices she needs to make along the way! Also read this book to see if sparks fly when Amber & Harper get together! I can't wait to read book 6!
This book was really good. I enjoyed this story. Glad to see Harper found love with Amber. She been through so much and you could tell she wasn't an evil person because she still cared about her mom and wanted to help her. Her mom surely did had a mental illness. I believe that all that happen when her mom found out about how Thunder Morgan didn't want her or the baby but that wasn't true at all.
Then there, Harper, he treated her wrong just because of some pictures. Heck, I even knew they have drugs to make someone forget what happened that day/night. I mean Harp was a lawyer, and he didn't even want to believe that it was crazy, I mean he liked her but wanted her but still accused her until after they've learned the truth. But again, he still was being petty, until Amber was planning to leave to be with (to get to know her father). He is finally gotten his girl after he had a chat with Chad. I was like about flipping time Harper dang. Lol.
As I read the first 3 chapters, I said this would be my favorite book in the series. Towards the middle of the book, I slowly found myself disliking this book. I felt like Amber and Harper's attraction was very sudden, as they were mentioned in previous books having no relationship at all. This book quickly threw us into Amber's past. What she thought were secrets quickly came to light. She had to deal with her past with the help of Harper. I felt like Harper was somewhat insensitive and judgmental towards Ambers past but towards the end, he redeemed himself and the book had a HEV. I personally felt like the storyline of Ambers father was not needed at all. I found that part of the story to be totally unrealistic. No one decides that a person is their offspring by having the same eye color. Thunder Morgan never questioned anything at all about being Ambers father. He just quickly took her mother's word. I wish this story gave more information on what happened to Karen and Thunder Morgan after Amber gave up her Rodeo Queen crown.

I am loving this series so much. Harper Bay is such a nice guy who is running his family's ranch after his dad passed away. Amber Cross moved to town not too long ago & is the town's rodeo queen. Neither of them are looking for a relationship. Amber is best friends with Harper's sister Catie. When Harper & Amber realize there is something between them they are shocked. Amber also has hidden secrets about her past that she ran away from & doesn't want anyone to know about. Guess what? Someone that has returned back to town recognizes Amber. Blake is in a bind & thinks that Amber is the perfect solution to his problem when he recognizes her. What a ride everyone ends up on! Will Harper believe Amber when he finds out what is going on? Is Blake really that ruthless? Can Amber move on from her past too? I loved this book & can't wait to read more of the series. Hopefully we get to see everyone in the next book.
This story has 3 converging storylines and adds a criminal element and touches on the horrific actions of some disreputable porn producers. A large percentage of porn uploaded online is done through rape, coercion, drugging and manipulation.
Many of the reviews I read focused on how the H responded to information learned about the h and could not believe how easily she took him back. The H had a difficult time believing her due to the pictures but it is difficult to refute photos. He came around once more information came to light but he had been on the fence. The other thing to remember is that the story takes place over a few days so they didn't know each other well.
I have been hard on the author on some of her books but I really did like this story.
Frankly I’d give this book 4.5 stars. Everyone has a secret past they either want to forget or are trying to get away from. Amber falls into this category. This is as far as a spoiler I’m offering. Out of the series so far, I enjoyed Amber’s storyline up till now. It was intriguing in its own way. This also wasn’t as lovey dovey asap. We read about Amber’s situation and how Harper in his own way wanted Amber but also felt she wasn’t the right person for him. This was a good read and am pleased to have read. It was captivating from the very beginning. Good series so far. Looking forward to next instalment Sydney. Enjoy
Addictive alluring.... I wanted to know the story behind why Amber was so secretive about her past. I love that even though this is the fourth book in the Temptation Saga, each book seems to tell a complete story of the main heroine. The books do need to be read in order as they are all linked. However, each book also has its own story and changes the landscape of the bigger picture. I love that this book was so different to the others, it had a darker story within its pages which I loved - reminded me of some of Helen’s other series’. I loved getting to know Amber and seeing some loose ends tied up for her. Another fantastic book by the amazing Helen Hardt!
Twisted, intense, and totally unexpected story development, made this read a complete surprise. The characters were well developed and even the secondary characters were enjoyable. The insta love story between Amber and Harper went through a few challenges before they came full circle with their feelings. Amber has had her share of upheaval, so the last thing she needs is someone who's a hard ass. Is he being chivalrous because that's his style or is he falling for Amber? What happens when he finds out the truth about her, created some unexpected gut wrenching twists making this a very pleasant surprise.
Amber moved away to put her past behind her, but when someone from her past comes back into her life, will she have to run again? Harper always wanted a good country girl, but with one kiss from Amber the sexy siren with the long nails and long legs kisses him at a party, his wants change. When he finds out about her past will he help her or will he walk away to protect his heart? This was a great story filled with more twists and turns than a roller coaster. The reader can't help but route for a happy ending for these two love birds - making it true that opposites attract.
Treasuring Amber (The Temptation Saga #5) was another great read by Helen Hardt. Amber finds herself kissing the handsome Harper Bay in order to avoid a confrontation with her past. She didn't expect that the kiss would be amazing for her. Harper doesn't believe that Amber is his type even though she is beautiful. They both have intense chemistry but Amber has a past that could get them killed. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by Helen Hardt.
Each book in the series gets a little more interesting. This is an instant romance. Amber is not Harper’s ideal woman, but after one kiss, he has fallen for her. Amber came to Colorado because she has a dark past. After one day at a baby shower, she is telling him things that she has never told anyone before. Harper helps to clear her name and also reunites her with her dad. This book ends in a happy ending Amber’s mother getting help and Amber staying rodeo Queen. Things always work out.
This book was given to me and I am so glad that I did not spend any money on it. It was so horribly written. The parts of the book that were supposed to be sexy and seductive had me laughing out loud. I was literally sending quotes from this book to friends because they were so bad! It was literally every stereotype of when men write women characters... except this book was written by a WOMAN. Just, no.
Omg Amber is so strong, to grow up not knowing if your mum loves you or if your daddy is alive. Wow Harper has his way with words, I'd of thinned him by now but sweet Amber shed fallen for him. Her past took her back to her roots but she's got her father back into her life and Harper has his head screwed on. He loves her.. awww can't beat true love.
Just when i think this series cant get any better in walks Amber Cross and Harper Bay..He is seriously yummy lol After her whole thing with Chad i wondered what would happen with her.And im definetly not disappointed...I'm so in love with this series..The way each characters personality unfold in each story leaves you wanting more

Loved Amber from the moment she was introduced in the first book. I don't like how Harper judged her so harshly about her past because who doesn't have a past? But in the end he redeemed himself to me haha. I do wish we knew more about Karen, Amber's mom. I'd like to know if she ended up at the ranch with Thunder and sober.
Amber ran away to escape her past and start over but the past sometimes comes rushing in like a bull when you least expect it to.When she also least expects it, Harper comes into her radar.Just one kiss -how simply things can start. See how things progress and what it takes to make things right. The road to love is never without its bumps and curves.
This is book 5 is part of The Temptation saga by Helen Hardt and but can be read as a standalone, however it it’s also always helpful to have read the previous books to find the stories on the lead up to to how these characters of Amber Cross (reigning rodeo queen)and Harper Bay come together, this book is what I consider a slow burn but keeps getting hotter!
Exciting and extremely sexy! Very engaging and the story line is amazing! Loved this book, if you want mystery, suspense and very steamy connection this book is for you!
Ohhhh soooooo good til the very end!!! Keeps you reading, even when it's past time for bed. Amber and Harper don't disappoint. High that make you smile and lows that will bring tears. Love this series!!!
