A Buckhorn Bachelor was the eighth book in Lori Foster’s Buckhorn series. I read it as the republished version Adam & Kiss and Makeup.

Adam Sommerville was the Buckhorn high school gym teacher. Approaching thirty he was the town’s most gorgeous and eligible bachelor who had managed to avoid relationship commitments so far.

Isabella Presley was the school’s librarian. She was known as being conservative and not easily approachable beyond the professional friendship, but now she was ready to change that persona.

Foster wove a sweet, cute, funny, sexy and quick read. It was well written for a short novella. It starred the quirky Amber, Adam’s cousin and town matchmaker, setting the stage for Adam and Isabella to find their way to each other in a fun way.

Foster also provided teaser’s for the next book, A Buckhorn Baby, where we finally get Amber and Noel’s long awaited story!

Every year Lori Foster writes a "benefit book" where all proceeds go to local (to Lori) charities. For a full list off all her benefit books and more information on the charities go here:

http://lorifoster.com/benefit-books/

If you are familiar with the Buckhorn Brother's series, you should recognize Adam as one of the kids from that series (he is Jordan's step-son). Well, now Adam is all grown up and approaching thirty. And turning the big 3-0 has brought on some thoughts that it MAY just be time to find that special someone to spend his life with. He's seen (most) of his family pair off and he wants that sense of family with a significant other. And when the school's librarian asks for flirting tips, Adam realizes that he has to convince the sexy librarian that see doesn't need to look any further than him.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a super sweet, quick read. This book hits all the spots. It has funny moments, sweet moments, crazy moments, and of course, sexy moments.

RATING: 4 out of 5

Sweet, novella story about a Buckhorn's most eligible bachelor and the middle school librarian. Hot romance and fun look at the leading family of Buckhorn's next generation. I made me sad that Lori Foster decided to make Sawyer, Morgan, Jordan and Gabe old men! Seriously, they are now in their early 60's? When did that happen? I guess to advance the young'uns age she had to make the older generation . . . well, older.

Adam Sommerville is the guy who has it all, wonderful community, a job he loves as a high school gym teacher, any woman he wants. But something seems to be missing and just when he focuses on the woman he wants for more, she just wants to practice flirting with him! What's a guy to do?

Ever since Isabella Presley has been in Buckhorn she has had it bad for Adam Somerville. But working with him has not helped her make any progress with him. Now she is taking advice from his cousin and Adam is taking notice.

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I have a very soft spot in my heart for Lori Foster's Buckhorn series and I love these novellas as the "kids" from the original series grown up and find love. A Buckhorn Bachelor finds Adam Sommerville (Jordan's step-son) turning 30 and thinking it is time to settle down. One thing about the men in this series when they set their sights on someone, they fall fast and hard and when Adam realizes that the librarian from the school where he works as a gym teacher is interested in him he begins to see her in a whole new light. Sweet, flirty with a bit of sexy thrown in for good measure I loved A Buckhorn Bachelor.

I always love when a man who has seen someone for the last 5 years suddenly sees her in a whole new light and when Isabella (Issy) Presley flirts with Adam for the first time he's thrown for a loop, but he really begins to notice everything he likes and admires about her too. With his cousin Amber on a mission to find Issy a man, Adam begins to realize he doesn't want Issy to date other men he wants her to date him and if he's honest he wants a lot more than just dating.

I appreciated all the funny and crazy moments in this book, but I also loved the sweet, tender and sexy ones. Seeing several of the "elder generation" was a huge plus and watching Adam catch up to what Issy has wanted all along was priceless.

Life is always interesting in Buckhorn and Adam soon finds he is perfectly fine being A Buckhorn Bachelor no more.

Love seeing a person get the object of their love in the end. Isabella has been in love with Adam for a while now. They've worked together at the school for five years. It takes some noisiness from the family's match-maker, Amber to get Adam to realize he's liked Isabella too.

What a great match, school librarian and gym teacher.

A Buckhorn Bachelor was fun to read. I really enjoyed seeing the original brothers from the earlier books. They were the sexy twenty/thirty-somethings need. Now they are in their fifties and sixties giving their kids a hell of time, while watching them fall in love.

I'm glad to know that Buckhorn stories are not over because as much as Amber has stuck her nose into everyone's love lives, she needs to work for her HEA.

This one was very cute, although at the start I didn't want to like Adam. I didn't like that he seemed to take his friendship with Issy for granted and that just seeing her bare feet made him realize she was a woman. I think the best part of this one was how Adam's family all ribbed him about his new feelings for Issy.

Forever ago (OK, 5 years...), I had the pleasure of reading the original "Buckhorn Brothers" series, beginning with Sawyer. So what a pleasure it has been to be able to head back to Buckhorn County and check in with the next generation. A Buckhorn Bachelor is Adam's book. It was cool to see cute little Adam from Jordan's story all grown up and ready for love.

I really enjoyed Adam and Issy together. Issy has been in love with Adam for a long time but has never flirted or acted on her feelings. With a little push from Adam's cousin Amber, Issy finally goes after what she wants. I loved Adam's "aha" moment when he realized that Issy had been in his thoughts all along. In fact, I just plain loved the novella.

I'm not going to tell you any more. Just go read it. It's sweet, sexy and funny. It will make you want to start back at the beginning.

The eighth book in the Buckhorn Brothers series by Lori Foster. Adam Sommerville is on the prowl when he spies librarian Isabella Presley. Isabella has always put off uninterested vibes towards Adam but this day seems to be different. Meanwhile, Adam's cousin, Amber seems determined to find Isabella a match among the town's local men and Adam in not one of them.

A cute, entertaining novella. I liked it. As a novella there isn't a lot of development but it worked.

Cute short read. Really liked Adam and Issy was an okay h. I just felt that Adam's feelings came out of left field so fast. I needed more showing when it came to his change of heart around Issy and in the end it was all telling. Still a good quick read. Plus all the Buckhorn hotties make appearances!

A Buckhorn Bachelor is another terrific addtion to what has become one of my favorite series from Lori Foster. The family and community she has created in Buckhorn, KY makes me want to pack up and move there!

Adam Sommerville, Buckhorn's favorite bachelor, and Isabelle Presley, school librarian, have been friends for years. Adam never thought of Issy as anything more than that, until one day, he does. Issy, though, has had feelings for Adam for quite awhile, but it takes some meddling from Adam's cousin Amber to really get things moving.

I love how once these Buckhorn men set their sights on a woman, they don't let anything or anyone, deter them. And Adam is no different. Tired of the parade of men Amber insists on bringing around Issy, he realizes he needs to step up and be the man Issy deserves. I really liked Issy's character. She wanted Adam, but she wanted him on her terms...and that was refreshing!

This is a quick, sweet, and sexy read that left me wanting more of these 2!

This is a sweet, lovely novella by Ms. Foster. She does a novella every summer as a benefits book for a couple of charities she supports and I think it is absolutely wonderful that she does this.

A Buckhorn Bachelor is the story of Adam--he is the step-son of Jordan from the original series, The Buckhorn Brothers. The kids are grown up and finding their own loves. Adam is a teacher and Isabella (Issy) is a school librarian. One day, Adam starts to see Issy in a different way and the sparks start flying! Cousin Amber (can't wait for her book) also takes matters in hand to "help" Adam! Take the time to read this novella--it's delightful. Of course, it is also so much fun seeing the parents from the original series.

And if you haven't tried the original Buckhorn series, try them also. They were published originally in 2000 I believe (although the 2007 reissues have much better covers!). Their stories stand the test of time.

I was pulled right into this super story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Sawyer (Buckhorn Brothers, #1)
Morgan (Buckhorn Brothers, #2)
Gabe (Buckhorn Brothers, #3)
Jordan (Buckhorn Brothers, #4)
Casey (Buckhorn Brothers, #5)
Animal Attraction (Buckhorn Brothers, #5.5)
Back to Buckhorn (Buckhorn Brothers, #5.6)
A Buckhorn Summer (Buckhorn Brothers, #5.7)

This is Isabella and Adam’s story. Isabella and Adam work at the same school. They have interacted before but when Isabella puts herself out there will Adam want her? Or will his meddling cousin come between them. Can he get all the other bachelors of the small town to realize that Isabella is his and he is claiming her? Isabella is in love with Adam but can he love her? Or is he just with her for the week? Can he figure out what he wants before his cousin brings around even more men for Isabella to get to know?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

A great new addition to the Buckhorn series.

Adam finally realizes Izzy is the one for him. Izzy finally decides to try and get Adam's attention.

Adam Sommerville always thought he had it all—a great family in a close-knit community, a worthwhile job as a high school gym teacher and no shortage of women eager to be on his arm. But it seems his luck has suddenly run out. Because Buckhorn's most renowned bachelor has decided it's time to settle down—and the one woman he wants has just put him firmly in the friend zone.

Hiding her true feelings from Adam has been a full-time job for the past five years, but librarian Isabella Presley is determined not to be the latest heart he breaks. The best way to get over her attraction is to find someone else to date—even if it means asking Adam for flirting tips to help her land the perfect guy.

A great story where you see two people finally realize what others have seen all along. A great quick read, perfect for a lazy summer day.

This novella was a super quick read. At about 90 or so pages, but wow alot was out in here. Adam is the son of Jordan the lical vet, and he serves as the lcal gym teacher. He also has a couple of things that is making him consider the future. All his cousins are getting married some are now having children of their own, and he is 30.

Isbella is the school librarian and she has a few dilemmas of her own. One is Adam she likes him, well no she loves him, and has for 5 years, but now she just wants him to pay attention, and if he doesn't she wants to try to help see the error of his ways, with a little help from Amber his cousin.

The only problem is that the guys now see her, and Adam does not like it one bit, just when he believes that he can have her to himself.

Thus story was too cute, but hey we get a good Lori Foster story and a happy ending after some feelings are sorted out. The family can be very scary and overwhelming at times but they all mean well, and Jordan wants his children to have a good life and a good marriage just like he has with Georgia.

Heroine has pined for years, whilst hero has been with lots of other women.
I am never a fan of books where the woman has been pining for years while the male has been having sex with lots of other women.
Adams about face in regards to Isabel gave me whiplash.
There was not enough emotional showing of how he felt for me.
He paraded her in front of his family to gain their backing.
He does say at the end he had shown interest in her a year previously but I just couldn’t see it.
Izzy would have taken him up on any offer.
I liked that Izzy was honest and upfront but would have liked her to get more self-confident with the way all the other men were eager to ask her out.
I do love the stray animals getting a home theme that runs through these books but I disliked the older generation being made to seem old.

Adam is the town playboy who constantly has a different woman on his arm. Issy is the school librarian who has kept her feelings for Adam to herself. When Adam finally notices Issy, she suddenly has a line of men waiting to go out with her and Adam's cousin bringing more to her.

I enjoyed the small town charm where everyone knows each other's business. I couldn't live in a place like that, but I do enjoy reading about it.

Adam Sommerville has always been known has Buckhorn's most unattainable bachelor, the mere thought of tying himself down to one woman has never been something that he willingly wanted to do... that is until now. Lately he has been growing tired of the one night game and the idea of adding regularity to his dating life and spending his time with only one woman can be thought about without him feeling the urge to run. The problem is he can't seem to find that one woman who is perfect for the task, the one with that special spark, the one who he can foresee himself waking up next to every morning. Little does he know that woman has been part of his life for years, he was just to blind to notice the signs, but now that is all about to change...

For the last five years Isabella Presley has harbored a deep seated crush for her friend Adam Sommerville, and she would love nothing more than to be the one woman who captivates his attention and his heart, but Adam doesn't roll that way. He keeps himself unattainable when it comes to women and relationships, and the word forever isn't in his vocabulary, so Issy does her best to hide her feelings from him, to maintain their solid friendship. She knows she can't wait around for him forever, and going home alone every night is starting to make her really lonely, so she decides it might be time to move on, and meet someone new... the problem is her flirty skills aren't up to par. So, she decides to enlist Adam's help, he of all people should be able to teach her how to pick up a date, who knows maybe seeing her move on will finally open his eyes to what has been standing in front of him all this time...

The Buckhorn Series is my absolute favorite series from Ms. Foster, so when the opportunity arose for me to make a return to Buckhorn I jumped at the chance to be reunited with all my favorite characters. The minute I started reading I was immediately transported back to Kentucky, and it almost felt as if I had never left, it had the same blissful feel as my first visit. It was fun to get a glimpse of the men that started it all, and also be reintroduced to their now grown children, and be a part of their journey to find their happily ever afters too. This short, but oh so sweet, novella had it all, and was true to Ms. Foster's style of providing readers with the perfect blend of heartwarming story line and toe curling romance!! If you have not made a trip to Buckhorn I HIGHLY recommend you remedy that quick, because not only are you missing out on some truly enjoyable reading, but also the opportunity to meet some truly endearing characters that are sure to leave an indelible impression on your heart!

I am so excited to be back in Buckhorn again!! These stories will always put a smile on my face. This series is one of those great series where you can get all the feels in a smaller package. None of the Buckhorn books are super long but they stay in your memory forever. I think the kindle edition (which I had) was 90 pages. However I learned very fast with the first Buckhorn books that you will receive a whole bunch of feelings for these characters in a short amount of time.

Lets start with Adam… if you have read the previous books you would know that Adam is Georgia and Jordan’s son. I can’t believe we get to see all of the old characters from the previous books in here! These can be read as standalone books, so no need to read the previous books but I highly suggest reading them just for fun!!! Anyways back to Adam, he is so unbelievably sweet but is also kind of a player. He doesn’t seem to stick with the same woman for long. That is until he notices his long time co-worker Isabella as more than a co-worker. She is smart, strong, caring, and feisty. Is this combination enough to tame Adam? I loved how he becomes so protective of Isabella. There is one scene where two guys are trying to ask her out and what he does is so hilarious and just like an alpha man staking his claim.

Isabella I’m not sure where to begin with her. She was so unbelievably sweet… Isabella has never crossed the line with Adam because her feelings for him run deep. She didn’t want to be another woman he has spent time with but not stayed with. Isabella is finally ready to go to the next step with him so she teams up with his cousin Amber. (on a side note I love Amber’s character) Amber tells Isabella she must act like she’s on the prowl for a man. Isabella keeps getting “set” up with men. Of course once the men in Buckhorn realize she’s available they start coming out of the woodwork. I adore how Isabella doesn’t realize what a great little package she is. I think that makes her even more attractive in Adam’s eyes. The lunch she has with Adam and his relatives is hilarious!! I loved how candid it was.

Thank you to Lori Foster for the copy to review for my honest opinion

Okay, I'm going to admit that The Buckhorn series was my first series I read of Lori's and I've loved her writing ever since. That being said it's like visiting your relatives and "catching up" when you read another Buckhorn story. I don't want to add any spoilers but it's fun to get to see some of the previous characters and get a glimpse of characters who'll hopefully get their own stories in the future.
As with most families they all want "what's best" for Adam and they can't help but get involved. If you've read Back to Buckhorn or A Buckhorn Summer you'll know who the biggest meddler is and it's still funny and sweet in that obnoxious way relatives can be. Ha, ha!
Again, Lori writes a cute story of two people who most wouldn't see together and of course they're perfect for each other. I love how she makes you see through her characters how sometimes who you think a person is based on looks, charisma, charm, and subtlety is entirely different from the true person underneath.
Her stories are always fun, and they have that hot romance thing down pat. Of course one of the other awesome things about her yearly novellas that I look forward to around the summer time is that she donates the proceeds to a well deserved charity in her community. I mean really? Who can't want to read these just knowing you're doing good for others, usually animals in this case.
If there is any downside it is always that it seems the Buckhorn series is destined to be novellas which is so hard for me because I always want to "spend more time" visiting those characters from the previous books and seeing what's going on in the wonderful place known as Buckhorn.
Now for another "up"side you get to read a sample of her next book Don't Tempt Me, and let me tell you, you don't want to miss it! I'm lucky enough to have read that one as well and I can honestly say you won't be able to put it down it's just that tempting! New town, new characters to fall in love with and cheer for, what more could you want?
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In Lori Foster’s latest installment in the Buckhorn universe, The Buckhorn Bachelor, I was immediately drawn in by Adam Sommerville. His swagger, that only a committed bachelor emanates, is always noticed among the unmarried ladies of Buckhorn and it’s all he can do to keep their minds off it. He’s a ‘heat of the moment’ kind of guy, that is, until he starts seeing his friend and co-worker, Isabella Presley, or Issy, in a different light. It’s like she has flipped a switch within herself and is ready to start dating the men of Buckhorn! Adam suddenly realizes he wants to be that man and doesn’t want her dating those other men that start knocking on her door.

Issy and Adam have known each other for years so it’s surprising to her when Adam takes an interest but she’s more than willing to see where it goes. Issy has been thinking about Adam for a while and has enlisted the help of his cousin, Amber, for some tips on how to get him to notice her and in the end, win his heart.

I adore Lori Foster’s contemporary romances. They are filled with laughter, teasing, a little mystery and in the end a happily ever after that leaves you feeling giddy. This book was no exception. Issy has to be my new favorite character. I can imagine her accent in my head and did so while reading this book. It cracked me up! Adam has his hands full and seems like he’s enjoying every minute. This was a fantastically written story about two people that were meant to be together for a long time but were waiting for the right time.

Every addition to this family makes me want to go back and start from the beginning. I believe I will go and do just that. Happy reading!

I've said it before and I will say it again - Lori Foster is one of my all-time favorite go-tos for a seriously good contemporary romance. If you saw my review of Don't Tempt Me, you'll know I think she's the master of the full length romance. But A Buckhorn Bachelor just proves that she also rocks the novella. This is actually my first Buckhorn book, even though I know this is one of her more popular series. And man, I didn't realize how much I was missing until now!

This book is just further proof that Lori Foster can write down-to-earth, genuine characters. I truly believe I could meet someone just like Isabella and Adam. And frankly, I would 100% love to meet someone like Adam. With all the billionaires and rock star romances out there, there's something so comfy and relaxing about a gym teacher and a librarian. Despite the short length of this book (I estimate it to be around 90 pages or so), you can see the characters grow, not only on their own, but as a couple. Really, the only thing keeping this from being a five star perfect read is the cousin. I know she meant well, but I've never wanted to whack a character on the nose with a rolled up newspaper more than in this book.

Cover Lovin': Yummy!

Recommendation: While I own a couple Buckhorn books, this is actually the first I've ever read! So take it from me, this works just fine as a stand alone.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! I didn't want to put it down.

"Suddenly the idea of a casual hookup with some other woman didn't interest him. Nope. Adam wanted to seduce Ms. Issy."

Once again, Lori Foster has immersed me into the world of Buckhorn!

This might have been a short read, but you don't feel like you missed anything. You experience an entire love story within a matter of pages.

Adam Sommerville always had a crush on the sweet librarian, Isabella Presley, but he had no idea how deep her feelings ran for him...or how much he really had feelings for her.

Being the town's most sought after bachelor has it's downfalls when trying to seduce one certain woman. Not to mention the meddling cousin who can't take "no" for an answer. Gotta love Amber!

"I hope you don't change your mind. I really, really hope that."
"Change my mind about wanting you? Not going to happen."

Just like with the other books in the Buckhorn series, you get to catch up with some of the past characters and get a glimpse into the future. I honestly couldn't love all these characters more!!

Lori Foster has such a way with her series! You feel like you are a part of the family. Even when it's been a while since you've visited, you pick up right where you left off-with no hesitation.

I'm so pleased with Adam and Issy's story!! Well done, Lori!!

"You're Buckhorn's most wanted bachelor, and I'm just--"
"Amazing...Wonderful...And mine."
"Yes...Yes to being yours. I don't know about the rest."
"You can take my word on it."
