Been there, done that – there wasn’t much that Eli Walker hadn’t experienced as a cop. Even working in one of the better precincts in New York City didn’t help dispel the depravity he saw on a daily basis. It was all part and parcel of his mantra of living life in the now, not worrying about the future.
And especially with women. No strings, no attachments, and he made that

Whilst receiving a harsh dressing down by his captain, Detective Elijah Walker of NYPD’s Major Case Squad is unable to offer an apology for beating up the perp he had just brought in. When he’d arrived on the scene, Detective Walker had forcibly restrained the man who had continued to beat Ainsley Barnett, the victim of the assault. Tall, Black and built like an army tank, Elijah feels an inexplainable attraction towards the insanely beautiful blonde he had rescued, a feeling he finds confusing ...more

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Prior to reading this book I didn't realize it was part of the 'A Love and Order Novel' series. It is easily a stand alone book. I haven't ready any of the other books in the series and wasn't lost at all when reading this book.

Eli (Elijah) Walker is a NYPD detective. He meets Ainsley Barnett when she is victim of a crime in her father's deli shop. She's running the shop while her father is recovering from an injury. She is actually a f

Meet Eli.
A detective working in New York.
He’s seen it all.
The drug cases, the domestic cases, the murder cases.
He loves his job.
He lives and breathes it.
In his down time away from the crime of New York, Eli is a player.
A relationship with a woman is nothing of interest of him.
The list of women he has been with, a mile long.

But a call out to a dispute in a little deli shop will change everything.
More to the point, the victim will change E

This is A Love and Order Novel and can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of the others in this series and I wasn't lost when it read this one.
Eli Walker is a detective for NYPD when he is called to Annalise Bernett's family shop for a robbery and assault.
From what I can gather Eli isn't a man whore he just isn't looking for a relationship and isn't one to turn down want is offered. No one woman has really snagged his attention, until

Holding Fast is a great romance with story for anyone looking for a quick light stand alone read. Eli and Ainsley were well developed characters and I enjoyed the story being told from both perspectives. The author did a wonderful job of addressing potential issues of an interracial couple. The supporting characters were all very well written with each having their own voice. Eli was different from the typical Alpha male in romance novels

This is the first book that I've read by Jeanine Binder. Some people may have a tough time warming up to Eli because he's very alpha, but does have some anger issues. For me he worked for this story because even though Ainsley is an independent woman she can use someone like Eli in her corner. Eli has a new girl every night and he doesn't do relationships, but all that changes when he gets a call on a mugging case. Ainsley has a horrible abusive ex and she's hasn't tried dating since, but there ...more

Holding Fast was a combination of romance and mystery. I had a hard time getting into the story at first, but then the plot picked up and really held my attention. I just had to know what would happen with the serial killer and the stalker!

The characters were mostly well developed, believable, and likeable, except Andy. I really wanted someone to shoot Andy, and I'm not generally a violent person. I fell in love with Eli instantly. Eli was a charming and capable police officer, as well as a hot

If you are looking for a book with a protective alpha male who has minor anger issues, this would be it. Eli is former military gone police officer. High enough in rank now, he doesn't exactly have to get his hands dirty, but it really rankles him when a woman is being abused. That is how he meets Ainsley. Out on a call, they find her being beaten up by a guy in her father's deli. Eli gives the guy a small piece of his mind. When she shows up at the precinct to thank him, he can't keep his eyes ...more

Eli Walker is a Detective with the NYPD. He was the every night different women guy, never in his wild imagination would he thought he was going to fall for Ainsley Barnett a beautiful young woman he rescued while in one of his calls.

A powerful message was send in this story, not only was the topic of physical abuse suffered in the hands of a ex-boyfriend but also the topic of issues an interracial couple faces still in this day and age.

The way Eli and Ainsley hand

This was a new author for me, and whilst there is a good underlying storyline, this book simply wasn't for me.

Individually I liked the characters, both had their strengths and weaknesses and together they grounded one another. The author took time to develop the characters and their relationship, which made that aspect of the story so much more relatable. Throughout the book the couple were subjected to verbal abuse due to their interracial relationship; this bothered me a lot as I hate

Holding Fast
A man in uniform work is never done. Eli is a New York detective and is married to his job, women comes and goes, until one day he meet Ainsley. She is young and active and like no other woman he ever met in his life. She is a well established author and loves to write, but her father is hurt so she have to help out at his deli until he returns. She never expected to be a victim of crime or to meet Eli, Both of their worlds are about to be turned upside down. Here are the questions

I received this book for an honest review on behalf of a kiss down under book blog.

Could it work, I quite young woman with an ever growing career as an author and a tuff as they come NY police detective with a playing the field lifestyle.

I really did enjoy reading this book, I loved how Eli was surprised to find that he was willing to do anything for Ainsley, a women who came into his prescient to thank him for doing his job and opened him up to a lot more.

I did however found it strange how the

This is the first time I've read this author. My feelings were mixed. She had a great concept, but I could barely get past the editing. There were a fair amount grammatical mistakes and spelling errors. But looking past that it was a really interesting story.
Elijah was a one-night kind of guy, no second nights. And then he met Ainsley, and everything changes. He doesn't even have sex with her until they've been dating for a few weeks.
Ainsley was blonde with blue eyes, the opposite of Eli's d

A cops job is never done and in this story the life of a cop comes out loud and clear. The things Eli sees is horrible but he holds strong through it all. When he saves Ainsley from a mugger his life changes. Ainsley is an author that has put her story on hold to help with her dad's deli while he recovers from a leg injury. When Eli walks in and saves her she is grateful and then he shows up more often and things start to ignite. Trouble soon follows and things change drastically, but love and t ...more
