April Aasheim is the second oldest of six children. She spent her early years traveling the western part of the country with her mother and step-father. During this time she met a lot of interesting people and developed a love of 'characters'.
April is married and lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and her cat Boots.
How do I say this...I gave it 4 stars only because the characters feel like home because we are 4 books in...I have a lot of issues with this book and where it is going..A LOT. But because it is so familiar I gotta see how ridiculous it will get till it ends
All the books in this series are great but this one just keeps you on your toes wanting to know what happens next. Secrets come out and then a major twist then noooo the books over. I can't wait for the next book in. August.
Probably one of my favorite book series that I've ever read. I'm addicted to these books and I love reading about the characters. I can't wait for book 5 to be released.
This was one of my favorite of the series thus far. Finally we have the back story on everyone as much as the globes could provide. Although I do still wonder about Aunt Dora's back story.
I am also sad that Maggie Cat is pretty much gone from the series, what's a witch without their familiar?
Proofreading needs to be tightened up as usual, I noticed proofreading is much better when it's done in a series with a very popular author.
The story ended on a cliffhanger which was to be expected but the overall story was really superb, great storytelling and after the last globe everything fell into place, I kind of knew where the story was going but I was guessing all the way up until that point so good storytelling for sure.
The Curse of Dark Root: Part Two (Daughters of Dark Root Book 4)
The Curse of Dark Root: Part Two (Daughters of Dark Root Book 4) 🫨🤯🥹OMG 🫨🤯🥹!!! Just reading about Maggie and her family the way she grows and evolves. WOW 🤩 The strength in sisterhood, the love they share and how they learn to come together is amazingly brilliant. These books have made me cry and laugh and shake my head in wonder. I loved all the craft shown in the books from the references to plants and herbs to spells. And now with the cliffhanger!!!! I loved this entire series too much to stop now! Definitely recommend reading the series 📚/ book 📖!!
Maggie and her sisters must deal with the magical mess left behind by their mother when she passes. The Council is defunct. The protective domes over the town are failing. Evil is creeping in. And there are far too many secrets for anyone's safety. Maggie's magic is strong, but she's never been able to control it. In fact, she's stronger than any of the others. She finds she has much to learn as she opens herself to people she's known but disregarded all her life. As she finds answers to questions and ways to work with her magic, she faces a truth to shake her world. Recommended.
No spoilers from me, but holy family secrets Batman! Again, as I read each page I gasped, cried or laughed. Wonderful continuation of this family. I felt completely drawn in as if it were a movie. The family secrets that Shasta kept are finally reviled in this novel. I never seen this one coming. Just wow. A few adult situations in this novel. A few grammar mistakes, but nothing my mind couldn't read correctly. I loved this one even when I had to grab a tissue Highly recommend.
I have read these Dark Root books one after the other, beginning with A Dark Root Christmas, so, obviously, I like them a lot. I find the character development is believable, and I like the characters. The descriptions are very good, and the plots excellent. My only complaint is that the books are loaded with errors. The author does not know the meaning of some words she likes to use. She is short on commas (hello, April, direct address commas?) The fact that I keep reading the books in spite of all these silly errors explains how good they are. Please, get an editor.

I'm conflicted about this book. I clearly enjoyed it because I've read it in a few hours, but I'm just a bit meh about the re-appearance of Shane - he faked his death and that is that? And the secret that was being dangled throughout didn't surprise me as much as I would have liked. But as I said, I read it in one sitting pretty much, and I'll be starting the 5th one now so I can finish the story and confirm that the foreshadowing of the D&D game is what will happen when they finally fight Larinda and Armand.

Absolutely enjoyed every story in this series. I picture in my mind, a vision of what I am reading. I am part of a "step family" and totally relate to that family dynamics portrayed. Love it! Want more!
I can't wait for the next story in this witchy families life! The sisters and their misters are gonna take down bad juju... and shine and protect!
So many things that you may or may not have guessed at are revealed in this book. This series so far has been amazing and I have loved following Maggie along on her road of self discovery and getting back to her roots whether she likes it or not. This one ends in a great big cliff hanger though, so be ready for that!
Our journey continues, with those in Dark Root moving with the times. Some having to leave, whilst others returned. The past is shown to us, and to Maggie, in a way to discover the origin of the curse she and her son were under. As a family, they face the truth, only to be met by devastation in the end. Together they will fight against hell itself.
Loved the continuing story of Maggie and her sisters of Dark Root. Maggie has to learn about Dark Roots past and save herself from a curse. Will she do it all?
Just finished book 5 and !over every one! Loved the characters...witty, sarcastic and sweet. You'll love them too! Start your Dark Foot adventure today!
I love this series. Maggie is so my friend because she is constantly acting then thinking. Just like me. Each one of these people are more than just characters in a book. April gives them life, flaws and strengths. Highly recommend this series.
There is a ton of wheel spinning to get to the real action that only occurs in the last part of the book. I dont know why I keep going with this series except that they're quick reads and free to borrow on Amazon Prime.
This book has you running wild trying to keep up. There is so much going on that you won't want to put it down. I can not wait to start the next book. If you're not reading these books or are missing out because it is an amazing trip you don't want to miss..
Oh my goodness, the characters are so well developed that you are sucked into dark root! Lots of twist and turns. I did audio for the first 2.5 and I’m so glad I did. It helped me understand the characters voices more. Very well done!
Very intriguing from start to finish. Maggie must figure out the curse to live and restore magic to Dark Root. Her life and possibly that of everyone she loves depends on her.
Why did I choose this rating. Sometimes you just need a simple adventure story no matter what genre. Just kick back into your recliner and enjoy a good tale.
I knew it! The globes reveal the past... So much goes on in this book. The girls grow closer and the family bonds are tighter. Such a good read! I'm excited to read the next!
